They slowly made their way into the boss room. Slowly spreading out since they had no idea what fresh horrors would await them since the dungeon had clearly been holding back for some reason. The room itself was massive with huge stone pillars holding up a massive stone ceiling with a dome carved into it long, long ago. However, whatever was there was long since lost to time with its carvings and paint long fallen to the ground below.
The walls themselves had damage from countless fights. Skeletons of many species lay broken and partial across the ground as no recovery groups dared enter boss rooms for their own safety leaving the corpses to their final resting place. As they walked in the door slowly slammed shut behind them locking them into the room.
They tensed up as the torches bathed the room in just a dim light, barely enough to see. The two humans nodded at each other and casually lifted up a few chem lights. The cracks echoed through the room as they snapped the glass capsules in the plastic tubes before shaking them and tossing them throughout the room bathing it in a deep blue light.
Then they saw it.
In the middle of the room was a giant slab of monster. Its grey skin covered in stones, bones, and other rubble from the ruins as three huge red and orange eyes slowly opened up to stare down at the group. It opened its putrid mouth showing rotting teeth as it let out a gut wrenching roar as it slowly rose to its massive bare feet. Its huge hands slowly grabbing a column of stone from the ground stained with blood as it slowly started to lumber towards the group.
“TROLL!” Zilta yelled before they all dove for cover.
The column slammed into the ground where Tezira had been sending dirt and dust flying through the air. At once the guns rattled off their reply, popping off with the bangs echoing in the huge chamber as the flashes of light lit up the monstrosity.
The bullets however lacked the grand effect they had on the smaller goblinoids. The rounds bounced off or simply dug into the stone covering the troll. Uselessly falling away without doing any damage at all. The rounds that did find flesh only dug into the beast so far. Due to the massive size of the creature while they still did damage and sometimes took chunks off the effects were notably less powerful.
It roared in pure fury, swinging its stone club towards where Jack had been firing off only to watch the human dive out of the way at the last second. Its club slamming down and shattering the floor but missing the target it wanted to crush.
“FUCK! Its too big for the bullets to get to anything vital!” John yelled out as he emptied a whole mag into the beasts arm. “And the stone is too thick! Its like shooting a fucking tank!” He yelled before dodging out of the way of the collum himself.
The troll let out another deep roar. Banging its collum randomly on the ground in pure frustration at missing the little things that were hurting it so much. Its fury causing its large eyes to frantically look around the room for them wanting to end the pain as fast as possible. When it saw a human aiming the loud noisy thing at its face it quickly raised its hand only to feel the burning pricks cover its hand.
“FUCK! Covered its eyes!” Jack yelled out in fury as he ran back for cover just as the hand he had sprayed slammed down where he had just been standing.
Nelva was not wasting her time, but she was having quite the hard time. Her staff stayed aimed at the stone collum being waved around as she chanted a simple spell. Once it was ready she gave her staff a firm flick before hiding behind a collum herself knowing the beast was going to be angry.
As the beast raised its weapon reading to slam it down where it just saw the frog it would feel its weapon shake in its hand only to feel pain as stone slammed into its head and back. Its weapon falling apart in its grip with its parts landing all over his back. The beast roared in pure fury at the fact its favorite weapon not only broke, but fell all over it managing to hurt it quite a bit. Even though it was covered in stone it would still hurt for large bits of other stone to slam into it, particularly its head.
It looked around, hunting for anything to take its frustrations out on as suddenly pain shot through its left foot and leg as a blast on top of its foot sent hot metal into it and ripped apart some of the protective stone. Tezira had managed to slip a grenade right into a crack in the stone on the beast’s foot causing the shrapnel to manage to find soft flesh and rip apart some of the stone protecting it.

The beast shrieked in pain picking up a few stones and throwing them wherever it thought someone could be. The boulders slamming into the ground and shattering sending stone everywhere as the booms of breaking rock echoed in the chamber loud enough that it would have made anyone not wearing ear protection deaf.
It then started to stomp around the room. Its massive feet slamming down with each step it took determined to try and squish at least one of the things trying to hurt it. However the delvers knew this could happen so made sure to try their best to stay close to the walls.
A few more grenades flew out at the thing’s feet. One taking a huge chunk off the boss’ left foot after it went off once the beast slammed its foot down on top of it thinking it was one of the things attacking it. Its roar grew more and more desperate as its inky black blood started to run down its body from countless wounds covering it where bullets had managed to bite into its flesh. The stone covering it grew more and more shattered as it was honeycombed with craters made by round after round slamming into it.
At long last it managed to see one of the things leap from cover. Only this time it wasn’t running! The troll screamed in pure primal fury as it lunged at the tiny thing. Not caring at all as the fluffy thing brought its arm back.
The delvers knew trying to hit the eyes with the guns was almost impossible at this point. Every time they tried to get shots off at its face it would raise a hand and cover its eye blocking the shot. Mag after mag was wasted on the callused palms of the boss that served only to piss it off more as it would ignore the pain to toss bigger and bigger stones at them.
Then Tezira had an idea.
She scurried over to Zilta who was running from cover to cover wishing she at least had brought her crossbow so she could shoot SOMETHING at the thing. Growling in pure frustration as all hell broke loose around her with her uselessly trying to keep from getting hurt. As powerful as her chain sword was she would have to get close to, or even on, the beast to do anything and to get close to it without skills the higher tier adventurers had was certain death.
She watched the kobold scurry up to her before pulling a few grenades from her pouch and putting them in Zilta’s paws. The gnoll looked down at her small friend and tilted her head right before she saw were Tezira was pointing: At her own eyes.
Zilta smiled wide at her small friend. The kobold truly did know how to ruin the day of a giant beast for sure! She took the grenades then popped out of cover, waiting for the beast to look at her as she wound up for the throw. Once those huge eyes locked onto her she pulled a pin and threw the metal ball at one of the huge eyes as hard as she could before diving for cover.
The troll slammed its fists down where she just was, rubble slamming into her causing her to yelp in panic and pain. Luckily nothing big hurt her but she ran as fast as she could to give herself room.
The grenade had struck its mark though.
The beast shrieked as the metal sphere sunk into its eye blinding it. It only managed to slam its fists down once before it rubbed its eye and staggered around in pain, wailing as it lamented its blindness. Then the grenade went off. It went silent for a bit as its black blood ran down its face before it shrieked and held its skull. The middle eye rolled around in its face uselessly as the last one, the one on the right, hunted for prey.
It staggered around trying to ignore the staggering amount of pain in its head or the fact the world tilted and spun from the concussion it had gotten from something blowing up in its head. The only reason it was not dead was due to its thick skull and the fact that it didn’t really use its tiny brain much at all.
The two humans and the frog watched stunned before lunging into action on their own to take advantage of the beast’s confusion. The humans running to one side of the room while Nelva ran to the other. The crack of gunfire filled the room as the humans shot at the dead eyes trying to get through the beast’s skull now that it struggled to see to block their bullets, but also to distract it.
On the other side of the room Nelva slowly prepped her main spell, her staff glowing as she ramped up the floor breaking chant as powerful as she could before slamming her staff onto the ground. The room shuddered as the floor broke under the trolls’ feet causing it to stumble before finally toppling over. Its damaged brain and ears refusing to let it find the balance it needed to get back up.
The other two sprung into action as Tezira dashed at the thing’s head with a grenade in each hand. She used her horns to pull the pins before tossing one grenade into its screaming maw and the other into its remaining eye. The duo stayed back until the grenades went off with wet thuds. The remaining eye giving out and the shriek cut off as teeth and blood flowed out.
At long last it was truly Zilta’s turn as she revved up her chainsword and lunged forward. The beast unable to see her or try to bite her as she ran up its blood coated face before she revved her sword and plunged it down. The teeth slowly cutting through the skin and bone of the thing’s head as John and Jack lunged forward using their power armor to grab its hands and keep them pinned down.
Black blood sprayed onto the floor as the sword sunk deeper and deeper as the troll could only gurgle in wrath and pain before it started to shudder and spasm. A bit later and it layed still as the chainsword shredded what little bits of brain were left undamaged.
The room grew silent as the looked at the troll to make sure it was dead before letting out a long cheer. The beast slain and whatever treasures ahead was all theirs.
Plus, they had made it through with only minor injuries to boot!
