Chapter 89: Protection
The Green Twinkle was surely bigger than the ship that came close but in terms of the weaponry installed on the enemy ship, the Green Twinkle was less intimidating.
After Kutch, Yon, and Dost flew out of the crack they had been teleported to the ship successfully. Captain Seaghoul's question about Safo's well-being wasn't satisfied by the group. They simply wanted to deal with the enemy and go back to check on Safo.
Even though each of them trusted Safo they still weren't free from worrying about him.
To make things more clear Captain Seaghoul brought up to date the team. An unidentified ship came close to the Green Twinkle and sent an audio message demanding the catch, the Green Apes.
"Those bastards think that we can't defend ourselves, that we are weak. They are trying to scare us with all those plasma and neutron cannons." Captain Seaghoul knew the difference in power of the cannons on the enemy ship against Green Twinkle, but he didn't want to accept it out loud.
"Achraf is working on something ‘that will save our lives’ as he called it. But we cannot rely on experimental software. Dost I know you have a shield resource, please go outside and try to fend us from the blasts.
Kutch, you take control of one of the cannons. Yon, you are going to the medical room." Captain Seaghoul inquired information from all members of the team in order to properly utilize their abilities in case of an emergency.
Kutch had a better idea, he had a trump card that he never mentioned before. He went to the ammo storage and touched all of the explosive projectiles that they had.
It was a bit old fashioned method of ship battle but a transport ship was not supposed to be engaged in any battle in the first place.
By touching the projectiles he marked them for further control. He could use his telekinesis to manipulate the explosives after shooting them. By that Kutch raised the probability of aiming the important parts of the enemy ship.
Dost didn't need to breathe and be in livable temperatures. His metal body stood outside of the ship, his legs magnetized to the corpus of the ship. His sole purpose was to create spots of force shields where they could be needed the most.
Achraf ran his fingers all over the screen in an attempt to make some innovative software to save the day. He intended to improve the defense system of the ship by utilizing the ship to its limit. The cameras on the front, usually, had only one job to show the picture. But Achraf was about to use them as a prediction device.
The shield of the ship was one evenly spread layer, while Achraf could send the signal from the cameras to thicken the curtain point. By that, the Green Twinkle could withstand more time under the bombard of the enemy ship.
The problem was energy consumption. The shield generator could drain the ship quickly if used in that way, so Achraf required permission to turn off all other energy-consuming devices to create enough power for defense.
The subtlety of the work was to predict the level of impact to generate an extra thickened field on a certain spot only enough to not let the attack go through the shield. Not more not less. The calculation process took more time than Achraf predicted.
"Safo, can you hear me? Where are you? If we start a fight we won't be able to teleport you for a while. Hurry up, kid!" Captain Seaghoul couldn't wait any longer, the ship in front of them began energy gathering for their cannons. Soon he had to turn off everything on the ship.
The story has been illicitly taken; should you find it on Amazon, report the infringement.
About two and a half kilometers underground, in a cave, Safo stood with his left hand stretched forwards. His Torch, the mini-cannon-like device, assisted him in creating a powerful skill, called the Fear.
It created eponymous emotions in those who were caught by the skill. The Fear was exactly what was keeping the 3 meters tall and 5 meters long cosmic creature from attacking Safo.
"Captain, I'm fine. I already escaped, but I lost my jetpack. Do not wait for me. I will run as far as I can and then I will climb upward. Do not wait for me. Kick their ass. Then call me." Safo assured Captain Seaghoul.
{"Safo, I'm worried. How do we escape from this monster?"} Luna, who was always with Safo, rooted for him the most.
Safo couldn't answer, people on the ship could catch the words. He wanted them to fight without disturbing thoughts about him.
However, Safo didn't think that he was in a hopeless situation. The four-armed people were above him ready to jump on top of the White-Black. He was troubled that they also will be under the Fear skill, unable to fight.
Safo raised his right hand and gestured to the four-armed daredevils to attack from behind, but wasn't sure if they understood.
In the next moment, Safo realized that they didn't understand. All of the warriors jumped on the monster with their sharp mineral weapons. Some couldn't reach the monster and fell to the ground injuring themselves. Others jumped just right, managing to create wounds on the skin of the White-Black. Some jumped right between Safo Nur's hand and the beast canceling the effect of the skill.
The first couple of seconds White-Black didn't move still stunned, overwhelmed by the emotions. Unfortunately, it was understood that he wasn't under spell too soon. The rage that the beast showed had no limit.
It crushed, it bit, it flapped wings to drop the pests crawling on it. But more importantly, he sought for his tormentor.
Safo was already near the exit when he sensed an attack from behind. It was the dino. Turned his head to gauge the distance and make a dodge, but his heart sank when he saw the jaws too close to him. He had no time to do anything.
{"No!"} Luna yelled from inside Safo, but she could do even less than Safo himself.
'I'm gonna die like this, huh?' Safo couldn't even finish his thought, his inevitable death had been postponed.
The greyish figure jumped down straight into the jaws of the monster. White-black raised its head to finish off the accidental victim. The dead body was tossed away.
'Did he just save my life?' Safo didn't waste his time over the puzzle; he resumed the retreat. When he was inside the tunnel for more than ten meters he looked back and was taken aback by the sight.
Several four-armed creatures blocked the way to the tunnel with their bodies while others from the sides tried to draw the beast's attention.
'What is going on?'
{"They want you to escape. Run."} Luna said as if she could read Safo's mind. After all those months of being inside him, she knew him as she knew herself.
"But why? Why sacrifice themselves to save someone they don't know?" Safo couldn't wrap his mind around the question.
He took a couple more steps away from the battle and stopped to look back again. Three more died by that time. But the monster, by trying not to pay attention to the small fries while focusing on chasing the one who inflicted so many bad emotions to him, received many serious wounds.
Its wings had big holes, the body had deep cuts, rattle horn had been pierced through, with several pointy weapons dangling on it. Many grey figures were on the beast, two four-armed creatures sat on his neck, two more pulled his head from beneath, one tried to turn its good eye away from the tunnel.
"What are they doing? Kill him while he is focused on me. Why do you want to win me time?" Safo shouted at creatures that couldn't understand him.
{"You have to use the opportunity, they want you to survive."}
The beast gobbled another grey figure and flattened the other.
"Aarrgghh, fuc* it," Safo screamed his anger out and ran towards the cave's entrance. Right when the beast started his vibrations.
"No!" Safo used his skill to prevent the beast from using its most powerful weapon. Using his momentum, Safo inserted his whole arm inside the injured eye. Thanks to his arm being covered by the Torch Safo didn't get cut from the multiple sharp weapons that already were in the eye.
"Absorb this, motherfuc*er!" Skill Pillar was utilized by Safo Nur.
At first, nothing happened, every cell of the White-Black was sturdy and fought their right to live. But soon high temperatures reached the brain, melting and cooking.
Safo used up almost all of his soul energy that left after half an hour of Fear. The heat and flame came out from the eye but never pierced through the skull. The bone of the creature could withstand a temperature of more than 10000 degrees.
{"SAFO! It's here."} It was the first time when Safo heard Luna scream in horror. Her deafening scream was overpowered by an even more disturbing vibration from the female White-Black.
It stood up. Its whole body was shaking. Safo sensed that he was going to die.
