Chapter 7: Finding Her Path

Chapter 7: Finding Her Path

As Marcus and Amelis stood up they came face to face with the Four Kings. The 10 acquaintances kept on muttering to each other as they stood on the sidelines whilst Melia and Malian stood by their fathers side looking over at Marcus and Amelis with concern but also curiosity.

“You may speak” King Luim announced as he gestured his hand towards Marcus and Amelis. Marcus stepped forward towards the Four Kings and bowed yet again.

“I thank the Four Kings for the honour of letting us speak with them in their throne room personally” Marcus said.

“Please, Marcus, raise your head” Bradamis said with a smile as he gestured towards Marcus to relax. Responding to Bradamis’s gesture, Marcus let go of the tension he was feeling and lifted his head up.

“Then, let me start from the beginning and yet again introduce myself” Marcus said. As he spoke the whole room became quiet, waiting, to hear what the young man had to say.

“My full name is Marcus Frostborne, the person over here on my right is my sister, Amelis Frostborne and we are the last survivors of the Frostborne, people who only desired peace and quiet as we lived our days in the Krysandilis Mountains. The FROZEN TERROR took my and Amelis’s people away from us and the one who caused it was none other than the King of the Gamor Kingdom, King Saad Gamor. After my village was destroyed we were taken in as prisoners by the Gamor Kingdom where we spent our days rotting away. Me and Amelis were taken prisoner along with everyone else who survived the mass onslaught but after we escaped, me and Amelis were taken in by an elderly couple in the mountains who told us that they managed to run away and hide from the army of King Gamor. We were hidden away with them and they taught us everything we needed to know about Covenants” Marcus kept on speaking. The whole conference around them couldn’t believe what they were hearing, everyone had a face of despair, shock, and confusion. Everyone there heard of the stories about the Frostborne but, everyone thought they were wiped out completely leaving nothing to find, no one knew that they were actually killed and the rest were taken in as prisoner. Melia looked down at her father who was trying his hardest to look unfazed by what he was witnessing but as she looked over at Malian she could see that he was almost scared of the fact that there were two Frostborne survivors standing right in front of him, sweat was starting to drip down his face as his eyes widened from the shock. Bradamis changed his position in the throne by leaning forward covering his face.

“The people who taught us everything are dead now, and ever since then, Me and Amelis were left alone, wandering the continent and figuring out a plan so that we could get revenge on the one figure who destroyed our lives, King Gamor. Over the years we have gathered information on every single member of the Gamor army that we could and now we are on a mission to recruit people. Brave and talented people who have the ability to learn and grow their power as we aid them with it so that me and Amelis can stand a chance against King Gamor’s Army” Marcus finished leaving the throne room in silence. The ten acquaintances started muttering with each other, Malian stayed quiet whilst Melia looked down at her father.

“Dad” Melia whispered to her father.

“YOU’RE LYING” one of the acquaintances shouted out making everyone look over at him.

“THERE’S NO WAY THAT YOU ARE ONE OF THE FROSTBORNE, WHO WERE WIPED OUT 20 YEARS AGO!” the acquaintance shouted pointing his finger at Marcus.

“CARRAMAR! STOP THIS INSOLENCE RIGHT NOW!” King Enhant shouted as he stood up from his throne.

“YOUR MAJESTY, WITH ALL DUE RESPECT, THERE IS NO WAY THE FROSTBORNE ARE ALIVE, ITS JUST IMPOSSIBLE!” Carramar kept on yelling.

“IF YOU DON’T STOP RIGHT NOW, I WILL HAVE YOU ESCORTED OUT OF THE PREMISES THIS INSTANT” King Enhant shouted.

“No, it’s alright Your Majesty, do you wanna show them your power Marcus?” Amelis said whilst looking at Carramar.

“If Your Majesty allows me, then I shall do so” Marcus said. Marcus looked at the Four Kings seeking for approval. Carramar looked at Marcus and Amelis in frustration.

“Very well, I allow you to prove yourself that you are indeed, one of the Frostborne” King Enhant said, sitting down again. Carramar kept looking at Amelis and Marcus with frustration. The Four Kings stared intently, waiting to see what Marcus will do. Amelis stepped back a bit which made everyone feel concerned a bit more whilst Melia walked behind her Father’s throne out of instinct as she watched on out of curiosity. As Marcus closed his eyes, he breathed in. And then out. Bradamis leaned forward in his throne. Everyone started to feel the surrounding air grow colder and colder. Melia, as she breathed out, saw that she could see her breath.

“Dad, it’s getting cold in here” Melia said.

“I know darling, I feel it too” Bradamis said. As Marcus opened his eyes everyone could see all of a sudden a glow in his eyes. His pupils completely switched over to that of a snowflake, glistening marvellously whilst giving off a cold radiance. He lifted his arms and opened up his palms where two small snowflakes started appearing out of thin air. The snowflakes started spinning faster whilst also growing to unbelievable levels. A cold aura surrounded his legs, snow and ice started forming around his vicinity, swirling around his body. Then, as he raised his arms up to his chest, the two snowflakes joined together and a ball of ice started to form, growing bigger and bigger, spinning faster and faster. Icicles started forming around the whole room, sharp but glistening.

“This is the power of the Frostborne that you so wanted to see Carramar. So tell me, are you satisfied now?” Marcus said whilst staring at him. The cold aura that surrounded Marcus terrified the acquaintances but most of all, THE EYES. As Carramar looked at them longer and longer, he felt like he would eventually freeze up and turn into ice, he was shook stiff. Paralyzed even. His mouth was wide open from the shock but he started to sweat profusely from the fear that he felt that he would die just from standing NEAR Marcus. Malian looked around at the other Kings who stared at Marcus, fascinated by this mysterious power that they thought was gone long ago but it was there. It was there right in front of them.

“It’s so beautiful” Melia spoke. Whilst everyone felt terror and fear from watching Marcus showcase his power all that Melia could see was gentleness and beauty, something that Malian could not understand whilst watching Marcus.

“Thank you Marcus, for that beautiful showcase” Bradamis said as Marcus let go of his power, his eyes returned to their original state, releasing the snow he created onto the floor of the throne room creating a circle of snow around him. Amelis smiled as she looked at Melia who didn’t fear her brother’s power, but instead, was enchanted by it.

“We now believe you, DON’T WE CARRAMAR?!” King Enhant said, looking at Carramar angry. Carramar snapped out of his fear, shaking his head.

“Ye- YES. VE- VERY MUCH SO, YOUR MAJESTY” Carramar responded whilst bowing his head.

“Marcus Frostborne. You have shown me your conviction and your dedication to your cause and I thank you for that but I also thank you for opening up to us about your past I’m sure you left out a lot of information but still. I’m glad that the Frostborne clan didn’t died out but I am sad that you and your sister are the last of your kind. If there is anything we, as the Kings of the VEIL Kingdom, can do to help your cause we will stop at nothing to do so” Bradamis said as he stood up. He walked over to Marcus and Amelis, stepping in the snow that Marcus created.

“What are you going to do now?” Bradamis asked Marcus, standing face to face.

“As much as I would love to stay, me and Amelis have a duty, so we leave by tonight to our next destination” Marcus explained.

“I see, well then, may I ask if you would join us for a banquet tonight before your departure in honour of you and your sister?” Bradamis asked.

“We would love to but sadly we can’t” Marcus said.

“I see well then, I’ll make sure to send you off on your way tonight as one final goodbye” Bradamis said.

“We would very much like that” Amelis interrupted as she stepped forward, placing her hand on Marcus’s right shoulder. She gave a quick smile towards Marcus who reciprocated it.

“Very well then, I will see you both tonight for, hopefully, not the last time” Bradamis said. Marcus and Amelis nodded their heads in agreement and as they started to leave the Palace, King Luim walked up to Bradamis.

“Do you think we will ever see those two again?” King Luim asked.

“I don’t know, but something tells me that if we do, one day, see them again on the doorstep of the VEIL Kingdom that it won’t be for a good reason” Bradamis said with a stern face.

“Don’t be so rigid, old friend. I’m sure when the time comes, we will be ready to protect our Kingdom no matter the cost” Tarroy said, placing his hand on Bradamis’s right shoulder.

“I’ll go gather up Iluman and Dyrra” Tarroy said.

“Yeah, you go do that” Bradamis said. The acquaintances that were stood there walked over to the three Kings who were by the thrones, consulting them whilst Melia and Malian rushed down the stairs to join their Father.

“What did you ask them?” Melia asked.

“I asked them, what they are going to do now?” Bradamis responded.

“What did they say?” Malian asked. Both now waiting patiently for Bradamis’s answer.

“They said that they are leaving by tonight. Though they would love to stay, Marcus said that he and Amelis have a ‘duty’ and that they have to move forward if they want to achieve it” Bradamis said. Malian looked completely unfazed but Melia looked down as if she was disappointed in the answer she heard. As if she wanted them to stay. Melia looked over at the palace door and in the back of her mind, she could hear a female voice.

“Follow them” it said. She could feel it. Melia could feel the cries within her to follow those twos footsteps. She wanted to see where that path would take her. Ever since she’s found out about these two and has seen them she suddenly couldn’t get her mind off of it. Melia thought of it as just a hunch. A mishap. But once she noticed Marcus’s power the only word that came out of her mouth was ‘BEAUTIFUL’. Melia had seen the use of Covenants before but never as elegantly or as majestically like that.

“Dad” Melia said.

“Yes sweetheart?” Bradamis asked.

“You know how you always told me as a child that one day I will find my path and I would know that I have found it because of a certain feeling?” Melia said.

“Yeah, I remember” Bradamis said.

“I think. I found my path” Melia said looking out onto the open palace doors that presented the beautiful outside world. Bradamis looked forward and saw what she was talking about, he saw the two figures walking down the stairs, he saw Marcus and Amelis and for a split second, he realised what she meant by ‘her path’. He looked down at her and saw her eyes filled with wonder and joy. So much that he also started to smile. ‘You know Avedale, she really does remind me of you. She has your ambition sealed deep inside herself’ Bradamis thought to himself.

“What is it Father?” Malian asked wondering as he saw his father crack a smile.

“Just revisiting a past memory” Bradamis explained.

“Could I speak to Melia privately, Malian?” Bradamis asked. Malian smiled.

“Of course, I’ll be in my room, waiting” Malian said as he walked off down the Palace corridor.

“Melia, are you sure this is the path that you want to walk down?” Bradamis asked. Melia thought about it for a minute, pondering over the idea ‘is this really what I want to do?’ before she looked back with a stern face.

“YES” Melia said.

“Very well then. But before you go down this path, I need to give you something that will help you down this dangerous path” Bradamis said.

“What are you going to give me?” Melia asked, confused, looking at her Father.

“Follow me” Bradamis said as he started marching down the corridor. Melia followed shortly after in complete silence. The two, calmly, walked through the corridor.

“Dad, where are we going?” Melia asked, looking up at Bradamis.

“Somewhere where I haven’t gone in over 20 years” Bradamis said, sternly, looking down the corridor. Melia looked down at the corridor, awkwardly. A moment of silence introduced itself between the two as they walked down the corridor, solemnly. Melia looked at Bradamis as he suddenly stopped in front of a broken down, grey, wooden door. She looked at him confused but she saw that they have arrived at their destination.

“I thought no one is allowed in this room” Melia said looking at her Father.

“Yeah, I closed this room off after my wife died since this room meant a lot to me and her and I couldn’t bear to open up these doors again. But I am ready, and so are you” Bradamis said sternly. He pushed open the run-down, besmirched, rough doors and with one massive swing the doors flung wide open revealing an ancient library filled to the brim with books covered in dust and cobwebs. Melia looked at the circular room with a centre point in the middle of the library. As they walked, Melia could feel the chill in the air but it wasn’t unpleasant, if anything it was the opposite for some weird reason.

Stolen story; please report.

“What are we doing here?” Melia asked.

“Just follow me” Bradamis said, coldly.

“Okay” Melia responded. Bradamis made his way to the centre of the library. He blew the dust of the middle point, revealing a picture on the floor.

“A phoenix?” Melia said, confused. The stone picture she saw on the floor was of a phoenix, sprouting its wings as if it was a newborn.

“Stand back for a second, Melia” Bradamis told Melia. Melia stepped back off the stone picture that was on the floor as she watched her father moving forward towards a bookshelf so old, that one touch could probably knock the whole thing down to its knees. As Bradamis kept on walking forward, he found himself in front of the bookshelf, he raised his right hand and pulled out a book titled ‘The Phoenix be Reborn’. He blew the dust off of it, opened the book and kept going through it until Melia saw he stopped. Bradamis turned around and went back to Melia’s side.

“What is it Dad?” Melia asked as she looked up. Up at her Father who was consoling the book.

“This book meant a lot to me and my wife, Avedale, but after she passed away, I couldn’t bear to come back here anymore. So I locked this room along with One. More. Secret” Bradamis said. He flipped to a page and started scanning for something. Melia, as curious as she was, tried to look at what her Father was looking at.

“MAY THE PHOENIX RISE” Bradamis said. Melia looked confused at her Father until the ground around them started shaking.

“DAD, WHAT’S HAPPENING?” Melia asked, worryingly. Bradamis didn’t respond to Melia’s question, instead he just kept on looking forward. The ground where the stone picture of the phoenix was being depicted started to shake violently, blowing away all the dust surrounding and breaking away at the stone causing it to fall apart. Melia, scared, clung to her Father’s side. Suddenly, as the stone picture collapsed completely, a staircase revealed itself, leading down to somewhere that Melia didn’t know even existed. As the rumbling stopped, Melia let go of her Father’s arm and stared down deep into the dark, ominous staircase.

“Come on. Let’s go” Bradamis said. He picked up a torch, lit it on fire and started his descent down the stairs with Melia following shortly after. As they made their descent down the staircase, Melia noticed that even though it should be getting colder as they descended, she was starting to feel warmer.

“Dad, where are we going?” Melia asked yet again, concerned.

“You’ll see” Bradamis said.

“Okay” Melia responded. Melia felt like they were walking down these stairs now for ages, it just kept going on, and on, and on, and on as they walked down the spiralling staircase. Suddenly, Bradamis stopped in his tracks. Melia joined him and saw a large corridor that stopped at two massive stone doors that were covered in moss but also held depictions of a phoenix as well on them. As Melia and Bradamis made their way down the corridor, Melia couldn’t help but get a feeling of comfort and warmth whilst walking down this corridor.

“We are here” Bradamis said with a stern voice. As Melia looked up at the Stone doors she could see that it wasn’t just a phoenix being depicted on the doors but also, humans. Humans were bowing down to the phoenix and praying to it as if it was a god. The phoenix recognised this and as Melia looked forward into the depictions she saw that the Phoenix taught the humans how to control and use fire with care and precision. She stared at the pictures in confusion, trying to figure out what all of this means. Bradamis stepped forward and placed his right arm on the stone doors. Fire started coming out of his hand and the fire spread across the doors lighting up the depictions in full. As Bradamis stepped back, Melia looked to the depictions now with curiosity but also shock. The fire that was spreading enabled the doors to open. The doors opened slowly as all the dust and small rocks started to fall off the doors but once they opened, Melia couldn’t believe her eyes. She saw a massive room, full of lit up torches, pillars that reached the roof, and an altar at the end of the room. One of crimson red.

“Come on, let’s go” Bradamis said, looking down at Melia with a smile. The two of them entered the old room. Their footsteps echoed, filling the silence in the room. Melia stood back looking up at the pillars, fascinated by them. Once she stopped looking at them she noticed her Dad who was by the altar at the end of the room. She started walking over to him, wondering what he was doing. Once she found herself by his side she noticed he was drawing something in fire on the altar.

“What are you drawing?” Melia asked.

“Melia, can you stand back for a second?” Bradamis asked.

“Uh, yeah, sure” Melia replied. She took a few steps back and as Bradamis finished his drawing he looked over at Melia.

“Come here” Bradamis said whilst gesturing at her to come over. Melia moved forward to where her Father stood as he pointed at the picture he drew.

“What do you see?” Bradamis asked her. She looked down at the picture.

“I see a person on all fours on the floor but their face looks like it’s in pain and the Phoenix is towering over them, as if they are in control?” Melia said as she looked at the picture, trying to see if she missed out any detail.

“Close enough. The picture I drew here represents someone who gets the phoenix delivered to them as their familiar. Having the phoenix as your familiar can destroy you if you don’t hold control over and maintain it as if it was yours. That’s what it means to have a familiar you need a strong mind and soul to be able to control a familiars power otherwise the familiar will take over your mind and YOU, will lose yours forever to it” Bradamis said. Melia looked at the picture, even closer and could see what her Father was talking about.

“Melia, where do you think we are right now?” Bradamis asked her.

“Uh, well, we are underground in a sacred room of sorts?” Melia said.

“Yes, that is correct” Bradamis said. A silence filled the room whilst Bradamis lifted his shirt off causing Melia to look surprised.

“Dad?” Melia asked. Bradamis took his shirt off and faced towards her.

“Do you see this tattoo?” Bradamis asked her. She looked at the tattoo of a phoenix that was embedded into his chest, every single line was pristine and whole tattoo was finely made as if it was alive.

“Yes, I do” Melia answered.

“I was given this tattoo by the previous King on the day I found my path as the next King of the VEIL Kingdom” Bradamis said as he walked around the altar, Melia’s eyes following him around.

“What are you saying?” Melia asked. Bradamis placed his hands on the altar.

“When a man finds his path, the tattoo of his familiar is embedded into his chest. When a woman finds her path, the tattoo of her familiar is embedded into her back” Bradamis said.

“Wait, are you saying that you want to give me my familiar?” Melia asked.

“Melia, let me ask you this yet again. Have you found your path?” Bradamis said staring into Melia’s eyes. Melia looked down at herself and for a minute thought to herself ‘am I ready?’ before she looked back up at her Father with determination.

“I’m ready Dad” Melia said with conviction. Bradamis took out a silken robe that was under the altar. It should have been dirty and most likely ripped apart, but it was in pristine condition as the silken robe glistened in the fire.

“Put this on” Bradamis said handing it over to Melia. Melia took the robe and as Bradamis turned his body the other way he could hear the rummaging of Melia’s clothes as she put on the silken robe.

“I’m done” Melia said. Bradamis turned around to see that Melia’s smooth, alluring back was completely revealed to the naked eye.

“Good, then come lay flat on top of the altar” Bradamis said while smiling. Melia crawled on top of the altar and laid flat on her chest. Bradamis took out his book yet again and turned to the same page before.

“Is It going to hurt?” Melia asked.

“The process of giving you the tattoo is painless. However, once the tattoo latches onto you and embeds itself within you, you will have to fight back against the familiar and stand strong, but I will help you along the way” Bradamis said in a reassuring voice.

“Okay” Melia responded.

“I’m going to start the ritual now, you ready?” Bradamis asked Melia.

“Yes. I’m ready” Melia replied. Bradamis raised the book into the air. As his hands started to catch on fire, the fire spread to the book, enveloping it and allowing it to hover in front of Bradamis’s face. He now spread his arms out above Melia’s back.

“MAY THE PHOENIX RISE” Bradamis spoke the same words he spoke to open the large stone doors. As he spoke those words he placed hands onto the back of Melia. Melia could feel a imposing warmth enter her body, circulating through it all. As she opened her eyes she could see fire swirling around the whole room, enveloping it.

“THE PHOENIX SHALL BE ONE WITH YOU” Bradamis said as the flames he had formed on his hands started surging into Melia’s back. Melia could feel her Father’s flame completely enveloping her in them. Bradamis kept on pushing through, creating flames and sending them into Melia’s back, but he couldn’t believe his eyes. The patterns that were being created on her back were so finely refined and were being done with such elegance that it was as if an artist was there with him, painting on Melia’s back. The patterns had so much detail to them that he could see every edge and every curve magnificently from the beak to the wings, to the talons, everything was being created so elegantly. His eyes couldn’t break away from the magical painting that he was being shown. A circle of fire started to appear, surrounding two. The fire on her back started to burn more bright as the final few details were being created. The circle of fire that surrounded them started swirling violently eventually creating a tornado of fire that surrounded them completely. Sparks were flying everywhere as the shriek of a phoenix could be heard from within the tornado.

“It is nearly finished” Bradamis said. The tornado started turning more and more violently as the tattoo on her back was near finished. Then, once the tattoo was completed, the tornado completely evaporated into thin air. The blazing hot fire that surrounded them completely vanished, the shriek of the phoenix that they heard dissipated into thin air. As Bradamis stood back, exhausted, trying to catch his breath he saw Melia suddenly fall on the floor.

“URGH!” Melia fell on off the altar and onto the floor in pain, her tattoo was glowing incredibly bright so much that Bradamis couldn’t stare at it too long without going blind. He quickly ran over to her and kneeled beside her, holding her back but quickly backed his hand away as he felt the heat coming off of her back. It was as if someone put burning hot magma straight on her back.

“Melia sweetheart, listen to me. You have to fight it. It is trying to take over your body but I know that you are extremely strongminded, I know it!” Bradamis said. Melia looked up at her Father in tears due to the pain, clenching the ground. Bradamis put Melia’s hands on his arms so that she could clench something and he could feel how much pain she was in as the pressure he was feeling just from her clenching would have been enough to completely crush a boulder to nothingness.

“Come on Melia, you can pull through” Bradamis said worryingly. Melia was in so much pain that she couldn't speak or move from her place. She started seeing visions of a phoenix in her mind, fighting against her. Suddenly, she found herself enveloped in a white room looking up at a phoenix.

“So you are the one who wants to join hands with me?” the phoenix spoke, its mere presence was enough to make anyone tremble to their knees, but not Melia. Melia stood tall and proud in front of the phoenix looking up at it with conviction.

“Well, at least you have the guts” the phoenix said.

“So tell me, why do you want to join hands with me?” the phoenix said. Melia took a step forward towards the giant phoenix and stood sharp.

“I have found my path, and to follow it I need a familiar that would be willing to work with and accompany me on my journey” Melia explained proudly. The phoenix looked down at Melia, proudly.

“Hmm, so you want to follow the two Frostborne’s” The phoenix exclaimed. Melia jumped at what it said.

“Do you know them?” Melia asked.

“KNOW THEM? No god no, I’ve just heard of them from a few of my accomplices” The phoenix said.

“Oh, okay” Melia said looking down at the floor.

“I will join you on this path you have chosen since it intrigues me” The phoenix said.

“REALLY?” Melia shouted, excited.

“BUT, before I do join hands with you, I need to tell you something that my comrades have told me” The phoenix said. Melia looked up at it with curiosity.

“The two Frostborne’s, I say this lightly but. They are monsters. Their full power is something that of a god but they are not the only ones who possess this kind of power. Their enemies do as well, not many of them but nonetheless they also hold this power” The phoenix said sternly whilst looking down at Melia.

“Is that it?” Melia asked the phoenix, confused.

“What do you mean ‘is that it?’” the phoenix asked, surprised.

“I mean, I know they are monsters, I’ve seen what they can do close up and they still talked about this evil king as if he is more powerful than them so I understand that part” Melia said surprised. The phoenix looked at her with surprise, ‘who is this girl’ it though to itself until it diminished that thought.

“Okay Melia, you have proven yourself to me, I’ll allow you to control my power and whether you fully unleash is up to you” the phoenix said. Melia readied herself as the phoenix rose up into the air. The phoenix shrieked and soared straight at Melia who turned around and revealed her back for the phoenix. The phoenix launched itself straight into her back where it infused itself into her tattoo. Back with the Bradamis, Melia was stiff as a rock, her eyes glowing a bright red and her tattoo still gleaming like the sun. Suddenly, she stopped twitching, her tattoo stopped shining and her gleaming red eyes went back to normal. She opened up her eyes to see her Father by her side, on his knees waiting for her to wake up.

“Hey Dad” Melia said with a smile.

“Oh thank god, I thought I lost you there for a second darling” Bradamis said smiling, bringing his daughter into his arms for a hug.

“Alright, now that that’s over with, let’s get you dressed and you can tell me what happened” Bradamis explained.

“Okay” Melia said smiling. Bradamis stepped out of the room leaving Melia alone to get dressed.

“Your father is a good and strong man you know” a voice could be heard.

“Who’s there?” Melia said turning her head around to see who she heard.

“It’s ME, you dummy” Melia realised it was the phoenix talking to her.

“Oh, sorry, I didn’t know you could talk to me from my head, hehe” Melia said whilst laughing awkwardly.

“All familiars can speak to their host once they have established a bond” The phoenix said.

“OH, so we’ve already bonded?” Melia asked the phoenix.

“Yeah you could say that, for most it takes a long time for them to create a bond with their familiar but some, in rare occasions, can speak almost instantly with their familiar. Like you and me” The phoenix said. Melia thought about it whilst she was getting dressed.

“Wait. Why did you say that about my father?” Melia asked the phoenix.

“Oh I said that he is a strong and good man, your father” the phoenix said. Melia pondered at that thought and then smiled.

“Yeah, he is a very good Dad and I’m proud to be his daughter. Even if he isn’t my real father” Melia said.

“By the way” Melia said curiously.

“Do you have a name I could call you by?” Melia asked the phoenix.

“Hmm, well, If you so desire, then I shall tell you my name. My name is Averard the Royal Phoenix and I’ve been a part of your family for a long time” Averard said.

“Well then, nice to meet you Averard, my name is Melia Voydrick. Let's work together from now on” Melia said smiling as she put on the last piece of clothing she had on herself.

“Well then, let’s go Averard” Melia said to her companion. Melia left the altar room and walked up the stairs with her now new companion. As she got to the top of the staircase she noticed her father waiting for her at the door of the library, smiling. She walked up to him.

“Everything finished down there?” Bradamis asked her.

“Yep, everything is good now” Melia replied, grinning at her father.

“Well then, lets head out” Bradamis said. The two left the library whilst Bradamis closed the doors that lead to library by lock and key as well as locking the metal chains in place yet again. As they were walking back something peeked Bradamis’s curiosity.

“So, what did you see back then when you were on the floor?” Bradamis asked.

“I saw the phoenix and it talked to me for a good bit” Melia explained.

“Ah, I see” Bradamis said surprised.

“Why, was it different for you?” Melia asked.

“Yeah, you see mine one was a stubborn one and it didn’t want to listen to me so I had to fight in the end which took a long time. But an hour in my head was only like 3 minutes in the real world” Bradamis explained.

“Wow, yeah I don’t think I would want to fight my familiar just so they recognise me as their equal” Melia explained, surprised.

“Well it doesn’t matter right now, you know what you have to do, don’t you?” Bradamis asked.

“Yep, I’m going to go find them now” Melia said.

“Good girl” Bradamis said smiling. As they walked down the corridor they eventually ended up in the throne room.

“I’m going to go and find them now” Melia said sternly. Bradamis looked down at his daughter all proud.

“Yeah, you go do that, and if you need anything I’ll be here in the Palace” Bradamis said. Melia hugged her father tightly, then went to run to the Palace doors, opened them, waved back at her father.

“BYE DAD, I’LL BE BACK SOON” Melia shouted and like that she ran down the Palace stairs and for some reason her heart told her that she would find them atop the High Wall, so that’s where she ran to. She followed her heart to find her path.
