Trouble

Evelyn and Adrith began to make their way through the dungeon, they began to talk about how they would try to get around the Chimera Dragon. The plan boiled down to simply use the Wishing Star to fly away, it will allow them to fly while also attacking the Chimera Dragon to slow it down. The plan was ad hoc, yet their information on what they can do is limited. Both of them had encountered situations like these very differently. Adrith had much more support when he had dealt with Chimera Dragons while Evelyn had spent most of hers only fearing them.

Yet here they are, they both had agreed to now find the Chimera Dragon and attempt…

“Hey, so what happens when we find it and others are fighting it?” Evelyn just realized they had not talked about the different situations they could find themselves in if they were to find it. Now that they were heading directly into the mouth of the beast.

Adrith responded quickly, “We fight with them”

Evelyn nodded, “Okay, I assume it's so we can get some help out”.

Adrith responded, “That would be the hope. After all, we are in quite the predicament”

Evelyn shook her head, “I’d just hate someone seeing us like this”

Adrith chuckled, “This is probably more ordinary than you think”

Evelyn sighed, ”Maybe, but I’m still embarrassed”

The two continued to travel until they found something neither had seen before.

“Is that a hole in the ceiling?” Evelyn made note of in the center of the room a large hole in the ceiling of the dungeon floor.

Adrith looked towards it for a moment before he said, “Let’s investigate”

The duo stopped for a moment and got off of the wishing star as they began to investigate the area. It was completely covered in the thick slimy gunk that they first saw when they entered the floor. Yet now it had such an intense and grotesque smell that it made Evelyn gag, “Gods what is that?!”

Adrith looked around before he looked up at the hole, “The beast must have been here for some time. How a hole was formed I have no clue however it must have been here for some time and the Chimera Dragon used it to sense out for more prey”

Evelyn thought for a moment, “So we should head up it?”

Adrith nodded his head, “Yes, I think that whoever triggered it might have done it on either this floor or the floor above, either way, we will only find them trying to move higher up.”

The two climbed onto the Wishing Star and began to fly up through the hole and began to move through this floor quickly, they wished to find where the Chimera Dragon was as quickly as possible. They scoured the floor and only found monsters they were used to, different forms of shadow monsters that take on many different forms, yet there was something Evelyn was worried about, they began to find more and more of those green psychically powerful monsters around. She named them Psyche Gausts. Albeit a strange name, Adrith minded it none.

Psyche Gausts were a dangerous foe, yet as long as they stayed perceptive and made sure to attack hard and fast, they could kill them with ease. Which gave Evelyn some ease of mind, something that once terrorized her was able to be defeated, by her hand.

After searching the floor for a while, they found that the Chimera Dragon was not there and that they needed to climb higher. They began to climb higher and higher, finding that they did not only travel up multiple floors, but every now and again they found Monster Cores being left. Soon enough they start to find random pieces of gear. Shoulder armor, gloves, helms, boots, and even bags and sleeping packs. Evelyn and Adrith looked at each other for a moment before they started collecting everything they came across. They often tried to find anything that would fit them. Any boots that could fit were taken, any pants that had a belt were more than enough, gloves a little too big, and shirts a little too small. Anything.

The tale has been taken without authorization; if you see it on Amazon, report the incident.

Evelyn was the first to find a good outfit, she was able to slip into a few pairs of pants, the shirts were a little too small yet they worked. She could only find boots a little too big for her, however they fit enough. Adrith on the other hand found his size quite hard to find. He wasn’t massive in the height department, just being slightly taller than most men. His main issue is that he has quite a wide frame. Shirts never sat right, pants were very tight, he could at least find some gauntlets, and a good helm that fit well, but most importantly was that he found a pair of boots that fit very nicely. Of the weapons they found, there were only side arms at best, yet it gave something for Evelyn to use when monsters got close.

As they scavenged, they began to see more unsettling things. They began to see discolored greyish human limbs with items on them. Sometimes they saw many different things, yet one thing was strange, every now and again they thought they saw a limb move. Evelyn was startled yet wanted to investigate it. The moment she stepped off of the wishing star she saw the hand that was holding a sword shift and move at her.

She jumped back and yelled, “WAIT WHAT?!”

The hand then began to shift and change shape. The hand became like goo as it melted away into a puddle and the arm began to snake and change form. Evelyn then realized what it was, as she aimed her wand at it and yelled, “Bolt!”

She fired a single bolt of golden silver energy that exploded and destroyed the monstrous goo in a single shot. “That was one of those Mimics!”

Adrith nodded his head, “Seems we’re going the right way then. They've been fighting it for a while it seems, fighting and retreating”

Evelyn took the moment to calm herself, “Yeah. Well, it is great to see that the monster can break itself back down into more”

Adrith nodded his head, “Well, either way, we should be prepared”

Evelyn climbed back onto the Wishing Star as they began to travel. It took no more than a few minutes for them to begin to hear the sounds of monstrous roars that echoed off of the cavernous walls with terrible shrieks and explosions occurring.

They flew quickly as they found the fighting had traveled up to the next floor. The duo flew up to the next area quickly, seeing as they traveled up the stairs they began to see more and more of the gray limbs and flesh on the ground. Most often they had no more than what would be considered a trinket, yet now and again some items caught Evelyn’s eyes, yet she couldn’t stop, they needed to be ready for anything.

The moment they reached the top of the stairs, they could see the massive Chimera Dragon covering the entrance to the next floor with its body as they could hear yells and roars from the other side.

Adrith and Evelyn looked at each other as Evelyn said, “We need to get through! I’ll be using magic, you be ready for anything to come”

Adrith nodded his head as he began to prepare himself for a fight.

Evelyn took in a breath as she took hold of her wand and prepared a monster crystal in preparation of her spell. Her eyes became transfixed on the monster as she began her chant.

“Hear me, oh morning star, give onto me your warm glow, answer me”

“Hear my request, blast through the darkness and bring about the dawn, answer my wish, Blast!”

As Evelyn chanted, on the tip of her wand a small crimson-red orb formed. It constantly fluxed and shifted as the color often changed from a light red to a dark red, having undertones of silver or gold, and sometimes it turned white. Yet the moment her spell was ready, Evelyn drew in the energy of the Monster core and began to feel her energy swell, and she saw her spell shift and change. It grew larger and almost uncontrolled, the color turned dark red and even black. The moment she attacked with her spell, the entire orb condensed into a pure white orb and let off a terrible shrieking explosion which fired directly into the Chimera Dragon’s back and blew up with such force that it nearly knocked both Adrith and Evelyn off the Wishing Star.

Yet the moment Evelyn could see, she saw that the Chimera Dragon’s body seemed not to even care. She gritted her teeth until she saw she had blasted a hole in the wall it was covering. Evelyn instantly took this moment to have the Wishing Star fly through the hole. The moment they made it through, they could see the true pitched battle that the Chimera Dragon was having with 6 injured people.

All of which regarded them with a face of confusion and distress.
