5-Stone

It was 2 weeks after Fost and his group left

Everything Seemed peaceful

The mines were drained of water

Everyone was working

Cliff was Forging tools and smelting ingots.

Maij Finally Maxed out the Acolyte Class and Chose Basic Sorcerer

Rein now had two completed classes Scribe and Woodcarver. Due to a lack of Paper, she chose the Class Papermaker, this gave her ways to make paper out of Wood pulp and various other plant material.

Phynn Finished both Hunter and Ranger and was halfway through Acolyte with Maijs’ Help.

Ram who was a Farmer, still had a long way to go but after planting the beans potatoes and Barley two weeks ago, they looked as if they had 4 Weeks of growth due to the Advanced growth skill.

The other Anan also contributed levelling up and choosing classes meant to better the Mountain Kingdom.

It was for such a reason that after 5 months levelling up Tool-smith, Cliff could now choose a new one.

After many debates by himself and with the help of Rein and Phynn, that he came to a decision.

Originally, Cliff was torn between Weaponsmith, armour smith and Mason.

Both smiths would aid them in the long term for defense and hunting but, if he wanted to turn the insides of the Mountain into a kingdom instead of a mishmash of tunnels the Mason class would be greatly needed.

Thankfully both Rein and Phynn were in agreement that Mason would be better.

Since they wanted nicer homes and potentially a nice big wall to keep attackers out of the mountain.

Thus, He chose Mason

Deciding the best place to start his new quarry was the deep ravine that the river forked into.

With many trips he excavated the soil from the surface moving it to the Piles of dug up material that he had near the mountain. after 5 days of work, he cleared 100 meters width of the western ravine side, then he began cutting.

The Stones he planned to place in the mountain had to be sturdy, so he made blocks 5x4x3 meters in dimensions.

Each block was heavy but he was able to lift each one out of the pit, which he then began piling in neat rows closer to the mountain for future use.

Strangely the Stone sight did not tell him what kind of stone he was cutting, but based off of the look it resembled Granite. Though if it was granite he should have a harder time cutting it, at least you would think so. Though Cliff thought that his High Strength stat could be the reason why.

Block by Block he cut into the ground

Each one was roughly cut before he did the finer cuts to smooth the block, before then being piled with the rest.

Going back home he waved to Phynn who seemed to be flirting with Maij by the river

Entering his pantry, he grabbed some jerky before going back outside to eat under the dying light. Chewing on the thick chunk of meat he soon became embroiled in his thoughts. “It was nice having a smaller group of people, but He hoped that Fost could find signs of Humans and how they were making out in this new world.”

“He new from a historical outlook most people probably began preying on the weak and forming group of bandits. Humanity was both beautiful and ugly. Though he was worried that racism would cause a schism with many other species. How could most of earth accept someone like the Anan or the Gaa if they couldn’t even tolerate someone of a different skin colour.”

Before He could continue thinking more a warm Body sat down close to him on his log.

Looking to the presence he saw Rein the Scribe.

“Before Fost left, He said you wanted someone to take a governmental role? What do you need me to do?”

“to be quite honest I don’t know so far, but maybe could you keep a registry of Peoples names, classes and where they are from? Also, When I get into building the city properly, I will need not only Building plans but we will also want to start a currency. My thinking is we have a city sponsored shop that buys everything at a certain cost which we dictate, then we can sell it in our shop or to outside cities. So, we will need someone to Act as a shopkeeper and Merchant along with someone to keep the Cities inventory.”

Pausing he then continued “though something I want you personally to do is become a Minister of the city, though I am not exactly sure what you will be in charge of in the long run, I am hoping you could maybe become the record keeper/historian.”

Rein Smiled slightly at this “I would be pleased to help with Managerial work, thought I would be greatly pleased if we get more scribes. As for the Building Plans, I used to study architecture on Lars So I can have a few sketches done in a week.”

“” thank you, some key aspects I want are Various warehouses centralized based off of the sector for example; the ore/ingot warehouse in the center of all metalworking shops, lumber warehouse in the center of all Woodworking, etc.”

I would also Like Homes to be in a separate section of the mountain and furthest away from the workshops that create the most noise. I will be digging it so the inside of the mountain is hollow so don’t forget to put in Different levels, maybe have the Offices in the High levels.” “Secondly I will cut the city in half in the center of the Mountain, here there will be a pit dug for the mine, Gurneys will be raised and lowered for Miners to get to each level, and I would love a Grand Bridge spanning the Pit to the other side of the mountain.”

Rein nodded and smiled gently “you are always working so diligently, just know sometimes the best milestones come after a break.”

After another Pause, she left leaving Cliff alone again.

” This world is not for the weak who rest on their laurels! I will dig deep into the mountain and Build A kingdom so grand not even Smaug could take it over like Erebor!”

--

In a week’s time Construction began on the new kingdom

The mine entrance was expanded to be 40 meters wide and 33 meter high. In the future this would be blocked off by a wall and Steel gates.

The Entrance continued as a Hallway until 100 meters in and that was when the Major work began.

With the Help of Maij and Phynn to keep the Mountain from caving in, Cliff and the others began Excavating a large cavern, leaving pillars every to act as a temporary support which would be replaced with quarry stone pillars which hopefully would be carved with images.

The Main cavern inside the big mountain was dug to be 3kmwideX7kilometers long and 6Kilometers high.

After getting the Cavern Roughly dug, they then dug into the mountain a1kmx500meter pit layout.

This would become the future mine but before it could be dug deeper, they Recreated the Main Cavern on the other side of the mine.

As these vast quantities of soil, and stone were removed so was tons and tons of ores, many of which Cliff didn’t even get a chance to Inspect with his skill, though when he got a break that was going to be on the to-do.

For the rough layout of buildings to be placed

The Hallway entrance Had 1 Barracks being built on either side of the Hall, both having an armoury attached. Each Barracks would hold 500 people max.

The Hallway entrance would also have a Custom/ processing office. This would deal with Merchants entering and leaving with goods along with new visitors or people attempting to become citizens of the Mountain.

Past the Barracks but before the Main Cavern that was when the planned railway system would start. Cliff was no fool, he knew that with ore being heavy and other materials coming into the mountain they would need a faster way to move them, so they planned to build railways which would have manpowered carts to start with and hopefully with the help of enchanting become self powered.

To help with railway traffic there would be a railway office at the entrance and near the mine pit to make things more expedient.

On either side of the Railway there would be built cobbled streets for both carts and people. Thankfully having grown up in Canada where they have very poor planning for the future Cliff knew to leave extra room between where the streets and actual buildings start. Yes, he knew that was a waste of current space, but in cities like London, or Toronto after a few decades of growth they always had trouble improving infrastructure because they never left room for it, thus making everything congested. But hopefully he would not have that problem.

The railways would then branch off 2 to each warehouse, and this was where the workshops would go for their materials.

Now to save space, it was planned to make apartment like Workshops. For example, a 10 floored Smithy that would have 4 individual workshops on each floor.

So far with space available there would be 10 such apartments built in each sector.

Probably they would need more built as the population grew, to keep everything inside the Mountain, Reins plan was that every 100 meters deep the Mine pit went an elevator could be added along with a new floor which would hold more homes, workshops and Warehouses.

--

3 months pass, the Spring turns into summer

Cliff and the others spent every waking moment dedicated to building the insides of the city, reinforcing the caverns with Pillars, building roads, houses and other buildings. Along with this work, daily things like farming and cooking along with others must be done

Though in the back of everyone’s mind they are constantly worried about Fost and the 3 others that left almost 4 months ago and have returned.

Along with their disappearance the mountain people have not seen any wanderers in the area. Not even the Hunters have spotted another Sapient creature.

Today though was a special occasion

Today not only was Cliff building his home but he was building his personal Forge.

His home and Forge would Be together on the Far Side of the Mine pit.

Here they would also include the Vault which in the future would house precious materials and artifacts. Using the Rainbow granite Cliff made his Forge larger than others, He included 3 store rooms, 1 for ingots, 1 for finished products and 1 for experiments. He would also include his own smeltery, along with a large Anvil and a Bin that would hold Sand for molds, a Basin for quenching and many racks for tools. On Reins suggestion he also bult a shop on the Entrance side of the pit, here all of his future product would be sold.

During these many months of Hard work Cliff has had a chance to change classes twice since being a Mason. First, He chose to upgrade Miner into Master miner which not only ranked up All mining skills to master level 1 it also gave a nifty skill called No-cave which was a no rank skill that affected each tunnel/ cavern that was dug by his hands so that there would never be a cave in unless he meant to do it.

After Finishing Master Miner, he then upgraded Mason to Master Mason.

This did the same to his Mason skills ranking them all to Master. The special skill offered was stone meld this allowed him to fuse stone together to make seamless walls and blocks. It really saved time from making mortar, and the stone strength seemed to increase from the meld

It was as He was scrolling through his new class options that he discovered a Class called Mountain Saint
