Ch 6: Mana

At the sight of the second Trial Alexis already had a slight idea of what to do, once again closing her eyes she felt the Mana within herself, the unguided chaos swirling around. She felt it, as she began to guide it, the flow slowly calmed as she gave the Mana direction. With each breath taken, she visualized the Mana flowing through her like a gentle stream. The Mana in the room absorbed into her body, feeling it intertwine with her own.

She began to imagine a ball of pure Mana right where her heart was, as she guided the Mana that was being absorbed into her there, using her veins as a layout of where to lead the Mana around her body, no longer did she feel like the warmth just enveloped her, now she felt like she was the warmth itself.

[New method of Mana Refinement found, rebuilding body]

"What? Rebuilding body? What does that mea-" She couldn't finish her thoughts as her body began to feel like it was burning from the inside, the warmth now excruciating pain that felt as if it slowed time just to make the pain last longer.

"AAAAAAAAHHHHHHH HELPPPP!!!!!!!" She screamed in pain, but in this box that now felt like a prison, her cries for help could not be heard, as he body burned from the inside, every nerve in her body screaming, and no comfort could be found anywhere.

Time seemed to lose all meaning, the pain enveloped her all and felt never-ending. But as if to answer her please the pain slowly began to subside little by little as a message appeared in front of her.

[Trial 2: Refining Mana Complete, New Mana Circuit created, Trials now completed]

"I-Its finally over?" She said slowly getting to her feet.

The same feeling of her conscience getting pulled happened once more, as she opened her eyes and found herself underwater once again she quickly got out with a gasp for breath.

"Haaaaa, haaaa..." Trying to catch her breath she slowly made her way out as she laid on the ground.

"What just happened..." She closed her eyes again, using the same sense she had first used, almost like a muscle now.

"I can still feel it, this Mana that is so abundant here."

Alexis grabbed her clothes putting them back on as she left the cave back into the Witch's house, but now Cersee was no longer at the table. A notepad and pencil are on the table in her place.

"I'll be heading out now to check on the barrier I set. When you've completed the Trials I most likely will still be out, So feel free to leave then, but first next to this notepad should be a small marble, if you put Mana into it, it'll create a doorway to wherever you'd like, including here. My doors are always open to a fellow Witch!"

Alexis chuckled reading the note before picking up the marble, it was a dark blue, and she could feel a faint amount of Mana still in it. Clasping her hands she pushed her Mana from her fingertips to the Marble, as the dark blue lightened to a shining light blue.

A door appeared out of thin air as it slowly creaked open, the sight of the trees, and the school past them. The sun now setting. She slowly and quietly walked out of the door and past the trees into the open, most of the students already lined up.

"Miss Alexis, You are the last to return, Do you have any coins?" The teacher asked.

"Ah no I don't..." She said with an awkward smile on her face as she also got into the line. She looked side to side but didn't see Lucas anywhere.

When they finally got back to the school she started walking back to her dorm room, but as she reached the dorms she felt a yank on her arm as she was pulled to the side wincing before opening her eyes to see Lucas. The anger on his face seemed to be reaching a breaking point. He firmly grabbed her arms, stopping her from moving.

Alexis winced as he tightened his hands, trying to break free from his grip.

"What are you doing let go of me!" She said with a struggle.

"What are you planning?" Lucas said looking at Alexis, not breaking eye contact.

"I-I don't know what you mean."

"I saw you, I wanted to watch what you'd do if you didn't have me watching, only for you to disappear as you walked. So let me ask you again, what are you planning."

"I-It was my command line, I-I didn't do anything, It was a quest..."

Lucas seemed to loosen his grip after hearing that, pinching the bridge of his nose as he took a few steps back. He paused for a few seconds before speaking again.

"Then why didn't you tell me, this is a school for people who have a command line..."

Alexis thought for a second, she couldn't really think of a reason, she lowered her head, without an answer to give him as she rubbed her now sore arms.

"Haaaaaaaah...well, what was the Quest for then for it to be so important you couldn't even give it any thought."

"I-It was a quest called the trials of Mana."

"Trials of Mana? I've never heard of such a quest, give me your hands, I should be able to detect Mana in you if that is the case."

Alexis held her hand out to him although slightly hesitant.

Lucas grabbed her hand, Alexis could feel the sensation of Mana going from him to her, as it spread throughout her body.

"W-What the hell...how are you...no that shouldn't...follow me now!" He said as he kept hold of her hand as they went in the direction of the dean's office.

"What going on?" She questioned, but Lucas paid her no mind as they started to run, Lucas seeming panicked.

As they reached the Dean's room Lucas slammed open the doors with a loud bang, inside the Office were The Dean and a few older men as they sat around a table seemingly startled.

"Lucas? What is going on for you to act like this."

"I need to speak with you alone at once please, It's about Alexis." He said his voice serious.

Her look changed upon hearing it was about Alexis as she stood up from the table.

"Please excuse me, if it's so serious our student council president must get involved it must be serious."

"Ah yes of course." The men said confused.

The three of them went to a separate room where they sat down.

"Alright, tell me what happened," Ashala said while looking at both of them.

"I-I can't explain it, check her body with your Mana."

"Did you manage to get Mana, I hardly find that to be worth the stir you've made, but let me see," Ashala said gently placing her hand on Alexis as she closed her eyes.

Very quickly Ashala let go of her hands in the same manner that Lucas did as she met his eyes, with the same look that couldn't quite be described with words.

"C-Can someone please explain what's going on with me for you to be acting like this!" Alexis yelled in frustration, confused at the situation around her.

They were quiet for a second before Ashala spoke.

"Alexis...You-...You should be dead right now..."
