Ch 2: Welcome to The Academy

Alexis felt sick, bending over she vomited on the floor, heaving in fear and nausea.

Looking around she saw the same terrifying scene around her, monsters she could have never imagined tearing people apart, ripping the arms from the body of live people, almost as if they enjoyed the sounds of their screams of terror and pain.

Alexis stubbled up, running as fast as she could. tears running down her face.

"Shit shit shit shit, w-what the fuck is going on right now!"

But her running was for naught, reaching a dead end she had nowhere left to run from the monster that had followed her, its speed unbecoming of its large size.

"P-please, someone helps me." She said pushing herself against the wall, out of options, her legs barely keeping her from collapsing.

She felt true despair as if giving up, she walked closer to the monster closing her eyes. She knew she was going to die, so she hoped it would at least be quick. But as she held her eyes closed, nothing happened, and nothing kept happening, slowly opening her eyes she was stunned with confusion, she was no longer in the grimy alleyway prepared to meet a painful death. Instead, she was in a hallway, windows shining light with vibrantly colored plants she had never seen before outside. Students who seemed around her age passed by with a strange look on their faces, wearing white and blue uniforms she didn't recognize.

"W-where am I?" She thought to herself, it seemed impossible for her to magically be somewhere else just as she had excepted her gruesome death, but then again, monsters that tore people apart with their hands weren't something she believed in either until she saw it firsthand.

Collecting herself as much as she could she began to walk around, the school was very large and had hundreds upon hundreds of students of various ages, she walked until she found what seemed to be an administrative office. Walking in she went to the desk where a man sat, his dark blue hair the only thing she could see.

"U-Um hello?" She stuttered.

The man looked up before his eyes grew wide, quickly standing up he walked over to her.

"Follow me please." He said in a serious tone as he led her to a separate room.

"A-ah yes!" She said following him. As she entered the separate room it looked more like an interrogation room than an office space.

Her assumption quickly bore fruit as he locked the door and slammed her against a wall.

"Gah!" The air got pushed out of her lungs at the sudden hit as she attempted to catch her breath.

"Very brave of you to come to me yourself with that on your clothes, what did you do to have so much human blood on you, I can smell it so don't lie and say it's anything else. How did you even manage to get in her without a uniform, be sure to tell the truth I'd rather not hurt you more than I need to." He said a scary look in his eyes.

"Haaaa, Haaa, I-I don't know how I got here, a-and the blood is my b-brothers, h-he was killed by a-a giant white c-creature, I-I know it sounds crazy, b-but please believe me!" She said trying to reget her breath.

His eyes seemed to widen again, as he quickly grabbed a piece of paper and a pen and started drawing.

"Did it look anything like this?" He said lifting the sketch towards her face.

Looking at the sketch she recognized it instantly, shocked the man knew too, as she nodded to confirm.

"But these haven't been seen since, 2023..." He said aloud as he pondered to himself.

"W-what do you mean since? I-it is 2023?" She said in a confused tone.

"What do you mean it's 2023? It's 2123." He said with a reflective confused look on his face.

“W-what do you mean 2123? That’s impossible!” She said stumbling as she tried to stand.

“I-It’s 2023, I-I had just left the theatre with my brother before those monsters attacked, a-and he…he…” She couldn't finish her sentence, she felt nauseous, her hands grew shaky and her legs felt like they were gonna buckle.

The man kept looking at her strangely, before sitting on a chair next to the table in the middle.

“Sit down, I'm sorry for my reaction I hope you can understand my reasons, my name is Lucas.”

“O-of course, I’m sure seeing blood would make me react harshly, and my name is Alexis.”

“Thank you for understanding, but I have something to ask you, try saying Command Connect.”

“What? Like something from a web novel? I know I may seem crazy but making me say Command Connect is ta- AAAAH” Suddenly A screen came in front of her.

Stolen from its rightful place, this narrative is not meant to be on Amazon; report any sightings.

“Command Line Connecting…”

“M-Maybe I am going crazy…” She said holding her head in her hands.”

“No, you're not, the command line, a screen that a large portion of the population experienced in 2023 when the world fell into chaos at the appearance of the Talisar, the monster you said you saw, along with thousands of other various creatures far beyond anything Humanity could face. Until the command line at least.”

“So, this screen, happened when those monsters appeared? How did that help humans though?” She said curiously.

“At the appearance of the command line, many people gained powers not too strange from games and books. Throwing humanity into a world of magical powers and medieval weapons.”

Alexis sat for a bit, staring at the screen and back at Lucas. From at the mercy of an otherworldly monster, to years in the future where their magical powers are like a fantasy novel. It felt like she was going crazy.

“You see the command line right? Your reaction certainly made it seem so.”

“M-mhm I do see it, it says connecting…”

“That's normal, it takes around a day to finalize its connection. How old are you?”

“I’m 18.”

“Then it seems you are at the perfect place, no matter how you got here. Welcome to the Final Academy, the Imperial School.”

“Huh? What do you mean?” She said confused.

“All who have a command line must go to the Imperial School to learn to use their powers so as too not to cause trouble if they lose control. So you'll attend the classes, and until we can confirm your identity, we’ll keep you under surveillance.”

“But-” Before she could finish he interrupted her.

“No buts, I'll transfer you at the end of the week, you'll get a dorm room to yourself so be happy about that at least, you are a special transfer which is rare, so if people ask about you, at least don't tell anyone about what we talked about.”

“O-oh, okay…” She didn't know what to do if she could even do anything, this was probably the best option for her, she had nowhere to go anyways.

Getting up he unlocked the door and led Alexis back to the lobby, as he called a woman over, she seemed the same age as Alexis as she wore the student Uniform.

“Anna, this is Alexis, she’s a new transfer student, I’d like you to show her around the school and then to the dormitories, ill get a room sorted for her while you walk.

“Ah, yes sir.” She said looking at Alexis’s clothes strangely.

“Thank you, get to it.” He said sitting back at his desk.

Anna nodded and looked at Alexis.

“Well let's go I'll show you around.”

Alexis nodded and followed along. She quickly learned how large the school was, with Large stadiums, training grounds, classrooms, sports areas, arenas, restaurants, and parks, the school was basically a city itself. Until they reached the dorms as the sun began to set.

“And here are the dormitories, the left is the girl's dorm where you’ll be staying, and where I stay too.” She said as she guided her into the dorm before a Teacher walk up to them.

“Ah Anna, hello there, is that girl behind you Alexsi’s perhaps?”

“Ah yes she is, we just got done with our tour.”

“Great then! Let me guide you to your dorm room then, you can go now if you’d like Anna.”

“Yes ma’am.” She said before walking away.

“Alright Alexis, let me lead you, you do not have any classes for the next week so do what you’d like till then.” She said while they walked until they reached the door to her new room.

The door was a large open space, a bed in the corner with a table and a lamp.

“You're lucky you get a dorm room to yourself, usually you have to share it with 3 others.”

“Haha…Yeah, I prefer to be alone anyways.”

“Well here's the room key, I’ll be leaving but if you need me I’m 3 doors down to the left. Have a good night.” She said her goodbyes and left the room, leaving Alexis alone.

“Haaa, I'm exhausted…” She said flopping onto her bed.

She couldn't even think for another second before her dreams pulled her in, her eyelids heavy fell, as the comfort enveloped her.

...

"Promise me you'll come to see me as soon as you can okay?"Noah asked.

Alexis froze, that sentence was all too familiar, she couldn't move, she was stuck in place her own body out of her control, like a puppet following what happened. Without choice.

"Of course, I will." She said smiling.

"Can you pinkie promi-" Once again, he was cut short. As she turned around her heart dropped again, this scene was different though, but in the worst way.

"Why Alexis, why did you let me die, It hurts it hurts so much." He said as he clawed towards Alexis.

"N-no...no, it wasn't my fault, It should have been me, not you." She said shaking, her legs buckled as she fell to the floor.

"It hurtssssss...it HURTSSSSSSS!" He said screaming and running at Alexia.

"AHHHHHH...Haaaaa, Haaaa..." And she awoke, the shadow-filled room lit only by the light of the moon that managed to pass through the curtains.

"I'm so sorry, Noah..."
