Chapter 9: The Demon God Temple
“Holy shit, is this for real?”
Li Mubai was completely stunned.
Earlier, the four of them had agreed on a casual match where each person would show off their skills, and the one who lost the quickest would be the winner.
However, he never expected that just as he was about to close in on Ye Feng, he would fake being struck and fly backward.
But what happened next completely took him by surprise. Ye Feng didn’t just stand there—he actually dashed to where Li Mubai was about to fall and calmly said, “I predicted his movement.”
What the hell?!
This was unbelievable!
The entire arena fell silent. Han Yi and Wan Tianle were clutching their stomachs, almost laughing themselves silly.
“As expected of Ye Feng! Hahaha!”
“Brother Feng really knows how to handle things.”
Not far away, Sun Lanxue's face turned green.
She shot a glance at the two of them, then waved her hand, declaring that Li Mubai had won.
“Han Yi, Wan Tianle, you two get up here. If you dare throw another match, don’t blame me,” she warned.
“Teacher, I’ll admit defeat. My summoned creature has been having stomach issues, so it’s not fit for battle.”
Wan Tianle’s unexpected words caused an uproar. On the surface, it seemed reasonable. Summoners usually summon creatures they’re familiar with, and if the creature was sick, it made sense that it couldn’t fight.
But there was one problem… his summoned creature was undead!
Undead!
How could undead creatures get stomach issues?!
Sun Lanxue was so angry, her head started to ache.
In the end, the team members for the class battle were confirmed: Han Yi, Li Mubai, and Su Xinya.
They would have three days off to rest, and after that, the class rankings would be decided.
After school, the four of them decided to go out for a meal, with Li Mubai treating.
If someone’s treating, it’s rude to refuse.
At the school gate, Ye Xueying watched as the four of them walked away and smiled in satisfaction.
"Finally, my older brother has friends now. He’s not like before, cooped up at home all day watching anime and never going out. At least now he has friends, and their relationship looks pretty good."
Watching her best friend’s mysterious expression, Nie Xinyi was first stunned, then looked at the four people in front of her.
She recognized them—weren’t these the same four Ye Xueying had been secretly observing on the playground?
Nie Xinyi carefully studied them.
The one with the fierce look was definitely not Ye Xueying’s type.

The one who seemed lazy and uninterested? Also not it.
That left the two who appeared either honest or cheerful.
The honest-looking one was too simple and naive—definitely not her friend’s type.
That left… the sunny, handsome boy!
Her best friend had a sharp eye. This boy was not only good-looking but also radiated optimism and cheer.
Nie Xinyi could only watch from a distance, quietly realizing that her best friend must have a secret crush. As her closest friend, how could she not help her out?
What Ye Xueying didn’t know was that her attention toward her older brother Ye Feng had already led to a misunderstanding by her best friend.
...
Later that night, Peng City was unusually quiet.
A figure in a black robe walked down a dimly lit street, moving cautiously, glancing around warily.
Suddenly, four figures emerged from around a nearby corner, not far behind.
It was Ye Feng and his group.
After their meal, they had gone to an internet café to relax. On their way home, they encountered a middle-aged man who seemed no different from an ordinary person.
However, to their surprise, Wan Tianle pointed out that the man was carrying an unmistakable undead aura.
Even Wan Tianle, a summoner of undead creatures, didn’t have such an aura.
Thanks to his unique sensitivity, Wan Tianle was particularly attuned to this type of energy.
The only people who could emit this aura were the demons of the Demon God Temple.
The Demon God Temple had only one faction: the demons.
They worshipped the demon race, believing that only demons could lead humanity to greatness.
In other words, they were mere lackeys to the demon race.
Han Yi held a deep hatred for the demons. As soon as he learned that the man carried the undead aura, he wanted to follow him.
Seeing that their good friend was going after him, how could the others just stand by? So, they used Ye Feng’s so-called concealment magic tool to quietly follow him.
In reality, Ye Feng had used one of his immortal cultivation treasures, the Windrunning Orb—one of the few treasures he had crafted over the years.
When they saw the man don the black robe of the Demon God Temple, they became even more certain that he was one of their members.
“This is strange. Why would someone from the Demon God Temple be in Peng City?”
Li Mubai scratched his head, puzzled. But Han Yi’s voice grew serious.
“Not long ago, there was a demon disturbance outside Peng City. Some people suspected the Demon God Temple was behind it. Now, it seems they were right.”
“So, are we really going to follow them? With our abilities, isn’t it a little too reckless to go after such a powerful faction?”
Wan Tianle began to hesitate.
Han Yi smacked Wan Tianle on the head. “Stop being a coward. Ye Feng’s magic tool can completely hide our presence and aura.
With this, gathering intel will be a sure thing. If we can get information on why the Demon God Temple is here in Peng City, the authorities might reward us with a magic item.”
“Han Yi’s right. Fortune favors the bold.”
Li Mubai agreed, and with that, he and Han Yi took the lead.
Ye Feng and Wan Tianle exchanged glances, then shrugged and followed.
The four of them trailed the man into an alley, where there was a closed door.
The man knocked three times, and another black-robed figure opened the door, ushering him inside.
“Let’s go. Follow him in,” Han Yi urged.
Han Yi rushed forward, but Ye Feng grabbed his arm.
“I’m invisible, not a ghost. Do you think they can’t see us if we open the door?”
Ye Feng was starting to wonder if Han Yi’s muscles were taking up too much space in his brain.
“Good point. So, what should we do now?”
“I say we all go home. I was planning to watch anime.”
Ye Feng’s suggestion was met with approval from Wan Tianle.
Just then, Li Mubai, who had been quiet until now, suddenly had an idea.
He whispered to the others for a while, and soon, they all had enlightened looks on their faces.
When it came to schemes, Li Mubai was the one to beat.
...
Inside the house, three black-robed figures sat grimly, their faces filled with fear and helplessness.
“Right now, Peng City is looking for all Demon God Temple members, and we can’t even reach the three high-ranking officials in charge of this operation.”
“The earlier stages went smoothly, so why did everything fall apart at the critical siege phase?”
“I don’t know, but one thing’s certain: if we want to get everyone out now, we’ll have to use that thing.”
As soon as the words left his mouth, the other two fell silent.
Once they used that thing, there would be no turning back.
Just as the three of them were deep in thought, the door was suddenly knocked on, urgently.
