Chapter 3: One Strike, Total Annihilation
"Two-headed Serpent Demon! Why is it a Two-headed Serpent Demon?!"
"Run! High-level beasts are beyond the capabilities of our mid-tier demon-hunting team!"
In an instant, panic spread through the team.
Chen Zhendong and Xu Ya stared at the Two-headed Serpent Demon in front of them, mentally cursing.
Why did it have to be a Two-headed Serpent Demon?!
A Two-headed Serpent Demon was on an entirely different level compared to a regular Serpent Demon. For them, it was like being struck by something from another dimension!
No wonder their attacks had felt so ineffective, no wonder the demon could injure them with just one strike.
It all made sense now...
"Don't worry about me! Go!"
Chen Zhendong struggled to get to his feet. This was the moment for him to step up as the team leader.
Xu Ya also stood up. Even against a demon capable of crushing them, she had no intention of retreating.
Dying in battle would be an honor.
The other seven team members exchanged fearful glances but remained rooted to the spot.
"What are you waiting for?! Go!"
Chen Zhendong shouted.
But before they could react, the Two-headed Serpent Demon’s newly grown head opened its mouth and shot out a stream of fire.
The flames weren’t normal—they were pitch-black demonic fire.
Seeing this, Chen Zhendong and Xu Ya quickly assumed defensive stances. They couldn’t retreat now; if they did, their teammates would be in danger. After all, their strength was only mid-tier, two or three stars, while they were eight- and nine-star warriors.
"Troublesome," a raspy voice said, filled with a hint of indifference.
A figure suddenly appeared before them without anyone noticing—it was Ye Feng.
Chen Zhendong and Xu Ya were stunned. What was he doing here, a beginner mage?
Facing high-tier demonic flames, wasn’t he just asking for death?
Even a full-star, mid-tier mage wouldn’t dare confront such flames head-on!
But what happened next shocked them even more.
Ye Feng stretched out his hand, and the fiery blaze before them vanished in an instant. He then brought his two fingers together.
Boom!
A loud thunderclap echoed.
A purple bolt of lightning shot down from the sky, instantly enveloping the Two-headed Serpent Demon, who let out a painful scream.
In the blink of an eye, the lightning faded, leaving only the demon’s charred, lifeless body crumpled on the ground.
Everyone was frozen in shock.
"That’s it, we’re done."

Ye Feng clapped his hands casually.
By now, the members of the Eagle Hunter Demon-slaying Team realized: this wasn’t some rookie—it was a high-level master pretending to be a beginner!
Ten minutes later.
After the team had recovered, they accepted the reality that Ye Feng wasn’t just a newbie—he was a big shot in disguise.
Chen Zhendong walked up to the Two-headed Serpent Demon’s corpse and took out a blank magic card. With a wave of his hand, a black mist swirled into the card.
Ye Feng was curious. What was this?
"Captain, what is this?"
"A magic card, don’t you know what a magic card is?!"
Chen Zhendong was taken aback. How could a high-level mage not know about magic cards?
Ye Feng shook his head. He truly had no idea.
Xu Ya explained, stepping forward: "A magic card is a special device that absorbs the energy of a demon’s corpse.
Once you have the card, you can use that demon's signature abilities. But the stronger the demon, the fewer times you can use its powers, and the longer the cooldown.
For example, the Two-headed Serpent Demon’s abilities—venom and demonic fire—can only be used three times at most. After that, it takes at least a week to recharge."
Ye Feng nodded. So that’s how it worked.
Chen Zhendong tossed the magic card to Ye Feng.
"The Two-headed Serpent Demon was mainly killed because of you. This card belongs to you."
"Forget it," Ye Feng said. "This won’t be useful for me. You guys fight demons all the time, so it’s better for you. If possible, I’d like a few blank magic cards."
Chen Zhendong didn’t hesitate. After taking the card, he tossed Ye Feng a stack of thirty or so blank cards.
Once they had finished dealing with the demon's body and were ready to leave, Ye Feng didn’t get into the vehicle.
"Ye Feng, aren’t you coming?" Xu Ya asked, confused, but Ye Feng simply waved his hand, not saying a word.
"Let’s go. Ye Feng probably has something to do. It’s not our place to stay here."
Chen Zhendong, sensing something was off, said and led the team away.
He wasn’t stupid. How could a high-level Two-headed Serpent Demon appear in the wastelands near Peng City without anyone noticing? Clearly, it had been deliberately placed here.
Not long after the team left, Ye Feng looked up at the shadows in the forest.
"Come out. I don’t like talking to people hiding in the dark."
A black-robed figure emerged from the shadows.
"Your perception is impressive. When did Peng City get a mage like you?"
These were people known as Demon-Hybrids, beings who had merged with demons to gain immense power.
"You may be strong, but I’m stronger!"
The black-robed man declared, releasing a surge of magical energy.
Ye Feng glanced at him and then at the darkening sky. He needed to hurry back—his computer at Starry Internet Café was waiting.
Today was the new anime episode release.
"No time for idle chatter," Ye Feng said. "I’ve got to go watch my waifu."
With that, he formed a hand seal, and a bolt of heavenly lightning fell. The once-boastful black-robed man was reduced to ashes.
Two hours later.
Two more black-robed figures arrived, looking at the charred remains and scattered belongings. They were left in confusion.
Who killed their comrade?
And it was their superior in this operation!
When did Peng City get such a powerhouse who could silently eliminate high-tier mages?

Half a Month Later
At Starry Internet Café, a girl dragged her older brother out by his foot.
"Stinky older brother, you’re coming home with me! School starts tomorrow, you need to go pack!"
"No! I don’t want to! I want to play games, I want to watch anime! I don’t want to go to school!"
For the past half month, Ye Feng had become the top player at Starry Internet Café, practically living there.
It was only recently that Ye Xueying had found him.
She had been worried sick—her older brother hadn’t come home in over half a month.
A few times, she had tried to persuade him to come back, but today, there was no more negotiation. Tomorrow was the first day of school!
Amidst Ye Feng’s despair, he watched his beloved internet café fade from view.
"No!!!"
