A mundane task. Our directive from Lord Yasmin was to monitor Viscount Marshal Evaris from Evaris Trading. I, Becca Stranz, a knight of the kingdom be used to do this boorish job. And yes, it was supposed to be a mundane task, yet...
“Becca, stay here. I’ll report to his excellency.”
Leaving me with an ongoing massacre, my partner, Thane, left to report to Lord Yasmin. The whole estate we were monitoring is in uproar because of an attack from a lone figure.
“Why me?”
My complaints where dragged away by the clattering weapons of the guards. Evaris’ guards gathered and the whole fighting force reached up to almost a thousand.
“Where did they come from?! How can Evaris afford so much guards?!”
Reports have stated that he’s amassing a large force, but nothing said about the exact number and the reason why. I’ve been a Knight of Light for 12 years, but I never would’ve known what to do in this situation.
Who’s attacking Evaris?
While I ask that question, I saw Evaris run to his study from outside the window. With a frantic scream and a pained gasp, he pushed his bookshelves, tables, chairs, anything he could move to block the door. From the tree where I was, I saw a figure walk from the other side of the blocked door, decapitating and killing all those who tried to block his way.
“FUCK! FUCK! FUCK! NO!”
Evaris cursed himself into exhaustion. Every piece of furniture inside his study was used to block the door. I hid myself deeper in the dark to monitor him without being seen. Soon, the door blocked with all the heavy furniture started to shake at beat.
“NO! FUCK! PLEASE! NO!”
Evaris took a sword hanging on the wall while the door continued to beat. The rhythm was magnificent, the tumbling sound of his doom resonated deeply to his heart, making him tremble with each passing beat.
Don, da-don! The sound repeated rhythmically without delay. It continued and from the other side, his pursuer was punching and kicking the door. Making the rhythmic sound vary from each hit.

Evaris was frantic. I, myself was trembling in anticipation. The excitement from the beat and the suspense what happens next.
“Becca!”
Thane’s voice called me, only then I realized how scared I was at the sight of the intruder and how he played with Evaris. As soon as reinforcement arrived, screams from the soldiers, followed by roars of varied monsters resounded inside the estate. Each drooled at the sight of food running in fear.
“Why are there B and A class monsters in the capital?!”
That voice, it was probably Renè, the vice captain of our order. In his hands was a 3 meter long spear embedded with fire magic.
“Thane and Ennis, stop all the monsters from escaping into the city. Becca you’re with me, let’s deal with the said intruder.”
His orders were swift, as expected of the vice captain. Thane and Ennis left to eliminate any monsters who tried to leave while we entered the mansion with caution.
“Is that him?”
Entering from the door, we saw the figure continuously beating the door. The beat pounded in a continuous rhythm, never straying.
“Oi, I’m coming in, ok? There’re some insects hovering nearby, they’re BUGGING the shit out of me!”
With mere strength, he pushed the heavy doors open, flinging all the furniture that blocked it towards Evaris. It piled on top of him, trapping him under its weight.
“Wh-who are you?! Did that bastard Yasmin sent you?!”
The figure shrugged. From behind, we couldn’t see the interaction between them, but we can perfectly hear their conversation.
By insects, does he mean us?
“Oh, look! I found a sword! Well, I’ll tell you this: I don’t work for that Yasmin guy. I’m from Dragon’s eye.”
Dragon’s eye? The famous assassins league from Eloheim?
Without notice, the figure held the sword Evaris dropped and separated his head from its body. Blood splattered like a fountain, continuously pouring out blood, staining the expensive carpets. The figure jumped back, evading the fountain of blood.
“Hey! You guys over there!”
He turned around and called to us. His face was obscured with the shadow from his hood but his eyes glowed in a magnificent golden light. It was eerily beautiful. As beautiful as the Aureate Prince’s golden eyes.
“How?!”
Renè stated his shock. I mean, why would a noble be here and kill another noble. Evaris was indeed despicable, but why would someone with a strong affinity with light magic come here?!
“Welp! See ya!”
He waved and jumped out the glass window.
“Wait!”
We both ran after him. He was running so fast and that we had a hard time catching up to him.
This is bad! We’ll enter the forest soon!
“Sir Renè! We can’t let him enter the woods! Permission to use wind magic to run ahead, sir!”
I voiced my concerns to the vice captain. With a grim expression and a nod, he gave me his orders.
“Becca, use wind to block his path inside the forest. Form the biggest barrier you could muster!”
“Understood!”
And with my orders, I ran full speed deeper into the forest.
"Sit ventis veni ad caput meum."
