Chapter 3: Rat, a big one.

The eyes are locked in front of each other - between the giant rat, in front of a dodo bird that just hatched not long ago, under a juicy fruit tree. Who knows what is going to happen in front of the strong battle for survival?

"What are you doing? RUN!" He shouted in my ears as if fear had taken over him, that low tree turns out to be a coward. He quickly swooped to his side in a brief panic attack, not before the rat started moving in our direction.

[I have no idea what a rat is]

While he was hovering, as if time slowed down from outside the invisible barrier, he approached the information engravings on the side and hovered back and forth while I continued to look in front of the rat that was just planning to jump on us again. He just decided to drag himself between the walls of the place as if he was dying and his hands ran over one of the engravings written on it 'Sprint'.

The engravings suddenly glowed very brightly and in a single moment, the fake body began to move forward, towards the rat.

"Run away from him, not towards him!"

I was not exactly in control of his direction at that moment, but while the rat was just jumping, the body quickly passed under him and caused him to miss. All I could see through the barrier was how we were just running straight into the bushes, away from the place, without full control of it

[Stop!] I chirp at it in my Sanderati imperative voice, but it doesn't stop moving. It must be something with the engravings. I ran towards the engravings and as I noticed what the low tree did, it touched the writing.

But it turns out that I am very short.

As much as I try to reach the glowing engraving, I don't succeed at all, at the same time he starts to relax from his panic attack, as if he had a huge fear of rats or whatever this creature was, he seems to have realized that we ran away from him. He looked at me as I tried to reach the engravings

"What exactly are you trying to achieve here"

[You are a fool? I'm trying to stop running]

The barrier shows how the shadow changes for him with every step of running on the ground and passing through bushes and leaves. Not far away, a large mountain wall stands at the visible end of a collision course. I try to command the body to stop but without success.

How about climbing I had control but now it doesn't happen. We're going to hit the wall if he doesn't do something. I'm still trying to get to the engravings and he looks at me like an innocent fish. I changed my strategy and started trying to jump on the low tree, but I got through it. I couldn't even feel anything.

He looked at the barrier for a moment and his head finally started to work.

"Why didn't you say... wait, I forgot you... can't speak"

[I have nothing to say about it, a low and hollow tree]

Quickly he touched the glowing engraving and just as I thought, he faded and returned to being as before the body began to slow down and I was able to command him to stop and so he did, a few moments before the body collided with the tree on the way to the wall. And I'm very upset about this low tree...

Wait, I think at this level it already insults trees. We will go for 'human' from now on.

I am very angry with this human!

"I don't believe it... if you touch the engravings, you activate them" he touches the inscription 'Climb' and without any warning, the engraving glows and the body begins to move towards the tree we almost reached and began to climb it, similar to the cliff that was before. I tried to resist it, but it was no use as the body with a speed I don't believe possible, reached the thicket of leaves, scaring a bird sitting on one of the branches. He touched the engraving once more and returned to being as before, causing the body to stand on a thick branch of the tree.

[Excellent, why did you do this?]

"So yes! I do have control over this host!"

[This will only cause problems]

"You must be happy that I'm able to control it," he said as if he ignored my words since he didn't understand my tweets at all. And I'm not happy about it. Why is this even possible?

He hovered towards the barrier and looked at it for several moments before pointing at something. I looked as well and I saw exactly what he saw:

"It's Joyfrost! How lucky we are"

[Yes, we almost hit a tree hard, who knew what was going to happen to us]

I felt hungry just thinking about it and I looked at this human being and I think we're on the same page. I gently commanded us to pick the fruit and so he did. With gentle movements, while the engraving of a climb glowed to him as before (only weaker and similar to the cliff), we approached the fruit which was not far at all. It was a bit salty but in its big beak, it bit into the fruit and swallowed it.

The taste of the fruit filled my tongue with its sweet and delicious taste again. I was glad that for a moment I forgot what exactly I was upset about.

"Its taste is good. I don't remember eating such a fruit"

Huh, right. he.

The taste disappeared shortly after and the feeling of hunger disappeared as well, but the pain on my left wing remained from the encounter with this rat. I went back to see what the invisible barrier was showing us and ordered to advance through the leaves. As soon as his head popped out, the sun had already set over the forest and darkness began to envelop the place. And with him how our prison also darkens along with him until we cannot see so well with the darkness.

"So it turns out that dodos can't see in the dark," he said

[This is clear as day. I'd rather be in the sun or the twilight, thank you very much]

A feeling of fatigue began to overtake me suddenly. But I don't feel any need to sleep. He felt the same. It's a particularly strange feeling that even the body didn't resist and closed its eyes without any command from me and the place just went back to being exactly like before this whole story with this man started - darkness all around, but I could see clearly.

"It's definitely a living creature if it also requires sleeping and eating. It just makes the reason we're here even weirder. Though your presence is even weirder."

[Strange I agree. it is your presence that is strange]

He came closer to me and looked at my injured wings. Something that you couldn't exactly see in the engravings of the reflection on the body, but on me it looked real. He looked at them before I moved my left wing out of his line of sight.

"Everything that happens there. I don't know what to say" he began to speak: "They would tell me that I would go to heaven if I died a holy death. Or to hell if I was a sinner. But that's not it and that's not what's here"

[What are you mumbling in front of me?! Heaven? Hell? What is it exactly? stop talking nonsense and be useful please]

He pulled away from me and started turning around to see the cone. He was suddenly startled by surprise. I looked at him from the many sounds he made and saw exactly what he was scared of: the engraving started to move a little and change something there. The engraving that symbolized 0, became one. Now the body is one day old and the barrier has started to spread morning light from it.

It was too fast for sleep. He was as confused as I was:

"What exactly happened? How is it morning now? Wasn't it just dark and the body fell asleep on the branch?"

[This is all one big mess]

I commanded the body to look around through the leaves and with it, the same view of mountains and wide forest visible from the tree.

"I guess we should keep moving and try to survive another... day, but the question is where"

I mainly focused on trying to find more fruit and commanded the body to try to look around for more of them. It didn't take long for me to find another one and the body bit it whole. The taste flowed again on my tongue for several moments until it was gone and with it, there were no more fruits on this tree. There was no feeling of thirst either.

Only pain

Physically and mentally.

[I guess we should move]

I commanded the body to get down from the tree and with it we advanced to the ground full of leaves, and it just continued to hover before turning to me:

"I have no idea what we will do now. Will we survive?"

[it's pretty obvious how we do it: we moving]

He stood and hovered around before coming back to me:

"We can't stay here too long. I don't want to know what else is haunting the forest. Bears? Wolves? More giant rats?"

[You hate rats, I get it. And what are bears and wolves? stop talking gibberish]

"Anyway. We have several places we can move: cross the forest, but quickly and as long as it's not dark. Cross and climb the mountains not far from here, since we have the 'ability' type. Or maybe I hope to try to find a river and follow it, But I have no idea where there is. There are so many possibilities, but one thing is certain: I don't want to stay in the forest."

[You're already making a hole in my head]
