Adrith nodded his head as he reconfirmed, “They were potions for allowing one to be able to see through the abilities of a shapeshifter. Multiple creatures within the dungeon and around are able to take on the form of other creatures and make themselves camouflaged”.
Adrith began to look among each of them as he realized that neither of them knew such a thing would have needed to be dealt with. Adrith nodded as he allowed for either Lord Michael or the Advisor to speak. Yet a long-lasting and nearly deafening silence followed as it was Lord Michale to speak, “Were these needed for within the city?”
It was a question that held enough weight to crush the room, as with a single wrong word or action, the entire room would be gone. Adrith could see it in the eyes of Lord Michael, there would be more than just this room gone, the entire city could be. Adrith could see it in the eyes of Lord Michael, he would make sure that everything was clean of such a terrible thing. He didn’t allow any emotion to exist on his face as Adrith responded, “No my lord. These were for when we were to enter the dungeon. As when we made our way deeper we found that they became more useful against the monsters there during our time. Such as many types of creatures that would take on the forms of chests, tools, items, and even that of the walls and floors”.
Lord Michael began to look at Adrith with incredulous eyes, it was then that Adrith saw them glow. It took a few moments before Lord Michael’s face seemed to loosen and he looked to the Advisor, “Is there anything else in the book about transactions done between the Crimson Flower and the Manor?”
The Advisor began to look through the records and began to see that there were multiple different transactions between the estate and the alchemy shop. The Advisor nodded as he then began to say, “Yes there seemed to be quite a few, many of which seemed to have been carried out by multiple different people. Yet there seem to be well-kept records of them, and one of them being a man named Adrith Catulus. It does mean he exists, however, finding him seems to be quite the task in it of itself”
Lord Michael nodded as he turned to Adrith, “Would there be anything else that could denote who you are? Maybe something you owed to the city?”
Adrith took a moment as he understood what was being asked, “While there is nothing that I owe, I do remember that I am owed by the estate. Quite a few people I think would be actually”.
Lord Michael looked to the Advisor for a moment as he then said, “I believe if there is something owed it should be quite easy to find it no?”
The Advisor nodded as he placed down the book he was holding and prepared to grab another one from beneath himself, “May I ask what is owed?”
Adrith nodded as he said, “I was owed a title and land. As was all knight of the time when were answered the Lord’s call of the time”.
The Advisor stopped as he looked to Lord Michael. His face was stunned as he looked to the Lord, Lord Michael gave no response or answer, just a cold stare that told him to look. The Advisor rose from his chair as he began to look through the books. Checking for any records of owed property, any order or decree that would speak of such thing. It took nearly another hour of searching until it was found in a nearly completely burnt tome that was just legible enough to read. The Lord then commanded, “Read it aloud”
The Advisor gulped as he read, “This decree was made by the Lord of the time, Celestri Dorsainvil: All who wish to dedicate themselves to this great endeavor of ridding this world of the evil that has plauged our lands, hear me. We shall sit idly no longer! All able bodied men and women, Lord Celestri Dorsainvil has called for a-!”
The narrative has been taken without authorization; if you see it on Amazon, report the incident.
Lord Michael interjected as he demanded, “What of the promises?”
The Advisor flipped through the pades as he then began to read through the countless things offered, “There was offers of riches, status, land, and much more. There seems to be another book that would have the dues from this specific decree. However, it seems he is telling the truth about the owed land and title”.
The search continued as it was not until another hour passed and multiple other scribes were sent into the library that they found the specific tome. It was one that much like the other was scarred by fire. As when the book was opened, Adrith saw magic being used by the Advisor to read it. The pages were so destroyed that there was nothing to gleam from it, the Advisor’s magic created large sheets of golden light that had words that flew across the pages as he read, “There seem to be quite a few names, however, it seems they are all intact and untampered with through magic. It will take me a few moments my lord”.
Lord Michael waited as he looked at the magic, his eyes seemed to glow as after a few moments they came back to Adrith. After a few moments longer the Advisor finally spoke, “Adrith Catulus. You joined under the promises of 3 things, titles of land ownership, a piece of land within the outer walls, and 10 Chimera Dragon Cores?!”
Lord Michael looked to the Advisor as he asked, “Is that all?”
The Advisor nodded his head, “Yes my Lord, however that sounds ridiculous in terms of payment”
Lord Michael turned to Adrith, “Is this what you signed?”
Adrith nodded his head, “I believe that is the amount my lord”.
Lord Michael then said, “Can this be then traced to an account that is owed this?”
The Advisor nodded somewhat unassuredly, “I believe it can my Lord”.
It took no more than 10 minutes as the Advisor used multiple magics to trace the records that were written by the same scribe. As the book that once held Adrith’s name countless time now showed a single name that was glowing, “Seems we now have your name and a balance for you”
The Advisor read as his jaw dropped, originally he thought there would have been a large debt to be paid. As much of the time would be expected, yet there was something worrisome, his account open, and there had been a note with it, an exemption of taxes. The Advisor then noticed the same thing over and over again. For multiple different names within the tome, there seemed to be ones that have been exempt from taxes. Much of which was the sole reason why people were made to pay for their accounts being open.
It did not take long for Lord Michael to notice the Advisor was stunned as he ordered, “Read it”.
The Advisor spoke, “Under the authority of Lord Celestri Dorsainvil, he it to be exempt of taxation”.
Lord Michael then nodded, “That settles it then. He is to be given what he is owed, and his account is to be maintained”.
The Advisor almost spoke, yet was stopped as Lord Michael looked to him. His gaze punched a hole through the man’s head, the Advisor stayed quiet as he gave a simple, “It shall be done my lord”.
Lord Michael turned to Adrith as he gave him a single nod, “You shall be given your lands, rights, titles, and owed compensation in time. For now, you shall be given lodging near the outer walls and will be found when it is time”.
Adrith gave a single light bow as he was escorted out. The air was tense as the guards who escorted him looked at him with more anger and contempt than what he had experienced in his entire life. Yet there were some good feelings, Adrith did not need to pay the debt of 300 years. Which gave him some benefit, however, he wondered where Evelyn was. She might have been sent out to the dungeon to try and repay her debt, but he wasn’t sure.
When Adrith was given his lodgings, he was watched with some concern, many of the people within the area were worried of a man who came with a guard entourage. However, just as the saying goes, your coin is good anywhere as long as it’s gold. Adrith began to rest for the night as when he entered his room, he found there was a note on his desk and had a small gold coin on it.
All he could do was think that it must have been Connor and his crew, as they would be the only people to contact him. Adrith took up the note and coin as he headed out, he wanted to know what they wanted, and to get his things back.
