CHAPTER 5: THE HORDE OF AZURE WOLVES
As Ye Feng walked through a narrow alley, the storage ring on his finger trembled slightly. His clothes disappeared in an instant, replaced by a sleek black casual outfit. At the same time, the mask reappeared on his face.
This storage ring was something Ye Feng had crafted after accidentally finding a spatial stone upon arriving in this world.
Beyond its limitless storage space, the ring possessed a powerful life-saving function: spatial teleportation.
However, the destination of the teleportation was entirely unpredictable, making it a tool of absolute last resort.
When Ye Feng regrouped with the other members of the Skyhawk Demon-Hunting Team, he noticed that everyone wore grim expressions.
“Feng Ye, I’m sorry for the trouble this time,” said Chen Zhendong, one of the team captains.
“The horde of Azure Wolves from the mountain range near Peng City has suddenly moved en masse to surround the city.
All demon-hunting teams and members are required to assist in eliminating them.”
Chen Zhendong knew well that this high-level expert hated getting involved in troublesome affairs.
Normally, he wouldn’t call on Ye Feng unless absolutely necessary. But this time, they had no other choice.
Ye Feng nodded lightly without saying much.
Among the group, the only ones he was close to were Xu Ya and Chen Zhendong. As for the others?
Not only was he unfamiliar with them, but he couldn’t even remember their names.
The Demon-Hunting Association was packed. Every hunter team and member in Peng City had gathered to receive their combat assignments.
Although the army was holding the city walls, the Azure Wolves would not relent easily.
If the battle dragged on, resources would run scarce, and the city’s residents might fall into panic.
The current priority was to swiftly eliminate the wolf horde that had suddenly launched an attack on humanity.
“For Peng City! For humanity!”
The president of the Demon-Hunting Association placed his hand over his heart and shouted, his voice filled with fervor.
All the hunters followed suit, roaring in unison, their blood burning with determination.
Standing among the crowd, Ye Feng felt a bit out of place. Although he found the moment somewhat awkward, he still mimicked their actions, albeit half-heartedly.
OUTSIDE PENG CITY, NIGHTFALL
The battle had been raging for two hours.

The Skyhawk Demon-Hunting Team was assigned to an area populated mainly by low-tier Azure Wolves, with the occasional mid-tier wolf appearing.
Each was swiftly dealt with by the team.
Amidst the skirmishes, everyone occasionally glanced toward a specific direction.
They all understood that the outcome of this battle didn’t rest in their hands.
The true decider was the group of high-tier mages locked in a deadly confrontation with the Azure Wolf King.
All five of Peng City’s high-tier mages were engaged, yet even after two hours of relentless combat, no victor had emerged.
“Awooo!”
The Azure Wolf King let out an ear-splitting howl. Towering at three meters, its massive body was etched with white demonic patterns.
Dozens of wind blades tore through the air, forcing the five mages—including the association president, Tian Kui—to defend with all their might.
Wiping the blood from the corner of his mouth, Tian Kui stood tall despite his disheveled appearance.
With a wave of his hand, countless blades materialized out of thin air, slicing through the air toward the Azure Wolf King.
Simultaneously, the ground beneath the wolf’s feet caved in as vines burst forth, wrapping tightly around the beast.
As a high-tier mage, Tian Kui wielded three elemental powers: Metal, Earth, and Wood.
The other four high-tier mages unleashed their own magic, bombarding the Azure Wolf King with relentless attacks.
Yet, no matter how fiercely they fought, the beast remained unscathed. Its demonic eyes gleamed with disdain and bloodlust.
“Awooo!”
With another deafening howl, the Azure Wolf King shattered its bindings and split into five identical figures.
This was the wolf’s innate magic—Clones.
Each clone retained half the strength of the original, turning the tide of battle from an already difficult fight into an overwhelming struggle.
Only then did the mages realize the truth: the Azure Wolf King was a genuine high-tier, max-star entity.
If not for the limitations of its bloodline, it could very well have become a super-tier existence.
But now, the pressing question was: how could they possibly defeat it? Even the strongest among them, Tian Kui, was only a high-tier six-star mage.
IN THE SHADOWS
Two figures in black robes observed the scene, their sinister laughter echoing in the darkness.
“Yes, let them despair. Once the Azure Wolf King kills these five, we’ll strike while the other cities are still unprepared and take Peng City in one fell swoop!
It was worth the effort to lure away that military powerhouse. Otherwise, our plan would’ve been impossible to execute.”
“Indeed. Gathering all of Peng City’s top fighters here took so much time. I could’ve gotten a manicure in the meantime,” the woman quipped with a smirk.
The two exchanged victorious smiles, confident in their scheme.
“Care to share the joke? I could use a laugh.”
A raspy voice suddenly sounded behind them.
Startled, they turned to find a man in a black mask standing silently at their backs.
Reacting swiftly, they unleashed twin attacks of fire and ice magic, but Ye Feng flicked a finger dismissively.
Whoosh!
Crack!
The flames extinguished, and the ice shattered.
“So, you’re the masterminds? Thanks to you, I couldn’t make it home on time to play my game. Do you know how much that cost me?”
A terrifying aura emanated from Ye Feng, freezing the pair in fear. They turned to flee, but their efforts were laughable.
Wind and light—normally the fastest elements—were rendered sluggish under Ye Feng’s gaze. With casual strides, he appeared before them as though the concept of space itself bent to his will.
“Enough.”
With a wave of his hand, two wind blades streaked forward, slicing through their defenses and severing their heads.
Ye Feng extended a hand, collecting the valuable items they carried. Finding a wallet filled with several thousand yuan, he chuckled beneath his mask.
“Jackpot! I’m rich!”
Pocketing the wallet, he inspected their magic card collections.
“Not bad,” he murmured, adding the cards to his growing collection. Recently, he’d developed a new hobby: collecting magic cards.
Not only was he a hardcore anime fan, but he was also becoming a proud card game enthusiast.
Turning his gaze toward the distant Azure Wolf King, he smirked.
“My first ten-star high-tier magic card, here I come!”
