Chapter 5:

Xander was looking forward to growing stronger in this new world. The chance of gaining mystical powers only added to the excitement.

However, there where many things he missed from his old world.

Such simple and mundane things and yet he so desperately hated living without them.

The simplest of all was a toilet. A place where many men could calmly place their rump and reflect on the happening of the day. A place of meditation, and a place he had often used for contemplation.

Now however he had to use squatting toilets. But that was something he was determined to fix or die trying.

Being accustomed to the language of this world had been easy. His previous 6 years of memories made this worlds dialect easy to understand to the point it felt natural.

In fact, thanks to this he had access to 2 languages. This world own language, which was similar to the eastern dialect found on Earth, almost like a derivation of Mandarin and he still had his memories of English.

With this thought in mind Xander cursed, in English, at seeing Li's actions. Li was also a student in Satou City Academy; however, he had awakened with a spirit rank of 4 with a polearm type tool spirit. Because of this unlike Xander, Li had to work in order to pay for the school tuition fees.

Li was also the annoying kid who took it upon himself to 'play' with Xander.

"Come on Xan' er, don't be like that. I heard a new shop is opening in town. lets go!"

Most of the people Xander had met found his name to foreign and hence it was shortened to Xan'er. Although Xander didn't mind, the fact that it was similar to females name made him target to the so called verbal teasing of the other kids.

However, there in lay the problem. Xander was a child with the mind of an adult and thus the unceasing antics for fun and exploration accompanied by these children's monstrous energy levels, which came from gods know where left Xander exhausted.

"You go ahead. I need to speak to the dean today. Bye"

Without giving Li a chance to respond, Xander briskly moved of the bed collecting a worn leather bonded book in one smooth almost practice motion, before disappearing through the door.

"Let me guess, Xan'er isn't coming. What do you expect from a pompous orphan"?

Li turned to the side glaring at Ma Big Tao.

"Its probably because you keep picking on him."

However even though Xander heard these remarks, he continued to put distance between there shared room in the dormitory, paying them no heed. If anything, he enjoyed listening to these childish taunting and insults and often teased the other children back. He needed some form of entertainment after all.

Glancing down at his right hand which firmly clutched the leather-bound book, Xander briskly stowed it away in his brown straight jacket. The book was something very important to him and something had spent the last year on, ensuring to fill it to the best of his knowledge.

Xander had read the novel 'Douluo dalu' and even enjoyed it which led to him reading the sequels. This knowledge was incredibly value and could even be instrumental to his future and so Xander had attempted his best to recall the happenings in soul land 2 and noted the information into this book

Of course, such knowledge could not be seen by others and being surrounded by naturally inquisitive children, writing the information in English, a dialect only he was privy to, helped to keep the knowledge a secret. And it also contained a design that would change this continent. No! It would change this world! A simple toilet and yet the effects it would have on history would be monstrous.

Taken from Royal Road, this narrative should be reported if found on Amazon.

As to why he was going to see the dean. Well, he thought it was about time he got his first spirit ring.

Xander quickly past door after door descending through a staircase which lead on to the vibrant grounds of the campus. Xander continued walking, moving past many children ranging from 6-year-olds to teenagers.

Accompanied by the warm glow of the sun and the soft strokes of a gentle breeze the day was at its peak and thus accompanied by the hubbub of moving people.

It wasn't long till Xander approached the doors to an even larger building. It was split into 3 floors with a multitude of classrooms and halls. Xander moved through the building climbing the stairs until he approached the landing of the 3rd floor. Following the snaking hallways Xander finally arrived at his destination.

One thing to note however, was that Xander current movement where very out of the norm. Normally the dean did not interact with the younger students, let alone one coming unannounced and yet here Xander was standing before the large arched wooden door.

Xander moved his hand tapping the door in quick succession.

In response, an old worn voice emerged from behind the aged wood.

"Come in boy"

How was the Dean always aware it was him.

Was it due to the powerful senses of a Rank 54 spirit King. Was it his gait or just his mere presence. Xander wasn't aware of the intricacies but looked forward to having similar power in the future.

Opening the door Xander eyes locked on to a moving Quill pen. Despite his disturbance the elder continued to fill in form after form with unnatural speed and accuracy.

After waiting for a few short minutes, the elder delicately put the quill pen away placing another sheet on top of the already impressive pile and locked his eyes on Xander.

His face was full of wrinkles indicating his age, however his wide powerful shoulders dismayed any notion of this being a feeble old man. The elderly man sat ramrod straight whilst the rays of sunshine cascaded in from the window behind him. His stern, yet wizened eyes gazed into the far smaller child's.

"Speak child. What is it you need"?

Xander had always been respectful to his teachers and of course the Dean. Always keeping out of trouble with his consistent top grades only added to his reputation of being a hardworking and honest child. His talent as a soul master only increased his reputation more.

As a result, over the past year Xander had gain the chance to talk to and even learn on occasion from the more experienced elder, even being allowed to come in unannounced such as this.

Xander had the mind of an adult, and thus though practically and causatively knowing that receiving favour from those in charge and with far more power than himself would be beneficial.

It would have been stupid to have been arrogant and ignorant even though he had awoken with such a powerful martial soul. After all many despised talents, especially those who flaunted it and with no backing, how hard would it be to get rid of one weak child.

With a swift bow Xander politely responded.

"Greetings Dean. I apologise if I disturbed you".

Hearing those words, the elder let out a hearty laugh completely opposite to the sternness he had displayed before.

"Ah, such a polite child as always. What are teachers for if not to listen to the needs of there pupils. I assume your ready for your 1st spirit ring"

Of course, the wizened elder would know as to why Xander had come. In fact, it had been the elder himself who had told Xander to come to him when he felt ready to get a spirit ring. Afterall, Xander had done his best to impress the elder in their meetings, displaying his mature personality and critical thinking in their conversation which seemed to have worked in gaining the Deans favour.

"Yes Dean. If you would be so kind as to help this student"

Of course, Xander didn't need to ask for help as it was a given. But being extra polite wouldn't hurt.

"Well, no time like the present child. Let's go"

Accompanied by the response the elder rose of his chair. His tower figuring casting a shadow over the smaller boy. In response Xander replied somewhat confusedly.

"Ehm, Dean. Will you be helping me to get my spirt ring?"

Xander knew he would receive help from the academy when getting his spirit ring, but he hadn't thought it would be from the dean himself.

"Of course child. A talent such as you need the perfect spirit ring after all. Now, let's go"

Without waiting for a response, the elder moved in a blur and before Xander could react he was hoisted in the elder arm before being unceremoniously flung out the window.

Xander could only smile wryly as he fell from the 3-story building rapidly approaching the grounds below. Having someone as strong as the dean to get him a spirit ring was brilliant, but after all the conversations he had with the elder, Xander knew one thing.

Despite the elders obvious age and wizened demeanour, he was very eccentric. Eccentric and very impulsive.
