Chapter 3: Sudden Intrusion

Chapter 3: Sudden Intrusion

“Yo wassup! Is that you Dom?” asked Howell. “Yep it’s me alright”. Howell was one of the few people that I could consider a friend. Everyone else just straight up hated on me for being weak. Howell and I did our handshake.“So how’s everything been going? I heard a monster attacked the part of the city you were in. Are you and your family alright?” Howell asked. “Welp, my sister is fine… But my mother. Not so much” I replied.

“I see… Sorry for your loss. The area where I was in too was attacked. My entire family was killed. What was your monster like though?” he said. “You too, Rowe. Sorry for your loss. Well we saw two monsters. One looked like a black dragon and the other one was like a golem with green eyes and mouth” I replied. “Ours was a giant flaming bird. We only had one, but it still caused so much destruction…” Howell said.

Suddenly we heard a BANG from the bunk behind us. We went to check on it and when we did we saw a bunch of wolves were pouring into the station through that wall. I told my sister to go and hide while me and Rowell defended her. “Howell, what abilities do you have?” I asked. “Fire manipulation,” he said. “Our skills might work well together,” I said. “Generate Plastic. Plastic manipulation” I said. A bunch of plastic started flying quickly towards the wolves hitting them in the eyes. The wolves started squealing in pain.

“You know what to do Howell,” I said. Howell then ignited a small flame just above his finger and then threw it at the wolves. The wolves burst out into flames and started squealing even more. Eventually the squealing stopped and Howell stopped the fire. “Damn, that scared me,” said Howell. “Same. It happened while we were talking too,” I replied.

“Welp we better get going Dom”. “Yeah we should head back to our bunks. Which room were you staying in?” I asked. “Room 303. You?”. “I’m in Room 350,” I said. “Ok. Imma see you later Dom,”. “Ok bye Howell,”. I started shouting to tell my sister the monsters were gone and then she came out. “Are you okay?” I asked her. She replied with “I should be asking you that!”. “I'm fine Tesha. Are you okay though?”. “Yep. I’m alive and well” she replied. We went back to our bunks. I fell down onto it and started spreading my limbs outwards. My sister started cuddling me and then eventually we both fell asleep.

2 Years Later

My sister has gotten her first skill. She got the skill ‘Sword God’. She is now about thirteen years old if I’m not mistaken. Humanity has now come up with a way to prevent these monster attacks by entering something known as a dungeon - which is where the monsters came from. A dungeon can appear anywhere as long as there is enough mana in the air. Mana is released automatically by the human body and gathers up into the air.

The story has been stolen; if detected on Amazon, report the violation.

In severe cases if there are too many people in a certain area it can lead to mana poisoning which if not treated fast enough can cause a person to die. Mana is also released by any type of animal or monster so the longer a dungeon is left hanging the denser the mana will be. But if the mana is denser you can spam your skills more and vice-versa. This idea also affects the monsters and animals. If the mana around the dungeons becomes too dense it can cause a dungeon break causing the monsters in the dungeon to break out. Now back to the story.

It was a Monday morning. My sister had already started sleeping in her own bunk, although it was underneath me. The man underneath us had died in a dungeon quest so the bed was free for the taking. At this point more people were dying than new people were coming to live in the station. And yes. We are still living in the station.

One of the highest paying jobs in this current time is Dungeon Exploration but it has huge risks. And besides if anyone found out I had casualty warping they would want me in their guild(essentially on their leash). While the world was rebuilding itself a few prominent talents had shown up. One of them being Howell, my friend. He had very potent fire magic which let him rise to fame. After more and more people started getting skills, a ranking system was implemented with F being the weakest and S being the strongest. Howell was in a small gap between A rank and S rank.

They also managed to find a skill checker. This was a big problem for me so I just removed its existence in its entirety. Life had been peaceful for a while then. Me and my sister were just scavenging for food at this point and occasionally(I used Causality Warping) some people would give us food. These were the good days where we didn’t have to do anything. That is until the police station kicked us all out when the economy had been rebuilt enough. Now my sister and I needed a source of income.

“Tesha, we need to get money now…”I told her. “Stop being lazy. Besides I always wanted to go into a dungeon” she said. “Tesha, dungeons will be a last resort and even if we have to, I will go” I told her. “But why? I have a skill” she countered. “We don’t know whether your skill is good or not. I’m not risking losing you too, Tesha” I said. She then said “Hmm… I have a compromise you could go with. You take me to one dungeon. If my skill is bad don’t take me again. If it is good, I will join you in the dungeons permanently after that”. “Ok. But only if you can fend for yourself” I told Tesha.

We started walking around town looking for any job posters. We walked around for an hour but there were none. “Damn, seriously no jobs… Welp, I might have to go into dungeons after all” I said. “What do you mean ‘I’? We are going together since we need to raise our official rank to go into more difficult dungeons. Besides, an F-ranker needs a party of two to enter an E-rank dungeon” she said. “That is true. But remember just this once” I reminded her.

We started walking to the IGF(International Guild Federation) and then we walked in and registered ourselves as ‘Dungeon Delvers’. We then waited for an hour and got our Identification Cards. We walked to a reception table. We asked them for any Dungeons which they had control over. They only had control over starter dungeons but that was perfect for us. We accepted one and after walking all the way there we saw it. It was a house. The dungeon’s entrance was the door and it supposedly was like going into another world. I took a deep breath and while clenching my sister’s hand we entered the dungeon.
