Trembling, I slowly put my hands behind my back and gave Van Kiep a signal for plan B.
"I was afraid if I was honest about our relationship, you wouldn't believe it. Like you still don't believe that I came here from another world," I closed my eyes and shook my head.
"Stop with your nonsense before my patience wears off," Long Dao sounded cold.
Dealing with this woman was never easy. When facing her, my maxed-out BS skill couldn't have any effect on her.
"Her name… is Van Kiep," I turned my head and pointed at Van Kiep laying on the bed. "And she was… my maid," my voice cracked a little when I said 'maid'.
"Your what?" Long Dao sounded surprised.
I looked down at the ground and spoke barely, "maid."
I then peaked over to look at Long Dao's reaction. Her eyes were wide open and her mouth made a small O shape. It took her a while to process what I just said.
"Like I would believe you. Didn't you say that you're from another world? Then how do you now have a maid?" Long Dao finally asked.
"It… it is a little complicated. Even I was shocked when I found out about Van Kiep," I scratched my head and smiled weakly. "Do you have time to listen?"
"..." Long Dao didn't respond. I was anticipating her just pulling out her sword and killing us without questioning, but then, "You," Long Dao pointed at Van Kiep who was on the bed listening. "Why don't you talk? I haven't heard you speak since I came here."
Van Kiep then looked at me, her eyes were like a puppy's waiting order from their master. I nodded and secretly used my hand to signal for plan B.
"If my master has allowed me to speak," Van Kiep nodded back to me and then looked up to Long Dao. "What do you want to know?" she asked.
"Everything. From why you tried to me kill and how he is your master. Explain clearly to me or else both of you will see hell tonight," Long Dao's mouth was as sharp as ever.
"If that is what you want," Van Kiep tried to sit up. I went and helped her because she was truly exhausted from using her eyes covering spell. "I have been the master's maid since before he joined your army.
Master's family used to be wealthy, but because of the war between Lai and Hoa, we all became refugees and had to be scared for our lives every day. When we heard that Lai was opening gates to welcome refugees from anywhere, even Hoa, we jumped with excitement thinking finally we can have peace of mind.
So we all traveled to Lai, but on the way, we unfortunately encountered bandits. Even though we gave them all our belongings, they still wanted to kill us. We all ran away individually to save our lives. I thought I was the only survivor of that horrible tragedy.
Unauthorized duplication: this narrative has been taken without consent. Report sightings.
Later when I tried to escape the woods that I was hiding, once again, I was caught. Not the bandits but this time, slave traders. They put me in chains and forced me into a cage. I thought my life would end there.
But that night when you bought me, it was also the first time that I saw my master again. I saw how he talked to you and you push him down the ground. At then I thought you also had a master as a slave, now I knew that was not the case.
That was why I tried to kill you. To free master and me." Van Kiep followed the plan perfectly. I was afraid that she would slip up and call me 'my prince', but luckily that didn't happen.
"Very clean explanation. It was like you have practiced it or something," Long Dao glanced at me. I tried to smile while my back was sweating.
Long Dao then walked up to Van Kiep. Their eyes were fierce like a lion and a tiger looking down upon the other. Let me tell you, man, you don't want to be in the same CITY with two women fighting each other. Let alone that I was in the same ROOM.
"Din," Long Dao called while they were still staring.
"Yes general?" I was preparing myself.
"I hate this girl," that was out of nowhere.
"O… OK?" my voice was cracking like hell when hearing that.
"Because she is just like me. Brutally honest," Long Dao finally broke the staring competition and looked at me. "But I can't say the same thing about you."
"Why is that?" I asked.
"Because her story and yours don't add up. I believe that she was telling the truth. So now is your turn to explain yours," Long Dao said calmly. Like a general, she was controlling the conversation.
"What part do you not understand?" I asked another question.
"Your existence," she answered shortly.
I paused and closed my eyes before speaking. "You had this all plan out, just don't f*ck it up!" I encouraged myself. I then opened again and continued with plan B.
"As I told you before general, I came from another world. What I said was still true then and now. I will tell you everything, but I hate it when the reality is unbelievable just like fantasy," I said.
"Don't waste my time with your word playing. It is night and I am tired," Long Dao cut the chase.
I held myself together and continued, "That night after I rescued you from Van Kiep assassination, and that bastard was me by the way, Van Kiep if you are still wondering who it was. She sneaked into my room and surprised me like hell. I didn't know who she was and started questioning her. Van Kiep told me the EXACT same thing she told you and that was all I know. I told her that I was not the person she was looking for, but Van Kiep didn't listen and insisted on following me no matter what.
That is why her condition is like this. She used her eyes covering spell so much that it exhausted her. When I found out, I told her to follow us in the back if she still wanted to be with me, but she was too traumatized when she and her master separated.
Without any choice, I came up with this small plan to let her stay here to recover and don't have any worries from not seeing me."
"So… you are not my master?" Van Kiep was the one talking this time.
I looked at her guiltily and shook my head, "I am sorry, you were looking so desperate back then that I just couldn't tell you the truth."
"I understand now. That must be why your personality is so different," Van Kiep sounds depressed. "I am just a desperate person. Sorry for causing you trouble all this time." With all her strength, she stood up and bowed at me. Van Kiep should win Oscar of the year.
"Well general, is there anything more you want to know?" I turned and asked Long Dao.
Long Dao didn't respond right away. She was taking her time to think and smiled, "Somehow you were able to connect the two completely different stories. We even have a little touching play at the end."
"Does she know this is a play?" I was panicking internally.
"Lucky for you that I know magic. If you both were telling lies, your head would have exploded after I cast my truth spell on you two," Long Dao said.
"You did what?" I was shocked when I heard that.
"Truth spell, very effective in the court to ensure the truthfulness. I was able to secretly learn it from one of my father's friends," Long Dao explained.
"So… are we safe now?" I asked.
Long Dao didn't say anything and answered my question by walking out of the tent.
"Phew," me and Van Kiep at the same time. We looked at each other and had a big laugh after that.
"Lucky for us she didn't find out about the pla…" Van Kiep spoke but I quickly covered her mouth.
"Let's talk tomorrow, who knows if she is still outside," I said.
Her face then got red and I just realized what I did. I quickly moved away from her.
"Have some rest, I will be nearby so don't worry about me," I hid my blushing face from her.
"Uhm… yes my prince," she turned back to be a sweet girl now.
I then went out of the tent and slept inside the tent of my unit. My eyes slowly got heavy and that was the end of this crazy night.
I know that this Diary is not action-packed as others, but soon my friend... soon.
End of Diary.
