After lying down for a few more minutes I was back on my feet again. “What kind of healing factor is that?” Howell asked me. “I’m not too sure myself. But it is a good healing factor” I replied. Meanwhile I saw Tesha waiting for me. After Howell had finished talking she pounced on me and started hugging me hard. A bit too hard. After a while she let go and then we exited the room. I then saw a message from the system pop-up and it said “Skill potency has increased by 0.1%. Current potency: 3.1%. Potency over other similar type skills has increased by 2.2%”. In my head I thought about this message. “Are there other types of players that have similar skills to me?” I asked myself.
At that moment from the corner of my eye I noticed something. For the first time in 2 years it showed my skill’s rank. My skill’s rank was at ‘???’ for the past 2 years and what it showed me confused me even more than I already was. It said the skill’s rank was ‘O’. Howell, seeing the confusion in my face, asked me “Is there something bothering you?”. I replied “It’s nothing but I’m curious about this. I’ve been hearing rumours about a guy with an ‘O’ rank skill. Any idea what it could mean?”. As soon as I finished uttering those words “OSMOSIS! Uh wait that seems wrong. ‘Oh my god’? Honestly that would be quite funny. How about…”. His rambling continued on for the next 20 minutes until we reached a restaurant.
Just then I realised that it was my favourite restaurant. We hadn’t been here in the 2 years whilst at the police station, due to it being quite pricey. Just then I saw a man walk in through the door right after us. He was one of the S-rank delvers. His name was Cassius Osborn. It is said that his abilities came from god. Literally. He had to pray at least twice a day and he would gain his powers. He had access to Holy magic(which most monsters have a weakness to) and he also had access to water magic. He was also very physically strong, had good endurance and was very fast. Honestly, there was nothing much which could beat him at that point in time.
As soon as the doors to the restaurant opened and people saw Cassius, people began whipping out their phones and they were recording him. He went to the counter and ordered food like a normal person would but after he did the shop workers went and got him his food prepared first without paying regard to the people who were already waiting. This pissed me off a bit but then I remembered how this world was. It’s a world where the strong rule and the weak bow before the strong. And there’s nothing we could do about it. That is, unless someone made a change. But I wasn’t planning on being that man. All I wanted was a peaceful life and god had already robbed me off of it. After all, I had stopped believing in God after my mother died.
A case of literary theft: this tale is not rightfully on Amazon; if you see it, report the violation.
My mother was a woman who deeply believed in God and always believed that whatever you do in this world, always comes back to you(be it in a good way or a bad way). My mother was always very kind to people. Back in the day when she was alive, she owned a restaurant. But she wasn’t expecting to die as soon as she did, so she didn’t have a will. Just like that the government snatched away our land and the entire company from our family. And that’s how we got stuck in this predicament of having to go to these dungeons. Like where did the dungeons even come from? It pisses me off thinking about it. But then again. My mother was always very naïve. She would never suspect anyone to be plotting against her until it was too late. It was from my mother’s mistakes that I learned to always be cautious of other people. Especially those I had just met.
After a while Cassius left the restaurant and the que continued like normal. Eventually we passed up our orders and we received our food. We sat on one of the tables next to one of the windows. I stared at my food and then outside the window. My vision flickered and showed me the memory from 2 years ago. It was at that moment I also remembered that just a few hundred metres away from here was where everything had gone down. I stared back again at my food. It was a mini burger which had a flag on it. But for some reason I couldn’t bring myself to eat it. There was this weird churning in my stomach, kind of like the one you get when you are nervous. Eventually my sister stuffed the burger down my mouth and I almost choked.
I swallowed it and scolded Tesha. She apologised but she also said that I was taking too long. Eventually we had dinner and then Howell and I parted ways. Eventually we got to a place known for having pretty good rooms at a reasonable price. Oh yeah, I forgot to mention this earlier but while I was asleep in the room, my sister and Howell had gone to collect the money for completing the dungeon. We saw the price of the room and we paid it to the receptionist. The receptionist opened up a drawer and pulled out a key card for our room. Our room number was room ‘131’ on the first floor where the more affordable rooms were. The hotel was really big since there were like 50 rooms on one floor and there were 30 floors. Eventually we got to our room. I laid down on the bed breathing in the air-conditioned air. It felt nice, this bed. Before I knew it I had been knocked out like a log.
