12pm Sunday, Hilton boys. Tom was called in for a meeting with Mr Nelson, one of the main caregivers at Hilton boys home.
Entering a small room the first thing Tom saw was an old man with a oval shaped head. With a glance Tom noticed the old man's shinny head that didn't even have a speck of hair.
While seated in front of a desk the old man gestured his hand towards a chair across from himself.
"Good afternoon, Theodore. If you would please take a seat, I would like to have a discussion on your schooling options.
Once Tom had taken a seat, the older figure broke out of his straight sitting posture. Leaning slightly forward he began interlocking his fingers and resting his elbows on the end of his desk.
"Now, here at Hilton boys, we are to offer support to children in need.
No matter the past, we seek to better children's future.
In order to accomplish this, there are five things we need to offer, unfortunately two of those five things are only capable, of the children themselves.
What we provide, is physiological and safety needs, with the addition of a place to belong to.
Theodore, do you perhaps know what the last two needs are?"
Noticing Tom shaking his head in inquisitiveness, Mr Nelson continued.
"The two other needs are, a feeling of accomplishment and fulfillment.
I admit when it comes to these two needs, we Hilton boy's are lacking.
In order for you to achieve these two needs, attending schooling is required.
Furthermore, I have been put upon a situation, to offer you two options.
The first option is to go to Franklin Secondary school, but due to your history, parents and teachers may become disapproving of you attending school with their children, leading you to fall upon the second option.
This second option, is to be home schooled at Hilton boys, here you would achieve learning requirements, but in my personal opinion social interaction with persons is a fundamental requirement of life.
Lastly, I know through your past schooling achievement records, that you would put the needed thought into deciding your future, so I'll be leaving you to your own devices.
look for me after dinner, I'll be expecting an answer by that time."
Standing up, Mr Nelson raised his hand across the desk.
Out of habit, not having a clue to what Mr Nelson was talking about, Tom used his go to, super memory power. Understanding the situation he realized he did want the time to think about a decision.
Shaking Mr Nelson's hand. Tom couldn't help but notice how hairy they were, betraying his well maintained shaven scalp.
With an attempt of a smile, Tom replied before leaving.
"Thank you for your wise word's Sir and thank you for giving me this decision."
Contemplating on making a decision Tom left to his room, to ask Leo on his suggestion.
Just before Tom slumped on the couch Leo asked.
The narrative has been stolen; if detected on Amazon, report the infringement.
"Yo, Whats up?"In response Tom didn't even look towards Leo, resting his gaze towards his book laying on top of his neatly folded bunk.
"If you had the option of School and home School what would you pick."
Without hesitation Leo replied.
"Home School, without a doubt."
Waiting, Tom knew Leo would explain why, and like clockwork Leo let out a small chuckle and elaborated.
"Home School's amazing, you do some work like, a little bit of work, and then you can do whatever you want."
Not being sold on the idea, Tom decided to ask where Sammy was.
Reaching Sammy's smoking spot, Tom noticed him talking on his phone with a smoke in his hand.
"Luca, I need you to send Deano some smokes to give to me at school, I haven't seen him around Hilton."
"What do you mean he's not around your place?"
"Then where the fuck is he?"
Noticing Tom Sammy decided to end his call.
"Luca, I'll call you later, I gotta go."
Sighing, Sam let out a glare towards Tom.
"This better be important, not one of your silly questions."
Grinning Tom pulled out one of the smokes Sam had offered him when he first came.
Noticing the smoke, Sam quickly pocketed it.
Seeing Sam's actions Tom decided now was the right time, as any.
"What's better School, or home school?"
Hearing Tom's question, Sam frowned before asking.
"Is that why you were called in to see Mr Nelson?"
When Sam saw Tom nod he continued."Home school's good, but not for you.
I find you avoid answering things yourself, for example, I'm guessing that you turned to ask me and Leo, straight after being told about this right?"
Confused on how Sammy knew what he did, Tom nodded along anyway.
"I also think, you would love to be able to access the school Library, right?"
Hearing those words Tom's eyes lit up.
Then and there, Tom made his final decision to attend Franklin Secondary school.
Later that day Tom made sure to get a workout on his chest and back.
Before starting the workout, Tom ran two laps around the Hilton building.
After the run, he made sure to do a quick stretch of his whole body, recalling Theo's Father's book it did mention avoiding muscle pain through stretching.
Starting his body workout, Tom done four cycles with eleven repetitive push ups making one cycle.
During his run, Tom noticed a old molded wooden playground, that looked like it hadn't been used in years.
Using two rounded wooden slabs with a rusted metal pole connecting, Tom continued his workout.
Using the pole, Tom lifted himself doing three cycles of nine repetitive pull ups, doing these actions, Tom couldn't help but think of the pain to his back it would bring in the morning.
To Tom's relief, his body was skinny so lifting himself up was quite easily done.
But from the lack of exercise Theo had done, Tom had hardly any stamina.
Only through grit and determination, he managed to accomplish the workout and end his session with a stretch.
Finishing his stretch, Tom went to have a shower before dinner.
During dinner Tom went and grabbed chicken breast, baked beans and mixed vegetables.
Through a conversation between Him, Leo and Sammy he got information on muscle gain. Awkwardly, all he made out of the conversation was protein was good and carbs and fats were not that great.
Hooked on the idea of getting a better body than in his past life Tom considered his diet.
After dinner was finished, kids formed up into a orderly neat line for dessert.
Tom had realized the day prior, that if he offered Leo his dessert, he could get 3 dollars for it so he always gave it away without a thought.
In just two days Tom had collected 6 dollars. Remembering Leo's 200 dollars though, it seemed like chump change.
After dinner Tom approached Mr Nelson's small office and accepted his school enrollment.
Noticing Mr Nelson's relieved face, Tom couldn't help but think there had more to it than he expected.
Thinking into it more, he couldn't quite come up with something that would interfere with his plans, so he put the thought at the back of his mind.
Before going to sleep, Tom was waiting for Leo to startup his nightly conversation.
Grinning Tom couldn't help but think that there would be a day, when he actually wanted Leo to talk to him while he was trying to sleep.
Leo was always shallow with his answers during the day.
But Tom noticed at night time, during their conversations, Leo would talk more in depth, just to keep the conversation going.
Hearing Leo whispering his name, Tom couldn't hold in his question any longer.
"Yeah I'm up. Leo, can I ask you a question?."
Picking off parts of the foam mattress Leo replied.
"Yeah shoot, Whats up?"Hearing Leo, Tom couldn't help but get a nervous feeling in his stomach.
"Those pills that you sell, how did you get them and Is there any chance I could get some?"
After awhile of pondering, and collecting a fair pile of foam Leo answered.
"I got ADHD, so I take these pills.
It kinda work's but I never feel like myself after using them, you know.
Time goes either really fast or really slow when I take them and I don't like it.
One day a dude approached me and bought some for a lot of money, well at the time I thought it was a lot.
After doing a few more dealings I noticed the dude ripped me off, hard.
If you match a certain criteria you can get the pills too.
If you want, I could help you?"
Leo didn't know at the time but right now Tom was grinning from ear to ear.
