Chapter 8: Blinding Your Eyes

CHAPTER 8: BLINDING YOUR EYES

Group Two stepped onto the stage. Among them, the boy, Sun Hao, was someone Ye Feng knew—an old middle school classmate. The girl was a quiet, bespectacled girl named Xu Xiyue.

While Group Two readied themselves, Li Mubai, standing in the audience, began shouting.

“Bets are open! Bets are open! Place your wagers on whether the two of us can beat the formidable Group Two! Odds are 3:1 for us to win, and 1.2:1 for us to lose!”

Li Mubai’s confidence—or lack thereof—was apparent to everyone. Setting such low odds for their loss made it clear that even he doubted their chances.

The crowd, especially those unfamiliar with Li Mubai and Wan Tianle, immediately assumed the worst. For them, betting on Group Two was a no-brainer.

But Ye Feng and Han Yi, as close brothers, wouldn’t dream of doubting their pals. Without hesitation, they bet on Li Mubai’s team to win.

Sun Lanxue, watching this scene unfold, could only sigh in resignation. Why did her class have these four lunatics?

“Hey! Mubai! I’m betting 200 on us to win!”

Sun Hao shouted. Li Mubai raised his hand with an “OK” gesture in response.

After collecting all the wagers, Li Mubai and Wan Tianle walked to the stage.

Sun Hao was an Earth-element mage, and Xu Xiyue specialized in Water. Both were control-heavy mages and had reached five-star proficiency.

Meanwhile, Li Mubai and Wan Tianle’s abilities were no secret—they were three-star beginners, known to the entire class.

Once Sun Lanxue confirmed that both sides were ready, she announced the start of the match.

“Tianle! You know what to do!”

“Got it!”

Wan Tianle stomped the ground, summoning a formation that appeared mid-air.

“Interrupt him! Don’t let him finish summoning!” Sun Hao commanded, launching earth spikes to disrupt the spell.

But just as his spell fired—

“Time to blind you all!”

Li Mubai transformed into a dazzling beam of golden light, zipping around the stage. The intense brightness forced Sun Hao and Xu Xiyue to squint, unable to focus.

Meanwhile, Wan Tianle calmly pulled sunglasses out of his pocket and put them on.

“This is shameless! Utterly shameless!”

The crowd erupted in protest. They had never seen such an infuriating display of Light magic.

This novel's true home is a different platform. Support the author by finding it there.

“Hehehe…” Li Mubai chuckled mischievously. He followed up with a simple beginner-level Light spell, Illumination Bomb, throwing it straight at Sun Hao and Xu Xiyue’s faces.

The explosion of light blinded the pair entirely. They flailed their magic aimlessly in a desperate bid to defend themselves.

When the light finally faded, they found themselves face-to-face with a three-meter-tall skeleton glaring down at them.

Sitting smugly on its shoulders were none other than Wan Tianle and Li Mubai.

“Summoning Necromancy!” Sun Lanxue gasped. She hadn’t expected anyone to awaken such a rare and bizarre Summoning specialization.

“You’d better surrender. This Skeleton Giant is the apex of beginner-level undead. You can’t beat it,” Wan Tianle said, grinning widely. The smugness on his face only made him more punchable.

The battle’s conclusion was inevitable: the Skeleton Giant crushed the opposition with ease.

Thus, Wan Tianle and Li Mubai were crowned the “Shameless Duo” by their classmates.

...

MIDTERM EXAM

When the midterm exams arrived, Sun Lanxue’s heart soared with pride as she saw Ye Feng wearing a six-star badge. She had finally set this student on the right path! It was her crowning achievement as a teacher.

“Teacher, does this mean I get the magic artifact you promised me?” Ye Feng asked eagerly, his eyes gleaming.

Without hesitation, Sun Lanxue handed him a cross-shaped necklace.

“This is a magic artifact that enhances your mana training speed. Work hard and don’t disappoint my expectations.”

Ye Feng examined the necklace, his face betraying a hint of disdain. This is it?

Noticing his reaction, Sun Lanxue’s smile remained, but an icy aura of intimidation radiated from her. Ye Feng instantly switched to an expression of utmost reverence, clutching the necklace like a priceless treasure.

“Good,” Sun Lanxue said, patting his shoulder.

The final exams would focus on live combat, determining class rankings and resource distribution. Each class would field their three strongest students, all of whom had to be six-star or higher.

In Ye Feng’s class, the eligible candidates were Ye Feng, Han Yi, Qiu Qizhou, Su Xinya, Li Mubai, and Wan Tianle.

Surprisingly, the “Shameless Duo” had hidden their true strength all along.

After a random draw, the matchups were set:

* Ye Feng vs. Li Mubai

* Wan Tianle vs. Han Yi

* Qiu Qizhou vs. Su Xinya

“Teacher! I think you rigged this!” Li Mubai protested.

“Any objections?” Sun Lanxue raised an eyebrow, silencing him instantly.

Of course she had rigged it. She wanted to see just how deep these four weirdos’ talents ran. Normal opponents would never push them to their limits.

Little did she know, these four were about to teach her a valuable lesson: never underestimate the insanity of an unconventional mind.

In the training grounds, Ye Feng and Li Mubai, the first pair, prepared for battle.

“Brother Feng! Don’t hold back just because I’m your friend!”

“You too! Show them your true strength!”

“Alright!”

The two hyped each other up, brimming with youthful vigor.

To an outsider, their energy might seem sincere. But were these two normal?

The countdown began.

3… 2… 1… Ding!

The match began in a flash of fire and gold as their figures clashed.

“Ah!”

Li Mubai let out a pained cry, his golden light halting as he was sent flying.

“Brother Feng, you’re too strong! I’m no match for you!” he shouted mid-air, putting on a dramatic performance of utter defeat.

Li Mubai thought his exaggerated loss would save him the trouble of competing further. He even closed his eyes, ready to fall gracefully.

But then—

Boom!

Ye Feng appeared behind him, colliding heavily and falling to the ground.

“Mubai… I didn’t expect you to predict my movements…” Ye Feng groaned.
