Something he disliked after finding out from the system was that to rank up a skill he had to earn 10x the regular amount of experience, so at the next rank level 1 the experience required would go back down to 10,000.

Now it was time for the most vital part the new class

For a bit he was interested in choosing the hunter class to improve his skinning of animals for better clothes but he felt that he should play the long game. If he wanted to be king under the mountain then each step had to be followed religiously.

Before he could back out, he chose the smelter class

Smelter Grants CON 2, INT 1. Interested to see what increasing Int would do, he was especially pleased to see that he could now improve CON this would hopefully decrease the effects that the cold weather would have on him.

The skills offered were

Beginner smelting lvl 1: gives beginner knowledge of smelting and equipment

Beginner identify purity level 1- while touching metal identifies purity (current level does not work on Alloys)

With how cold it was getting Cliff hollowed out two new rooms in his mountain. The first was the Wood/charcoal room here he would store wood for burning and to make charcoal. The second would be his Smelting room and temporarily the forge.

Creating furnaces and making ingot molds out of bronze

when this was done Cliff started going out to chop wood to bring back to turn into charcoal.

After awhile when he was on his 10th tree, he heard a metallic banging in the distance, but due to the echoes he could not discern the direction of whence it came.

Taking a chance hoping to see more people he began shouting saying he was human and to come to the mountain.

Hearing the clanging still continuing Cliff went back to cutting wood and creating charcoal.

The next three days Cliff continued to cut wood, but the clanging seemed to have stopped.

It was on the fourth day that the birds around his mountain went silent and still.

Deciding to hide out in his mountain, the man finally began melting metals.

And since the new Identify purity only worked on un-alloyed metals, Cliff decided to not create bronze.

Over the course of a day smelting and hauling ores from the outside sheds, Cliff was able to smelt 50 bars of 1 pound copper at 5% purity, 15 bars of tin at 8%purity.

Stacking the finished bars in their own piles in the corner Cliff called it a day and went back to his house cave to eat some cooked squirrel.

Something that Cliff found out after killing the racoons, was that other animals began to re-appear. He believed that the raccoons were eating and scaring off everything else, which was funny since in his world raccoons were the unwanted cousin that no one cared for but were not afraid of.

It was a week after the clanging noise he heard outside

At this time, he has smelted close to 800 bars of copper at 20% purity and 1000 bars of tin at 30%. Unfortunately, his fire is not hot enough to make iron above 4% so he set it aside till he could find a better billows to get the fire hotter.

The Gant was also only at 2% purity but Cliff could not figure out why even with his beginner smelting.

The coppon on the other hand has reached 15% purity. This metal seemed to look like regular copper but was slightly stronger but lighter at the same time, only problem he found was that after the initial smelt the coppon had a lower melting threshold compared to copper or tin.

It was as he was hauling in the last amount of tin, he had that he heard snow crunching down.

Looking in the sounds direction he saw a huge bipedal creature that was matted in fur. It seemed to lumber slowly in his direction and was 100 meters away

Terrified, Cliff swore and rushed inside his home for his bronze axe.

Coming out of the tunnel he saw the creature was now 50 meters and he now had a better view of its characteristics.

It was at least 8 feet tall and was covered in hair. The arms were long and gangly.

And the face looked apelike, all in all this creature reminded him of the bigfoot from American folk lore.

Astonished cliff yelled out “BigFoot?! Stop where you are!!”

Surprisingly the creature listened and stood still. Then it spoke “I am no Bigfoot; I am Phynn a member of the Gaa’la’Ranid. What are you?”

“I am Cliff a Human of Earth.”

“Kindly met Cliff of Earth, could you spare a place by your fire for the night? Maybe some food? My original group was set on by bandits and I am the only survivor.”

The height of Phynn intimidated Cliff, but he felt that in the short tunnels where the hairy creature had to crouch, cliff would have a chance to protect himself.

Nodding in ascent he waved the Gaa’la’ranid inside his tunnel.

As he expected the 8foot tall creature had to hunch down in the 6 foot tunnels

Directing Phynn into his home, Cliff grabbed some meat from his pantry.

Coming back into the house he saw that Phynn already had the fire going.

This astounded cliff since it was only less than a minute.

“So, Phynn, where was your group heading before you were attacked?”

“ever since Ranid Merged with the other three planets I was able to group up with 12 other Gaa, and 3 Gni de Bos. We have been roaming the land during the winter in hopes of finding a good spot to start up a new home in the spring. How about you? are there any others here?”“no just me. After being sent here, I chose a miner class and set up shop in the mountain. I plan to live here and build a glorious mountain kingdom.”

“Well, you can’t have a kingdom without people. Would you let me stay here? I can work and help around the place.”

It did not take Cliff long to come to a decision. It was lonely all alone in his mountain. “Yes, that would be great. What is your class?”

“I am at level 30 of hunter my first class. The skills granted are all beginner for Tracking, Archery, Animal dismantling and tanning.”

“Nice that is a good initial load out, maybe you could help me with a few things I need, in my storage I have 3 giant racoon pelts that need tanning and I want them to be turned into coats and blankets. Also, I need some large pieces of leather for a new billow. Can you take on one of those?”

“Yes, I can. I will start the pelts tomorrow, and keep my eye out for any good animals with strong leather.”

After warming up the meat, the two ate and went bed.

Phynn curled up beside the fire while Cliff went to his corner of grass and leaves.

As Cliff drifted off to sleep, he could not help but be thankful that with one more person around he could focus more time on improving his skills and class.

--

The next day Cliff woke up to being alone inside the room.

The fire was refilled already and his axe was missing.

Grabbing a chunk of leftover meat, he went out side to look for Phynn but all he found was the raccoon hides sitting in a hollowed-out log filled with a strange liquid.

Seeing that his hairy roommate was nowhere to be found, he went back to smelting Copper and Coppon, since he was all out of Tin to smelt.

But today he noticed something strange with his smelting.

As he smelted copper his brain seemed to be working at a faster pace then it usually was.

He now seemed to know instinctively how to semi-properly separate impurities from the metal. Finally accomplishing an ingot with 60% pure copper.

Confused at such a large jump from the other day, he pulled up his status and found a shocking sight

Beginner Mining lvl 50 [10/100,000rankup]: gives beginner mining knowledge

Beginner Construction Lvl 35 [40/2000: grants beginner knowledge of construction joints

The story has been taken without consent; if you see it on Amazon, report the incident.

Beginner Identify metals lvl 50 [2500/3000] :can identify basic description of metal within sight

Beginner axe lvel 50[10,000/100,000] increase axe durability 150%

Beginner smeltinglvl 25: gives beginner knowledge of smelting and equipment

Beginner identify purity level 18- while touching metal identifies purity (current level does not work on Alloys)

Beginner smelting Temperature sight Lvl 2 [0/60]-allows the gauging of optimal temperature for smelting un-alloyed metals

Seeing this Cliff was impressed

With each class he completed the more amazing he would become.

That Temperature sight paired beautifully with his enhanced intelligence which was four times better than his old self.

But looking at his old skills he was disappointed at how slow they were at progressing. Though it did make sense since he has greatly reduced his mining in favour of smelting.

Going through the day, hundreds of pounds of copper were smelted ranging from 60-80% purity. But that seemed to be his limit with the amount of heat his billows could produce.

Taking a break from smelting Cliff decided to build a room that branched off of the smeltery, which in the future would be attached to the smithy. This room he made to be 15 meters cubed. When the room was hollowed, he went out to look for trees to make into shelves to keep his ingots out of the dirt.

As he stepped out of the mountain tunnel he saw Phynn for the first time today.

The hairy giant was sitting on a log and bending what looked to be a stiff piece of fur.

“Hey Phynn eh nice to see ya, what are you working on?”

The giant smiled before lifting his work up.

“I am making a hooded jacket for you, and later a pare of gloves for me. I went tracking earlier and found some Bovine prints, hopefully we will have leather soon.”

“Anyway, I forgot to ask, what is your class at?” asked Phynn

“Well, I am now into my second-class smelter level 15. Next one will probably be tool smith before I move into weaponsmith.”

Phynn released a whistle “whew, you are just running through those levels, I wish animals were as abundant as metal in a mountain!”

“Yeah, it might get better in the future, there use to be a lot less animals but after I killed those giant raccoons more animals seem to be coming around.”

“that’s good to know, I will keep my eye out for potential predators. Also do you Mind if more people come to the mountain? I saw faint traces of smoke to the west, maybe there are more people there”

“no-yeah, I would be happy to have more company. But we need to make sure that they will not steal everything and butcher us.” Stated Cliff

Phynn simply nodded.

Separating Cliff went back to cutting trees and hauling their logs to his metal storage.

Making rows of 3 feet wide log shelves, Cliff then began sorting the ingots by their type and purity.

The better purity was stored at the back while the worse purity was in the front, so that when he masters smelting, he can redo the shitty ones.

--

It was not till the next week that Phynn came back with a Bovus.

Now a Bovus was like any other bovine from earth. But the Bovus was from Ranid.

The Bovus looked like a highland cow, but it was much bigger, the one that Phynn killed was 3000 pounds and was the smaller side of its species.

While Phynn spent the rest of the day tanning the leather for a billow, Cliff smokes the meat and kept the bones aside for future crafting projects.

After examining the leather, it was found it was 3x thicker than a hephers hide.

Seeing the quality of the hide, Cliff wanted to make the new billows big and sturdy.

Carving paddles out of what looked to be a purple Ironwood tree that were 5feetx4 feet, he then made rivets out of Bronze and turned some crude iron at 10% impurity into a pipe to keep the Billows from catching fire.

After making the Leather nice and pliable, Phynn and Cliff began the assembly and installing a one-way valve.

It only took 1 hour, and after that time Cliff threw out his old billows and installed the new one.

And by god did that increase of oxygen sure affects the smelting of the metal.

Copper now reached 100% purity along with tin.

But the Iron reached up to 50% inconsistently.

Cliff put the inconsistency down to him having worked more with the tin and copper compared to the Iron.

Using both of his inspection skills just by sight he could now tell it was ferrous-Pig Iron and touching it showed Iron purity 50% impurities unknown 50%

Pleased with the results Cliff could not wait to find out what the impurities were and how to deal with them properly.

POV-Phynn

He could not be happier.

Not even 2 weeks ago that he ran from his murdered friends fearing for his life.

It was when he was freezing in the weather that he found his salvation

smoke was being emitted from the base of a mountain.

Approaching the smoke he soon met a new friend named Cliff.

Now Cliff was a weird guy, instead of choosing any survival or combat class the twit chose Miner! Especially when he was all alone in the wilderness!

But he could not deny the results, the constant effort it must take to now be in his second class and not even 2 months after the 4 worlds merged.

Feeling the urge to keep up, He decided today was great day to improve his hunting class which currently stood at class hunter level 49 [5000/8000]

Tracking different animals was a slow process but a constant supplier of exp.

Loading a rock into his sling, he approached a bush which a large pair of hoove prints passed through.

Crouching low into the brush he slowly looked over to see if he could spot any animals and that’s when he spotted it.

It looked similar to the Human Cliff.

The creature had the upper body of a human with horns on its head, and the legs were furry and shaped like a donkey and ended in hooves.

Observing the creature, he saw that it was setting a snare trap with some strange looking string, it seemed almost transparent but when moved had a little sheen to it.

He stood there observing the scene without causing any noise.

It was only when the creature stood up to leave did Phynn speak.

“Hello, horned man? I am Phynn of Ranid and you?”

This spooked the horned man to jump up in fear.

Immediately it pulled a knife and growled at Phynn

“Where did you come from? What do you want.?’ Said the horned being.

“I came from the east, following tracks. What I want is your name.”

“I am Fost, an Anan of Lars.”

Feeling nervous Phynn continued speaking “well Fost, I have a camp with a human of Earth named Cliff. DO you want to come back and join us?”

“Why would I come with you? how do I know you won’t rob me?”

“Well, you don’t, so I would just take a chance.”

Having spoken his piece, Phynn turned off and began going back home to the mountain, and out of the corner of his eye he could sense Fost slowly following him.

Travelling back, Phynn grabbed a bag of rabbits that he hung on a tree limb before tracking to the Anan.

Getting to the mountain he rushed into the Smeltery to find Cliff banging out ingots from his tin.

“Hey Cliff, I found a creature called Anan, his name is Fost and He has followed me back, could you join me outside?

After saying this he walked on back to the entrance.

There he saw Fost the Anan hiding behind a tree looking in his direction.

--

--

Pov- Cliff

The moment Phynn rushed in Cliff was alarmed.

But hearing that it was just a stranger he was not too worried since anything that bleeds can be killed.

Upon this thought he grabbed his bronze hammer since the axe was still outside.

Walking outside he saw the Anan standing behind a tree, deciding to take the first step Cliff walked to a clump of fallen logs and sat on one waving both the Anan and Phynn over to join him.

At first Phynn and Cliff sat there in silence for 5 minutes before Fost joined them.

“Hello, as you learnt earlier this is my friend Phynn and I am Cliff. What is your name?”

The Anan hesitated before answering “I am Fost, what are you doing in the mountain and how many of you are here?”

Taking a risk Cliff replied “it is just the two of us, I am a miner so that is my mine and we also live there. How many people are in your group?”

Fost did not reply for a bit before speaking “I can’t tell you yet. But are you alright with others joining you here?”

Cliff was glad that they were now getting somewhere “I would love more people, but if they cause problems, I will deal with them. They must also chip in and do work that’s needed like cooking, home building and wood gathering. But if they have a class that can benefit us in other ways that is great.”

The Anan nodded before abruptly getting up and leaving before anything else could be said.

Stunned Cliff looked at Phynn who simply grunted in confusion.

--

It wasn’t until three days after the meeting that Fost came back.

But this time there were 10 others with him.

6 were Anan 4 female 2 male, and 4 looked human but they had strange ears.

Fost walked up to him “Cliff, I am a trapper and behind me is my group, we were wondering if we could join you here at the mountain?”

Cliff agreed and asked for their classes.

Besides Fost there was 1hunter, 2 herbalist, 2 farmers, 1 tailor, 3 spearmen, 1 scribe and 1 acolyte.

He also found that the strangely eared humans were called Seirei from Bos they resembled short eared elves from earth folklore

Cliff smiled “Greetings everyone I would be more than glad for you to join me in my mountain. Over the next few days, we will dig you a home in the tunnel. Herbalist and Farmers, I have some beans you could try sprouting before spring comes but other than that we need wood and fur. Tailor process that fur into things we need like blankets and clothes. Spearmen, hunter and Fost you will join Phynn in hunting. Scribe you will be in charge of inventory and improving your class. Acolyte study your class and improve it to help us when needed.”

Upon saying this Cliff also ordered Phynn and the others to begin cutting logs for the homes. Heading to grab the proper tools Cliff began digging and compacting the walls. In between each room he dug tunnels and a firepit, the tunnels were so that he could lay pipes to work as a chimney.

It was during the digging of one of these rooms that Cliff discovered a strange looking stone.

Holding it he saw that there were little glints in it.

Using inspect metal and purity on it he discovered nonferrous-Dolomite (magnesium 40% calcium 20%)

It was shocking to find such valuable resources in a rock, but Cliff held the rock while concentrating on how to extract both without ruining them since he could not smelt it like Iron or copper.

But as he concentrated, he felt a little tug in his stomach before he dropped the rock.

Looking at his hand he saw a white powder on his hand. Using identify he found it was Calcium.

Looking at his status he saw a new Skill popped up called

Beginner extraction level 1 [1/10]- using mana when touching rocks may extract 1 milligram un-smeltable mineral type at a time slowly.

This was going to be a game changer; just imagine all of the experiments he will be able to conduct and he could imagine a nicely stone and mortar road winding around his future mine kingdom.

Gathering the rest of the dolomite, Cliff stored it in one of his store rooms for future use.

Over time the digging of the rooms became tedious and boring. Yes, he got more Dolomite and experience in his mining and tool skills but he could be spending his time in a better manner.

Having this thought he made a mental mark to ask the new members of the mountain if one of them could choose miner for their next class so that he would not be the only one with experience digging.

Eventually he finished all of the rooms after 3 days digging.

He made 11 householes, and made 11 more storage/ crafting rooms.

He hoped that this would give people room to work with and if they wanted more they would have to excavate on their own or barter with him.

It was as he was returning to his smeltery that he found the Female tailor who was Anan.

“Greetings Cliff, I am the tailor and my name is Rein. Seeing your clothes in such a state I made you an apron that you could wear under your fur coat.”

As Cliff took the apron, he could only marvel at the nice sturdy apron that looked like something a smith would wear.

Thanking her he went inside his smeltery and took oof his ragged shirt and wore the apron. He found his arms were colder now but it was bearable.

“Thank you, Rein, this is very nice. Is there a possibility of you making me some pants? Mine are almost non existent.”

Rein nodded in acceptance while blushing since his so-called pants were closer to speedo then real pants.

After using a few skills to make measurement Rein soon left leaving Cliff to experiment.

to start off with the calcium added to copper, he found that the copper began oxidizing quickly lost its worth.

With the Magnesium added to copper it seemed to do nothing, but after cooling the ingot he compared it to his regular copper and found that the magnesium copper could withstand more blow before bending then regular copper.

It was when he threw some magnesium with some smelted Iron that things changed.

By doing this he raised a 50% ingot up to 75%.

This was quite impressive. Cliff kind of wished he paid more attention to Chemistry class now. But even then, the class wouldn’t have taught metallurgy.

Creating more 75% iron, he then went about pouring a mold for an anvil.

As it sat cooling in the mold, he then went in search of a stump to place it on.

With both tasks done, he heated up some of the poorer copper and began banging the ingot into shape until he had four buckets.

Using a chisel to punch holes he then made wire handles.

After He spent the next 3 hours extracting just magnesium from the Dolomite into his new buckets.

Setting the now filled buckets aside for tomorrow, Cliff went off to have dinner and sleep.

It was as he was going into his abode that a strong force ran into him and Shoved him against the wall

Straining his neck, he saw a Seirei who introduced himself as a Spearman.

The Seirei Hissed “where did you get the holy ore! You savage!”

Trying to push the Seirei off of him, Cliff struggled bit. This made him think that the spearman class probably offered better strength per level or maybe the Seirei was onto his second class?

Throwing a leg back catching the Seirei in his knee allowed Cliff to move out of the hold and face his assailant.

Trailing his hand down to his waist where he kept his hammer, Cliff prepared for combat.

“What do you mean holy ore? Also, I am not the savage! You were the one that ambushed me you shit head!!”

“That Holy ore is only meant for the blessed of Gana to use! Hand it all over or die!!!” shouted the Seirei

Based off of the words Cliff could assume that Gana was a god from Bos and this metal was some holy relic. Only question which one.

Slowly while thinking Cliff stepped backwards to the entrance of the tunnel

“What is the holy ore?”

“don’t take me as a fool! It’s the Gant!”

It was as his back hit the open air that Cliff ran hoping for some help.

It was as he exited the mountain fully that he was almost Shanked by another Seirei with a knife. Dodging to the side he still received a small cut on his flank.

Looking around himself, he found the remaining Seirei surrounding him along with the first Spearman. Out of the other 3, 2 were also spearmen while the last one was a hunter.

Shouting for help he saw no signs of the Anan or even Phynn.

Breathing deeply Cliff clenched the hammer and charged first at the hunter with a knife.

Swinging the bronze hammer the hunting Seirei received a broken nose but was still in the fight. But before Cliff could finish him #1 spearman tried to impale cliffs calf. But fortunately, the enhanced Constitution stopped the spear half an inch in.

Screaming in pain Cliff broke the spear in half with a swift hammer strike.

Turning to the still armed spearmen but before he could charge 2 stones came flying through the air before knocking them out.

Turning to the origin of the stones Cliff saw Fost and Phynn rushing forward.

Quickly knocking out the unarmed spearman and the hunter with a broken nose.

“Fuck! Where was everyone? Did you plan this?” asked Cliff

Phynn frowned before answering “everyone was off cutting trees; it was when we heard shouting that we noticed all of the Seirei missing. We came as soon as we could.”

As the two spoke, Fost quickly took twine and hogtied each of the Seirei.

“When the first one attacked, they said that I had some sort of holy ore. Do either of you know of such a thing?”

Fost spoke up “on my planet there is a special tree that a species worships. They consider it so holy that if another species is caught with a sapling or branch of that tree they will commit a massacre.”

“Damn, I hate Fanatics. What should we do with these guys?” asked Cliff.

“we should kill them, that is the way of the Gaa” spoke Phynn.

“No! just because I am in a new world does not mean I want to become a murdering savage, lets exile them from the mountain instead.”

“I think that is a bad idea and will come back to haunt us. But you are the leader so I will obey.” Spoke Fost who then with help from the grumbling Phynn untied the Seirei and forced them to leave.

As the 4 Seirei Left, Cliff could not help but feel a knot in his stomach. Was that the best decision? Should he have listened to Phynn?

“Over history everything adapt to survive. If you want to live in this world you will need to adapt also. Please don’t be surprised when they come back with other fanatics.” After stating his Piece Phynn then left for the forest.
