We got back to the car and got to the same turn off as last time, and there were twice as many people here this time.
Clearly they saw us arrive and had gotten backup since last time, we got away.
My mom pulls up to the turn, were a guy has a cheapy looking shotgun pointed at to the car door and is yelling to open the door.
Mom stalls the man not knowing anything else to do, until the road opens up in front of us.
The guy with the gun begins to start shooting at the door, causing everyone else there to start shooting as well.
The driver side window is all but completely shattered and had a large hole in it.
Thankfully I didn't see any blood, but every window in the car was not broken, clearly having been reinforced, it didn't completely shatter.
Only now noticing that the car must have armor all over it as well, because I was hearing shots ping off the back part of the car where they were shooting at the tires.
We finally get back to the house, although the drive is always short, its always hectic and its getting worse.
I think I will do my damndest to stop needing to go to the doctors for a while.
We both get out of the car and I can see so many dents and divots in the car from the many bullets.
I look over to see what mom thinks and she is already walking into the house. As we get into the house my mom enters dads study and almost completely shuts the door but doesn't
As I am passing, I see that mom was wearing a bullet proof vest, and thats why she was wearing that big jacket.
Mom calls dad to tell him over everything that happened, and I just sat their with my mom, hugging her, but not to tight, as she said she was a little sore.
It only took dad another 10 minutes to get back to the house, clearly leaving work early today.
With him now home, mom tells me to go study for a bit.
I leave the room, and just as I am entering my room, I hear my mother crying, hard.
Setting there on my bed reviewing what had happened, I am just glad my mom was parinoid enough to wear the vest today.
Without it, I don't even want to think about what might have happened.
Suddenly I realized that I was still recording, so I hit the button to stop it.
I know the doctor said that this is a simple device so it wouldn't have much storage on it, but that recording was an hour long, and wasn't even 1% of the total space.
So there would be no need to clear out old recordings for some time at least.
Now seeing the other section to the Recording device, where it allows memory playback, but at a much lower resolution, I click on it to compare the quality of the recorded even, to the memory when I freeze.
The story has been stolen; if detected on Amazon, report the violation.
There, laid out in front of my isn't just 6 years of memories, its 39 years of memories.
Scrolling the memory line, I take it back to December of 2020, the Release of Cyberpunk 2077, The memory starts out with me opening the box, and pulling out the game.
I had purchased it online, and had it scheduled to have it delivered on release.
I remember the memory pretty well, as I loved the launch of the game, even if it was riddled with bugs.
But the memory itself was like watching a low contrast. cam recording of a 480p video.
But I was able to make out a lot of it, this would help a lot in the future.
Right now the memories of my previous life, weren't of much use, I would have to wait some years to get any real use out of time.
Currently I was still living in the unknown, so I will just continue as I have been.
Back to reality I was now much more focused on becoming stronger, so I started working on my hacking again.
It wasn't long before dinner was ready, it was a quiet night at the table.
Normally we would talk about at least some things, like dad would always talk about him favorite WarriorMan contestant, either making it on the track or how he had messed up that day.
And even mom would like to describe things she had watched, apparently she liked documentaries and from one of them she had learned about a bunch of animals that no long exist, due to extinction unfortunately for most of them.
But nothing was really said at the table today, I had tried to start some kinda of conversation asking when the last pieces to my new computer might be in, but nothing beyond just "Oh, it should take to much longer" or dad's dad phrase "It will get here when it gets here"
After tossing and turning that night I was finally able to get to sleep.
When I woke up, Norm was already at the house, as he had taken a job around the community and was just stopping in to see me.
Since he knew me and him were the only ones that would be awake at this time on a day off.
"Hey Jase, your mom told me you burned out a eye coding? How bad do you have to be to do that?" He began to laugh at my expense
I really wish I had found a way to sudue that Lights out daemon and saved it.
I would have had to rewrite most of it, because I most certainly would not want it to attack me again, and I would want to make a Temporary one as well. Maybe something along the lines of just doing a manual reset to the connections to the eyes, to use it as a prank for instances like this.
"Just you wait, next term, coding 101, I am going to ace it and you will come crawling to me to help you. Maybe you should workout your brain some, they do say the brain is a muscle after all" I chuckled at that as I went past him to the fridge.
This world may have horribly bitter coffee that wouldn't be allowed to have the name of coffee in my old world. Just about every other beverage in this world can be caffeinated.
And my go to, is a little weird mind you, but any Breakfast drink. From Milk and chocolate mild, to Juice, or even just water.
But I favorite currently is orange juice, get a bottle of OJ, and go over to the cabinet and open it up to the small container with the powder. Just a pinch of powder, and boom. Instant caffeinated OJ.
After taking some swigs, I plop down next to norm to just watch some tv and wake up some.
Me and norm ended up setting there for a while, a few shows came on and went off in this time.
We finally got up and went about the day, as we had some topics to study a little bit before being able to play today.
With Norm, sure he was smart, but he had some troubles remembering things. So it was more of me studying until I am done, and then helping him with his subjects.
Currently most of the material is things that I have already known as we were just starting school.
But with technology being advanced as it is, clearly they wanted to set the precedent for teaching more advanced things earlier in life.
So with math in particular, I was almost nearly to the end of what I had learned previously already, as the coding class actually required it to be admitted.
I was technically 1 term ahead, as normally a student would take 2 terms to learn the math if they are gift, or 3 if they were learning it at a normal pace.
But with this, my coding was progressing steadily but should take off much faster once I actually start class for coding.
Other then my coding getting only better from me being able to tell from my previous coding, then I would really have no proof of my progress.
All of my skills haven't moved a bit or showed any sign that I have gained experience or anything like that, so I don't know what this system is, but it isn't actually the most useful.
Still being able to visualize my progress as a number will help in the long run, at least I hope so.
