After the tour, and countless questions within that tour, were over all five relaxed in the mess hall around the main table. Each person had their own drink fresh from the food dispenser. The two humans had managed to convince the three girls to try out human carbonated beverages with each one tailor picked to the girl.
Nelva was given was given a strawberry soda since she had asked for the sweetest they had. Her first sip had her let out a loud ribbit in surprise at the fact the drink bubbled in her mouth, but she happily sipped it. “This is one of the sweetest drinks I have ever had in my life! I very much enjoy it.” She calmly said even though the bubbles were causing her to let out small ribbit-esque hiccups that made her more and more flustered each time.
Zilta laughed a little at Nelva before she paused, covered her mouth, and let out an almost cartoonish burp. Her drink was a higher carbonated root beer at John’s own choice. He figured after seeing her down some very hop-heavy beer that she would like the more earthy flavor. He was right and she was already on her second glass. “Alright. Guess I deserved that for laughing.” She admitted with a chuckle as she sipped her drink some more. “Mm, stuff is good. Not a huge fan of sweet but this has just the right amount.” She explained with a nod.
Tezira was practically vibrating in her own seat however. She had ignored Jack’s advice and gone for a chemically and caffeinated drink that was named after mountains and water. It had been TK’s idea after the kobold requested something to “help her wake up” and was interested in the more “exotic” and “Chemical” flavored drinks as she got her fill of sweeter things back in her compound.
However the caffeine was “agreeing” with her small body very well. Combined with the fact that this world had very little of the chemical occurring naturally she was finding herself very “energized” by the drink. Something that made Jack quite nervous.
“My drink tastes funny but it makes me feel really good and awake!” The kobold declared as she sipped it some more. “It feels like it is biting my tounge and mouth, but it is very satisfying to drink and it gives me quite the… buzz? I think that is a good word for how I feel? Lots of energy.” She explained getting a small groan from Jack.
“Great, we hyped up a kobold on caffeine. I feel like there should be rules against that.” He mused to himself before chuckling as he sipped his own basic soda. “Alright! So lets figure out roles. Me and John can do some close quarters fighting but since we are the only ones trained and ready to use guns right now we should be more towards the rear to best use our ranged abilities.” He explained before holding up a finger towards Tezira. “Yes, we will train you three on firearms in time. No. We will not do it right away.” He explained to her before looking over at Nelva.

“I will be near them. They will help protect me if anything gets to the back. Since I have pretty much no skill in fighting up close I will always be stuck in the back using my earth and some water magic to deal damage from afar. I also know basic healing magic so that is another way I can help the group out.” She calmly explained as she sipped her soda some more. She smiled a bit before letting out another tiny ribbit and frowning since the accursed hiccups had not quite left her as she had hoped.
“I will be up front. I can take quite a bit of hits with my armor and natural body toughness. Add on natural magic resistance and the ability to have my fur magically turn rock hard and I can easily hold most of the beasts back while you three blast away.” Zilta stated as she gave her chest a good thump with a fist. “If you guys are willing to give me one of those roaring swords I could cut apart just about anything I bet.”
The two humans nodded as they heard her request. John looked over at Jack who just shrugged. “Why not? If you are working with us it makes sense to give you some good gear. Besides, even if any of our stuff was taken unless someone figures out how to carve and replace the magical gems to recharge the devices its not like a thief could use them long. Doubt anyone has the tech to copy them either.” Jack explained as he leaned back into the group.
The kobold looked between the two humans with a very hopeful look on her face. She wasn’t speaking up with what she could do in hopes the humans “offered” her things. Both Jack and john caught on fast with the bouncing kobold being quite the clue as to what her thoughts were. Jack looked over to John and raised an eyebrow before just motioning to the very hopeful woman.
John looked at her, looked back to Jack, then let out a long sigh before nodding. “Alright. Fine.” Tezira looked at them very excitedly able to figure out that she had just gotten the green light for something hopefully very fun.
“Alright. So we won’t give you firearms yet since that involves a bit more training, but we will teach you grenades and explosives. We can tell you are pretty sneaky and having high explosives suddenly slip into a crowd.”
She perked up even more. “So. I heard High and Explosive combined together.” She said with a rather concerning laugh. “If that is what I can assume from what was explained to me in the reports then I will be having a VERY good time.”
