The room went silent as the various attendees shared uncertain looks. The first one to break this silence was Kane, the biker fellow with the mohawk when he cricked his neck and sneered:
"Spit it out, dude, ain't no one gonna act like a hero now."
Damon smiled slightly. "Basically, we need to make this as logical as possible. We will select one of us to become the Prime Representative, and have that person write an absolute law that no human is allowed to enslave themselves to another for any reason."
"Before that, our future Prime Representative-to be will approach Overseer Ambrose and promise him that their first act will be to officiate us wishing to become the Vampires' vassals."
"As long as the person is convincing enough, the Overseer should think everything is in the bag, which will hopefully make him lower his guard on the day of election, allowing our representative to write in what we really want."
"Doing that will buy humanity time to grow, at least for the first 20 years of grace period granted to us. What comes after can only be speculated." Damon concluded.
Kane was speechless. "Bruv, did you smoke that cheap herb before calling us over? That's the lamest shit I've heard all week!"
Damon's smile twitched as the edges curled into a frown. Nevertheless, as someone who had done extensive training to maintain a fake smile for the cameras he was able to keep up a pleasant expression.
Felicia though, was very straightforward. "Do you have a better idea?"
Kane shrugged. "Nope, but I also ain't the one calling people over to a super secret meeting only to spew childish plans that no adult would fall for."
Felicia sighed. "I expected there to be confusion among you once the plan was revealed, but I didn't expect that simplifying it to this extent would have the opposite effect."
The young woman rubbed her brows to seemingly calm her nerves, then spoke to the group as if she was lecturing a bunch of retarded children.
"The plan relies on us being able to play to the ego of the other side and swerve them at the last possible moment. It is nowhere as easy or simple as Damon made it sound. There are many dangers associated with the entire plan that only someone truly competent can pull off."
"Firstly, the choice for our Prime Representative has to make logical sense. Let me be blunt here, the only reasonable choices among us are Xela, myself, or Damon, because we're the ones who received EX-Grade Abilities. Most sentient species would naturally flock to those with the highest power or talent, so presenting Ambrose with anyone else, would just make him suspicious."
"Secondly, the chosen Prime Representative between us has to be able to control their thoughts, expressions and words carefully. If Ambrose has the power to read minds, then things are upped in difficulty. You got one thing right, Kane, it sounds fanciful to just make a simple promise and expect him to wholeheartedly believe us. Hence, the 'acting' of the chosen party has to be superb."
"Thirdly, the voting must be dynamic and natural. It cannot appear that we have anything nefarious planned at all, because if Ambrose as the Overseer gets slightly vigilant or clever, there is a real risk that he might sniff it out."
"The reason we called you here is that there is no way for the others to meet and plot. Without Jose's help, Ambrose can see and hear everything. For this reason, we'll let the others go in blind into the voting. The most important part will be that you, the select few with the best Abilities will proclaim your support for one of us, making the crowd follow you."
"Fourthly, when signing the 'vassal agreement', which might as well be called a 'slave agreement', the Prime Representative is going to have to make it look like he's doing the actual thing, while actually writing and signing something else entirely. Assuming Ambrose is breathing down your neck, you would definitely want to make sure your acting skills are above and beyond the par."

"Fifthly, when Ambrose finally realizes he's been duped, someone is going to die. He will be enraged at the deception, especially at the hands of us, someone he doesn't take seriously, and although I've read that the Universe Will would directly descend to protect us, there will likely be a delay."
"Ambrose's Mobility stats are very likely far beyond our knowledge, but even if he has only a single point, as long as he is as fast as the Vampires portrayed in our works of fiction, he could rip anyone's throat out before any of us could put up any reasonable defense."
"Finally, using yourselves as an example, let's be real, Humans are very fickle and not very grateful. We'll have to find a way to broadcast our success and the repercussions of not following the established law to all of humanity. Then we'll let human greed take over and make sure people don't allow themselves to be used."
Felecia stopped at this point and passed a hand through her lush and messy hair, highlighting her beauty, which most tended to ignore due to her weird fashion sense.
"And in lieu of that, can you think of a better person than a sleazy politician who can lie between his teeth, who is knowledgeable enough in matter of laws to pen everything down legally, not to mention the only one with an Ability to duplicate himself to avoid getting truly killed in the aftermath?" She pointed out, gesturing towards Damon whose fake smile turned into a real one.
Kane remained silent for a while before shaking his head. "So we're doing this to become heroes or what? I'm not against saving the world, that's fuckin' metal. But why though?"
Kyle Greer spoke in a soft tone. "Because if we don't, we're all doomed."
Connor Baines, who had been leaning against the wall, spoke up casually. "Imagine, if you will, a world where everyone was treated as a serf by the bigger fellows in the universe because of our Abilities. That will bite us in the ass later."
Henry Jasek rubbed his chin. "It can't be that bad, can it?"
Damon coughed and leaned forward. "Brother Henry, you're American, right?"
Henry frowned but nodded. "That's right, but what's that got to do with anything?"
"Perhaps my knowledge is outdated, but I believe you guys beat yourself up about being the cause for slavery and stuff like that, right?" Damon continued.
Henry shared a look with the other Americans and nodded. "We do believe we've made a grave slight and acknowledge it."
Damon shook his hands. "Don't worry, I'm not here to heap curses on you like others. I want to point out something crucial, something everyone seems to forget."
"Did you know that in Africa, especially where I come from, we don't even mention Americans? We don't factor you into our history, not as the 'main antagonists' like some of you portray yourself to be?" Damon began with a strange smile.
"When I was learning about the slave trade and my country's history in it back in primary 6 - what you call grade 6 - the ones we cursed at the most were our own ancestors. Do you know why?"
"Because the first visitors, the Portuguese, did not come and decide to capture people. Rather, they had come looking forward to trading with this new race they had met, learning their culture and making a profit."
"However, slavery had been a normal practice for Africans, and we had done it to our own people for centuries as part of our culture. So when the Portuguese took out their alcohol, mirrors, gunpowder which had been their usual trading fare, in exchange they had received gold, rare goods... and live humans."
Damon chuckled. "Sometimes, I wish I could go back in time to when the first exchange had happened, just to take a look at the expressions of the Portuguese traders. They must have been utterly confused."
"But jokes aside, the barter trade had been completely skewed because we had given up labor, wealth, and valuables for trinkets and toys. However, that wasn't the real problem. Sure, it was an objectively unfair trade for my ancestors, but I wholeheartedly believe that both sides had gone to sleep while thinking they had made a profit at the end of that day."
"No, the problem was the image that this would create, the precedent that it had set and the idea it had given birth to." Damon pointed out as he placed his hands on his thighs.
" 'The African man is a slave!' This idea became rooted in the minds of the foreign traders, but not the first generation, no, It was the second generation onward who had grown up with that viewpoint."
"After all, they had grown up seeing all those people of color work in their backyards and on the farms, never in their prime, in their homes, or when they acted in their culture. So how could they view them as anything else?"
"Now this wouldn't have become a problem if things had stopped there, and if the new generation hadn't had the stronger military and economic power than the natives, but the world is not so fair."
"So following the first generation who had 'honestly' traded for gold, slaves, and whatnot, had come the second generation who had seen no reason why they had to be nice or give any money to a walking race of slaves."
"And so began the part of history you often hear about, when foreigners started capturing innocents off the coast, abducting them from their villages to go back and sell them in their home country. This would never have happened if our people didn't sell themselves for meager profits, if any at all."
