As I walked near the music it was becoming me clear it was coming from a building or something.
"Where you think you are going kid, this ain't the sort of place where you can go. You even know what this place is?"
"No actually I don't, I am actually blind currently. Had a friend drop me off here saying this is a safe place."
"yea, its a safe place, but I don't know if it is for a friend of the Maelstrom. But you are pretty young, so we can house you for a few nights, at least get you some help, got any cred to toss toward new eyes or a fix?"
Larz was maelstrom, ahaha, wouldn't have guessed, but it looked weird a guy like him dropping me off.
"yea I worked for the guy who dropped me off but he said it was dangerous there so he drove me here so I couldn't go back."
"Damn, thats a sad one! Ok, go on in and ask the bartender for booth 2, thats my booth. Don't get the wrong idea, you ain't getting a view, just a place to wait while I work for a bit."
"I don't exactly know the area, so if someone could lead me, that would help alot. Also, where am I?"
"I ....... Sorry, I forgot you couldn't see. I don't know if anyone told you but they look kinda cool right now. Blacked out eye with a silver ring in them. And let me lead you, you are at the home of the Mox, new formed gang from the middle of last year. And this is Lizzi's Bar."
Slightly stunned at this, I realized that a bit more time has passed than I had thought, I must have lost track of time living like that.
No wondering I asked "What is todays date and year, kinda lost track of time."
"Ahh, yea easy to do when you can't just check. Today is actually February 5th of 2068."
I will be 9 in a few months, I though to myself with a little shock.
I hadn't planned to try and save Elizabeth Borden, but the sheer fact it happened a little over half a year ago was strangely ominous.
But if I would have found a way to save her, then the Mox likely wouldn't have existed, so who knows if it is better this way.
At least I know where all the big hitters would be in the future.
We arrived at the booth and I slumpted down onto the very soft sofa.
"Ok kid stay here, I will be back at my lunch to see if you need anything! Names Rita, by the way."
The story has been taken without consent; if you see it on Amazon, report the incident.
"I am sorry I didn't ask, I was just kinda dumped at a new spot and was a little overwhelmed, Its nice to meet you Rita, my name is Jason."
Sticking to the as polite as her in this case, not stating my last name since she didn't state hers, even though I knew it was Wheeler, if I remember right.
"Ok jason be good, and don't go through to much of my stuff before I get back." She said as I heard he walk away and the door close behind her.
I laughed at that, she essentially gave me permission to go through some of he stuff, just not all of it.
I felt my way around the room finding the a radio and deciding to not turn it on just yet.
I kept going across the room and made it to a shelf, when I felt was on the shelf I was stuck for a moment.
On this shelf were the little figures that rita liked to make, they weren't the best from what I could tell by feeling them, but I could easily tell what they were meant to be.
It was my bad luck that at this point Rita returned back through the door and entered, but stopped walking a few feet into the door.
"They are beautiful from what I can tell at least. Although I don't know alot about art."
"I don't know how you could tell that, but thank you."
"I can't see but if I feel something, its like I can picture it in my mind. Now, do you mind if I see how beautiful you are?" I said with a slight hint of sarcasm, and wiggled the fingers on my left hand at her.
"BWahahah, thats not a bad line, but nah. A little to young for me kind. I brought some food because I am actually on duty until tomorrow. So I won't see you again until them unfortunately." She said while moving further into the room and setting a bag on the table in front of the couch.
"Its just some simple Stir fry someone had picked up, and the drink is just bottle of Cirrus Cola blood breeze its got kinda like a candy taste to it so you should like it. Make sure to get some sleep and tomorrow we will look into getting you to a ripper to get you looked at."
"Awesome, thanks again rita."
"Don't thank me yet, its not much and the food and drink might not be to your taste ahah. Well see you tomorrow kid."
She then exited the room and closed the door.
Honestly I wasn't that hungry but I was kinda tired so I made my way back to the radio, turned it on for background noise, and then to the sofa to eat.
It was good, just like the stuff Larz would get from time to time, and the drink reminded me of code red from my previous life. So I ended up liking it as well.
After eating and drinking I was nicely full and could easily lean back and relax feeling like I could fall asleep pretty quick.
Who knows what all the future holds for now, I will need to start working on everything again.
I lost some time without my eyes and honestly I don't know if I will ever truly be ready.
That skinny man in my house was likely the easiest person I would have faced and he easily overpowered me and captured me.
I had failed to take him down and had lost everything. I was teary eyed at this, realizing just how lost I was.
My family, my friends, and my eyes, two could be replaced with time, the first one though.
I laid and cried for a bit at my family, my mom and dad I hadn't had enough time with, eventually I would need to confirm if they were alive or not.
But the fact that the skinny scav man was so sure that my parents wouldn't miss the house had me worried.
I was thinking of the future and what the first concerns would be when I felt my eyelids become heavy.
As I was drifting off, I hear on the radio of a massive fire in Australia that ended up killing almost every koala with the exception of one, the lone survivor they have name Omega.
I drifted off into a deep sleep from the tiredness I had accumulated over the past months.
