Chapter 20:

"Dean, my martial soul!"

Xander alerted the dean as he entered through the wide double doors.

In response to his outcry and dishevelled state, the Dean rose from his chair, but before he could respond, the boy before him fell to the floor unconscious

"Shit, call the healers"

The Dean moved with inhuman speed, arriving next to the body before he checked the body for injuries.

Xai ji's voice, fuelled with spiritual energy, alerted the clerk outside, who had no doubt seen the commotion due to the opened door, and was running in the direction of the school nurse.

Alas, as this commotion occurred around the unconscious Xander, he was none the wiser, blissfully asleep.

--

Xander felt blissful. He could feel a cool sensation cover his body as he drifted in one spot. He could feel nothing around him, just the odd sensation of liquid.

'Wait, liquid? What the hell?'

Xander's eyes fluttered open, his senses flooded with an eerie sensation of weightlessness. He floated within a chamber filled with a translucent, gel-like liquid that caressed his skin with a strangely soothing touch. The dim glow of the laboratory equipment pierced the chamber's walls, casting an ethereal shimmer over the liquid, creating an otherworldly tableau.

It was the silence that first struck him—the absence of any voices or footsteps and yet the harsh laboratory lighting persisted, casting eerie shadows across the walls of the chamber. On his face, a breathing mask lay connected to an extended pipe, no doubt supplying Xander with the oxygen to survive in his current state.

As he gently bobbed in the amniotic embrace of the liquid, his thoughts swirled with confusion. What should he do? What could he do?

It was then Xander's mind was assaulted with memories that were not his own. Having developed his mental energy, Xander took a few precious moments to digest and work through the memories.

The memories of this body's host were splintered and fragmented. He could recall the pain, the fear that the child faced. An orphan who was sold, only to be experimented on!

He could recall the language different to his own and yet because of the inherent memories, he could understand it, though to a clumsy degree.

This body's host was a child, merely 7 years old, and Xander attributed the age with the experimentation and pain, resulting in a damaged mind. Unfortunately, because of this he couldn't gleam much about his current replacement, just that it was dangerous!

Armed with this knowledge, Xander knew this was a very different experience from his last excursion, and Xander didn't want to make any rash decisions.

After all, he didn't know what situation he found himself in. Instead, he turned to the only thing that could shine some light on his present state.

He pulled his consciousness inside and thankfully was quickly met with a different scene. The grail continued to release its golden glows within the vast darkness but now was accompanied by a dragon at its base.

The tree continued to refine what mental energy it could unabating, moving swiftly and unbothered by Xander's own circumstance.

'Thankfully I haven't lost my abilities'

Channelling his metal energy, a screen quickly materialised before him.

'Well, that's not good!'

Xander sighed internally as he looked through the information he was given. The name of the place 'Lukedoni', stood out to him. Especially with the vampiric and lycanthropic bloodlines, but that didn't mean it boded well for him.

If his guess was correct, then his current predicament was even worse!

Thankfully, using his live tracker and the map function, he could ascertain his own location being in south Korea, something he only knew as the map was also detailed with names.

Xander had a feeling that this was the world of Noblesse. After all, there were very few fictions with these names and tropes, especially with him also being experimented on.

What was noblesse?

Noblesse follows the story of Rai, an ancient and powerful Noble who awakens from a long slumber. He befriends his devoted servant, Frankenstein, and enrols in a South Korean high school to reconnect with the modern world. However, Rai's reemergence brings to light a dangerous conspiracy involving various supernatural organizations, including the Union the Nobels and werewolves.

The foes in "Noblesse" are incredibly dangerous due to their advanced technology, combat skills, and dark ambitions. The Modified Humans, created by the Union, have been genetically enhanced to rival the strength and abilities of the Nobles, posing a significant threat to the world. Their ruthlessness and willingness to use unethical means make them formidable adversaries.

Now, with Xander occupying a human's body, it narrowed down to him, most likely being an experimental subject in the Union. Something that was going to make his life all the more difficult.

The union were an unethical bunch, with a deep-seated perverseness experimenting on their own kind. A position Xander just so happened to find himself in.

But more than that, if Xander was to be found awake, they would no doubt experiment on him.

Could he avoid their detection?

Unfortunately, with the plethora of data gathering devices on his body and around him, it would be difficult to fool them, even more so now that his heart was beating fast due to the situation.

Xander needed to get out of here and get out fast!

But how?

The beings in this world were ridiculously powerful. Xander would guess that many Union members were easily equivalent to soul king or emperors with the hegemon's of this world equal to tiled douluo, if the power they showed in the Manhwa where to be believed.

How was he to escape from such beings?

Sure, he had the advantage of surprise. None of the scientists or whoever owned this facility knew he was awake, but still, how would he get out!

Looking into his mind space, he knew he needed a distraction. The difficulty increase of this world had truly spiked, but he couldn't worry about this. He didn't know when the scientist would come and then what would happen to him.

He needed an escape plan. Naturally, his eyes turned to the only combative he possessed, the krayt dragon.

'Wait, Weren't krayt dragons good at digging.'

'Yes! That's it'

However, if Xander summoned the krayt dragon inside the chamber he floated in, it would shatter and perhaps alert someone. Thankfully, there were no cameras in the room, something he took notice of when he did a quick inspection, but that didn't mean a broken chamber wouldn't be found.

'Damnit'

'Krayt Dragon, I choose you,' Xander said as he moved over to the dragon. He knew he needed to come up with a name for it as well.

It seemed the dragon picked up on Xander's erratic emotions through their connections.

Opening his eyes in the real world, Xander channelled his energy, something thankfully he had no problems with, and he summoned the creature away from him. The maximum distance he could summon spirit souls was 5m from himself and so he summoned the Dragon in front of another chamber, one of the many in the room, in case there was a recording device in here.

The Dragon appearing in the world for the first time, observed its surroundings carefully. It stayed like that for a few minutes and thankfully, no alarm triggered, easing some of Xander worries.

Xander, then channelled his mental energy towards the Dragon, urging it to do what Krayt Dragon did best. Di!.

The dragon tuned its head, looking in Xander's direction, intelligence clear in its eyes.

Did it understand Xander? Xander didn't know! The dragon was only a 10-year-old spirit beast, but that didn't matter. The creature was clearly intelligent and felt Xander emotions through their connection. It moved towards the concrete wall on the right side of the room. Thankfully, this wall was void of any technological equipment.

The dragon opened its mouth wide, a vicious row of teeth appearing, each gleaming with razor sharpness as the dragon effortlessly took a bite of the wall.

Its jaws easily sank into the thick concrete and with one swift motion, a large circular piece was missing.

The sheer ease with which the Dragon bit of a piece of concrete was one thing but its next moves even more so. It turned its head, depositing the chunk of concrete onto the floor, with it sizzling as if the concrete was being corroded. Following this, it took another bite, then another, then another.

Within a few minutes, the small hole quickly gave way to a crater, as the Dragon began moving through and upwards unhindered by what was before it.

As more time passed, the dragon's large body disappeared through the hole, all whilst Xander tentatively waited.

It did feel odd that the first thing this magnificent soul beast was used for was as a glorified digger, but Xander couldn't complain. Xander hoped nothing would come in the creature's way. He prayed he would get out of this without being further experimented on or worse!
