At the glow of her golden eyes, dozens earthen spires surrounded us and the ground instantly turned into mud.
“Sir Renè! Sit ventis veni ad caput meum!”
Thane called to the captain and instantly hardened the ground while he cut the spires with blades of wind.
“Mynah!”
As the captain called my name, I surrounded the young girl with my clones and climbed a tree to hide and oversee the fight.
The leader and the rest fired magic attacks one after another while my clones delivered melee to the lone girl.
As unfair as it may be, the young girl’s hand glowed in a rosy color while she dodged and a thin rosy layer protected her from all the oncoming attacks. Leaving her unscathed with a working barrier.
“Was that a barrier?!”
After seeing the girl with an intact barrier, the girl smiled maliciously. A smile so different from the innocent charming face she put on earlier.
Being deceived so easily...! I would’ve thought that I could at least distinguish lies from truth!
I held tightly onto a branch with my face writhing in frustration and fatigue.
The battle continued with the girl just standing covered in her rosy barrier. Each hit was easily deflected by rosy petals from the barrier.
“Is that all?”
While fatigue crept up from the initial battle, from the hours of search and from this confrontation, the four of us were completely out of breath as our mana drains together with our stamina.
“Hmph. I thought you were much stronger but I guess Andi just got lazy and didn’t get enough rest.”
She scoffed at our struggle. I gripped the branch I was holding even tighter.
I wish I could fight. I wish I could cut that stupid smile from her face but if something happens...
“You know, I almost died protecting my brother so you should know how much I f*cking hate you guys right now.”
As if a chair was behind her, she sat with a soft plop and crossed her legs while hatred was plastered on her adorable little face.
The twisted expression she bore didn’t suit how adorable she looked. The gap in between showed how ridiculous the situation was.

Lord Ferrum ordered us to watch over one of the spearheads of the Regent’s faction but a young man, seemingly a member of the Cuppra nobility assassinated him and another child with rosy hair and golden eyes, a perfect yet unnatural characteristics of a Ferrum noble came to take revenge for her “twin”.
The whole thing was simple yet ridiculous.
Who ordered the assassination? Who are these twins that bore unnatural magic from their supposed affinities?
As I run my thoughts with speculations of who they were, the girl spouted insults as she continued deliver attacks to my clone. Each attack looked like falling flickering rose petals that suddenly moves faster and way sharper than Thane’s wind blades.
After cutting down half of my clones, she immediately vanished and a cut appeared behind Becca.
“Ackk...!”
“Becca!”
Holding onto her fresh wound, Thane ran towards her only to get cut on his thigh.
“...dammit!”
Back from her original place, the girl flicked the blood away from a bare blade glowing in the same color as her barrier. In mere moments, she mowed down my dozens of clones and immobilized the other two.
Leader ran to them while I ordered my clones to form a defensive line against her.
“I came back from hell several times...”
As she said so, several petals cut through a couple of my clones.
“... and finally found...”
Like throwing knives, petals flew at each swipe of her hand.
“... the family I wished for. I finally let go of that hatred...!”
Bursts of petals flew and the last of my clones vanished in vain, unable to dodge the flickering petals. As she did so, her hatred turned into madness.
“Ahahahahaha!!!”
She laughed as she saw despair from my comrades. She laughed as she tore down my clones, one by one.
Soon, the other three was left bare of any defense, the captain then summoned walls of earth but due to the lack of mana, he was only able to make a couple of layers with gaps.
Looking like a set of round maze, a wall exploded when a petal touched one. Some were cut into two, some crumbled into dust and some melted into mud.
The flickering petal was so versatile, it could slice, disintegrate, melt and explode upon contact.
Who is she?! To be able to use such magic?!
From atop the tree, I could see my comrades degrade from fatigue, the deep cut that they received from such a tiny girl slowly ate up their stamina.
I was stuck.
My comrades, my friends, the ones who brought down the high and mighty me from the gaggle of geese that’s called nobility.
Do I leave them as ordered? Or do I disobey?
Before she could throw another set of petals, I made my decision.
I held my dagger tight and jumped down from the tree I hid in. But before I could reach the ground, in just mere seconds, my arm was pulled and I was tightly restrained.
In confusion, I looked back and saw the impossible.
Jet black hair.
In the bright moonlight, as dark as night. The color of miasma was sitting flowingly atop a man’s head not younger than me.
A mythical color that only the Evil God and her favored beings bore.
“Can’t let you ruin my sister’s fun now, can I?”
Holding my hands tightly behind my back, he dragged me out of the darkness of the trees and entered the one-sided battlefield that unfolded.
“Nadi, enough.”
As he said so, the tough roots of a nearby tree wrapped around me, binding me in place, unable to move.
“But big bro...”
The twisted expression she bore turned sweet as she called to her so called “big brother”. With a rough pat on her head, she smiled in delight but pouted in concern for her hair.
In a snap, the fear inducing laugh of this adorable mad girl vanished and the innocent charming expression was now plastered sweetly, like a blooming flower in spring.
The twins were already an anomaly, then what of that guy?
