Waking up Sam felt groggy with a sudden urge to skull water, relieving the desert in his dry throat.
Gazing towards the criss cross springs and the empty brown foam mattress he pushed himself up quickly, slightly missing the top bunk.
Grabbing his toiletry bag and a towel, he left to the ablutions.
During his walk he passed Leos room. He had no intention of showing his face around there, Leo always needed something and the new kid was just as needy. Although Sam knew this he couldn't help but take a small glance at what the new kid was doing.
From a gap in the corner of the door he saw the new kid Theo. He was still laying across the bed reading through the book that Sam had given to him. That kid had been reading that book for 2 days straight now, he must of read through the book more than 4 times. The first time he finished the book he went and bothered Sam for another book. Sam would give out almost everything, but he would never let anyone else ever touch one of his books.
Without a guess, Sam knew exactly where Leo was.
Sam knew Leo like the back of his hand, heck Sam knew everybody in Hilton boys home like the back of his hand, but he couldn't quite but his finger on the knew kid Theo.
At first he was afraid of the kid, so his reaction was fight or flight leading to Sam deciding to put on a front to show the kid not to fuck with him.
To his surprise at the time, he thought it had worked, but after awhile he soon realized he was wrong.
The kid was harmless, just showing him around gave Sam a rough idea of how the kid was. he listened intently, he was curious, his manners were used often, although it made him sound older the way he pronounced them.
He wouldn't hesitate to take things but he was also shy and thoughtful when he asked for stuff.
Every time Sam put effort in explaining something important, Theo would listen and put so much thought towards Sam's words to the point where he looked like he was shitting himself.
Sam couldn't help but think of himself in Theo.
Sam was the youngest of 3 as a kid, being the youngest his mother always gave him the most attention and through the love and affection Sam thrived as a kid growing up.
His mother taught him manners, curiosity, aspects of learning and more.
His father was the definition of an Italian, but the rest of their family were apparently living better lives in America. Sams father would of left there but Sams mother wouldn't leave her homeland.
Filling the void of a family his father started a gang.
Not wanting to be apart of that life his mother left, she tried to take custody of Sam but she had past history of mental health problems leading to her losing the case. She did try and stay in town but Sams father made it difficult for her, and soon enough she left, only sending texts and mailing gifts on his birthdays.
Years later his father got done in for attempted murder through a gang rivalry, and without a adult figure that had blood or no criminal history he was put into Hilton boys.
Later that morning, Hilton Boys. Tom had just finished having a shower and was heading back to his room. Reaching his room he saw Leo and Sammy seated on the couch, Leo was watching TV and Sammy was using a cellphone.
Tom hadn't seen anybody use a cellphone since he had moved in, but today he had seen multiple people with one in there hands.
Hanging up his wet towel upon the open door he heard Sammy.
"Leo take Theo with you, he needs some toiletries."
Pinching the end of his nose to make it more dramatic he continued.
"I mean even though he's had a shower, he still smells like shit.
Hearing Sams words Leo moved his hand out, slowly turning it around, opening his palm.
"20 bucks. Patting his pockets Sam grabbed out a 20 dollar note putting it in Leos hand.
"Buy the stuff he needs with that money, you can keep the change if there's any.
Pocketing the money, Leo threw a question towards Tom.
The author's content has been appropriated; report any instances of this story on Amazon.
"Yo Theo, you got any money. Bringing his bottom lip out and shaking his head Tom answered.
"Nope, barrels empty, not even a nickel.
After getting odd looks from both Leo and Sam, Tom quickly decided to change the subject.
Hey um, why does everyone got cellphones out all the sudden?
Hearing that question Sam made a slight grin.
"During the weekends we get our phones and stuff back, we're also aloud out, until like, 3.
Leo needed to do some errands around the mall, so I thought he should take you.
Hearing those words Tom couldn't help but break into a smile.
After breakfast Tom and Leo headed off. Before leaving Hilton boys they had to fill in a sign out form, while leaving Tom collected a brown bag that had a wholegrain, peanut butter and jam sandwich with a pear with him. Leo didn't even look towards the bags continuing as if they were invisible.
Walking down the road Leo made a sudden stop. After Leo pushed a button on a large poll Tom heard a robotic voice come out of nowhere.
"Yellow bus. 5 minutes.""Orbiter bus. 2 minutes."
In less than 2 minutes a Green bus came. Stepping on the bus Leo gave the driver a note.
"2 children please. After the driver gave Leo some coins and 2 tickets, Leo started walking through the bus path. Tom followed him all the way to the back.
Tom noticed the further he went to the back of the bus the younger the people got. Because he was heading towards the back, he also thought Leo was also following some sort of unspoken rule.
Jumping off, Tom's eyes widened. The mall was huge, with a thought he recalled all sorts of malls from Theos memories, and to his surprise this wasn't the biggest one out of the lot. Tom had been trying to keep himself from recalling all of Theos memories, lately it felt like he was losing his own experience or in other words his own views towards things after recalling memories. Although it helps it feels like he's not quite himself after.
Walking around Tom couldn't help but stare at all the beautiful women. Tom thought that all the women in the the box TV, were just made up things especially all the beautiful ladies. Through Theo's perfect memories Tom did recall seeing a few but Theo himself wouldn't look at a person for more than 30 secs.
The mall was cool, Leo showed him around and they managed to get body wash, shampoo, conditioner, toothbrush and toothpaste for 20 dollars exactly. Leo didn't seem bothered about losing out on abit of coin so Tom was relieved.
Throwing his arms around Tom, Leo made a small remark.
"You should have brought some shades, with that pocket money. You keep eyeballing every girl that passes by.
After saying those words a hooded figure stood up off a seat. He had a faded black hoodie with smudged paint marks on it, he had scruffy long hair and some ripped black jeans. Walking towards Leo he glanced towards his left and right, and then rested his gaze towards Leo's right foot.
"Hey Leo man, whos this dude, I don't know him, man?
Patting his pockets Leo replied.
"He's cool, he's my new room mate, so what you want?
Glancing left and right the strange figure continued.
"I'll have a pack of 20s and I'll grab all your 10s if you got some.
Putting one hand in his pocket Leo smiled.
"I don't have any 10s those are hard to come by, 200 for a pack, I don't do middle man prices.
Watching the man pull out a stack of tens, fives and twentys. Tom saw, for the first time Leo's angry face. Tom could see Leos sudden urge to smack the strange figure over.
With a worried expression Leo just grabbed all the money out of the strange figures hands and shoved a packet of pills in his hands while walking off. worried, Tom hurriedly followed.
Reaching a food court Leo told Tom to wait there. While waiting Tom couldn't help but notice the beautiful girl standing right next to him.
She had short denim jeans with white tearing at the bottom. Her white singlet to match the jeans made her perfect figure stand out even more. Her brown light skin looked really smooth to the point it gave off a shine. She had thick black hair that were in braids, letting her big forehead slightly show and her light brown eyes. Her light brown eyes pretty much sealed the deal.
Glancing at her phone she didn't notice Tom obviously eyeing her up.
With a kick in his step Tom approached her. "Howdy ma'am, I couldn't help but notice you from where I stood. I don't know whether If you heard this before but if I would have to choose the full moon, or you to stare at every night, I'd pick you.
Although her expression of disgust was shown Tom wasn't that bothered. Squinting her eyes and looking at Tom up and down she replied.
"Ew. I already have a boyfriend, and he will probably break your twig ass with a push.
Unfazed Tom reached out to his imaginary hat, tilting his head slightly he responded."Sorry that I bothered you ma'am, I'll be taking my leave.
Turning around he saw a larger figure. He was about the same size as Tom in his past life. His skin was olive like Sam's and he had on a white T-shirt with a embroidery, saying spietato. His hair was short on the sides with a longer layer of hair at the top pushed over into a curve.
"Hey kid, you should stop hitting on my girl, I could see you eye balling her from a mile away?
In response Tom just shrugged. "I was just leaving.
Hearing those words the Large young adult put his hand infront of Tom stopping him.
"I'm sorry kid, but for how long you looked at my girl, it'll cost you. Hmm lets say around about 50 bucks.
Hearing the large figure say those words Tom started looking around for Leo.
Noticing Toms response the young adult just combed his hair backwards with his hand, then threw that same hand out with a quick throw of his wrist.
Noticing the jab from a mile away Tom tucked the left side of his head into his left shoulder. The punch landed slightly into Tom's right ear causing a ringing noise.
With a quick thought Tom stepped forward throwing a short quick left hook towards the large figures kidneys. Seeing this the large figure broke into a cold sweat.
Landing the hook with all his weight Tom felt a good impact. But before he could appreciate his good punch he felt himself being lifted up really high, and out of nowhere he was thrown like a rag doll, towards the floor, when Tom landed on his back he felt like a balloon being untied, getting all the wind knocked out of him.
Laying on the floor he saw the large figure walking off, he was sticking his chest out more than before. Obviously proud of picking on small fry.
Security came not to long after the incident, they helped Tom out, when Tom was thrown his bag was knocked over and his toothpaste was squished, after this they reimbursed Tom. One of them even mentioned him looking like the kid on the news. When Leo came along they had a massive change in character, maybe they knew Leo but after he came they ended up telling them to fuck off or they'll ring the cops.
Heading home Tom told Leo what happened. Leo didn't know who the dude was but he had, a guess at who the girl was. Leo liked to talk but he wouldn't mention who she was, he wanted Sammy to tell him because it would be alot more funnier that way ,he explained.
When they arrived back home, Tom started a workout on his legs with some of the exercises he learnt in Theo's father's book. After dinner Tom had a shower using his new products he once again, felt an amazing pleasure of something new. Reaching his room he came across Leo patting Sammy's back laughing his ass off. Sammy looked like he was in his normal pissed off moods. When Sammy saw Tom he quickly walked upto Tom.
"Theo, did you see Nadine, who was that guy you had a fight with?
Hearing those words, Tom forgot to mention what happened, he wanted to know who the girl was and it looked like Sam and her had history.
"I don't know her name but she was as beautiful as the moon.
Cutting Tom off before he said something to upset Sam, Leo rounded up the story.
"Theo tried to talk with Nadine, then her new boyfriend asked him for money, for looking at her and then he started a fight. Theo lost and now we're here. Sam, you need to get over her, she's trouble.
Sam realizing his uncool behavior in front of Theo sighed.
"Yeah I know, I haven't seen her I just wanted to know how she is.
Grinning Leo looked towards Tom and Sam.
"Well it doesn't matter that much, does it, you'll see her at school on Monday.
Hearing this Tom couldn't help but blurt out.
"School!?"
