Chapter 4: The Conference Meeting

Chapter 4: The Conference Meeting

It’s the next day after the tournament fiasco and Malian was currently resting due to the seriousness of his injuries. Bradamis heard from the doctors that his ribs were completely wrecked, his stomach was heavily injured, his left arm completely fractured, a crack on his skull and a bruised leg and all that he could think was ‘that much damage from one solid kick’. Bradamis was sitting on his throne, pondering over what happened yesterday. He went through a rollercoaster of emotions with anger, annoyance, relief and much more. He sat there thinking ‘why did they come now of all times and what is their purpose?’ as he placed his head in the palms of his hands.

“Your majesty?” a butler asked him but no response. Bradamis was too focused on thinking about yesterday as if trying to make himself believe that nothing happened but all of it was way too real for it to be not true.

“Your Majesty” the butler spoke again, but yet still no response from Bradamis who was too embraced in his thoughts.

“Your Majesty!” the butler spoke even louder. Now, waking Bradamis from his thoughts.

“Huh?, what is it?” Bradamis asked as he looked up at the butler.

“Sir, with all due respect, I know that what happened yesterday might look surreal and you are having a hard time picturing it again but, Prince Malian has woken up” the butler said as Bradamis sighed.

“Good, then let me go see him and see how he is doing” Bradamis said, quietly, as he stood up from his throne and walked down the stairs, still trying to make sense of what happened yesterday. He hoped that he would get his answers in today’s conference, ‘Oh yeah, I forgot that I have a conference today with my colleagues and those two hooded figures, now that I remember one of them was a man. He had short, silver hair with deep blue eyes that stared into my soul’. As he was thinking about all of this, he suddenly found himself facing the door to Malian’s room. With one deep breath in and out he opened the door to see two doctors surrounding Malian as they were still treating him with healing vines that surrounded his whole body. Bradamis entered the room and walked around the bed that Malian was currently resting on. He looked down at his son who was lying there, tired and exhausted, and went up close to him.

“Hey son, how are you doing?” Bradamis asked. Malian opened his eyes to see that his worried Father was standing over him.

“Hey dad, I’m in a sorry state aren’t I?” Malian responded, weakly, looking up at Bradamis.

“Yeah, apparently you got hit the hardest so yeah no surprise there, but, how are you feeling, any pain or anything?” Bradamis said, concerned.

“You know, these are the moments where you sound more like a mother than a father with how worried you are over some small minor inconveniences” Malian said, weakly.

“Yeah, maybe” Bradamis said, smiling.

“But no, my whole body still hurts and I can barely move my legs and arms or even feel them to be honest” Malian said. Bradamis looked at Malian, concerned.

“You know it wasn’t your fault that I got hurt, my emotions got the best of me and instead of looking at what was happening in front of me, I saw two people who looked like enemies and attacked them which ended up with me in a bed now basically on life support” Malian said which made Bradamis smile.

“Yeah, I know it’s not your fault, my emotions also got the best of me. When I saw what that woman did to you all I could think of was how I wanted to get revenge on you and beat the two figures who dared to touch my son” Bradamis exclaimed, almost ashamed of himself.

“Its fine dad, when I attacked that man, the other figure appeared out of nowhere and suddenly kicked me. I couldn’t do anything, not because I couldn’t, it was because I was mesmerized by her eyes” Malian said.

“Her eyes?” Bradamis asked, confused.

“Yeah. At that moment I only caught a glimpse of them but what I saw, completely shut me off then and there. I couldn’t even move my body” Malian said, whilst smirking.

“What did her eyes look like, Son?” Bradamis asked, curious.

“They were a bright purple. A purple that shone so brightly that the longer I stared into them it was almost as if I was staring into the Void itself. An endless beauty held within a darkness where no light can escape from, it was as if time itself stopped the moment I held eye contact with her” Malian said.

“Yeah, I think I know what you mean” Bradamis said, agreeing with his son as he looked down at the floor.

“Hmm, what do you mean?” Malian asked, confused, looking at Bradamis.

“When I entered a rage state, I tried to attack the female figure that kicked you but her accomplice stepped in. When he took of his hood it was as if I was frozen in place before I hit him. Deep, dark, blue eyes. Silver hair with small tints of blue. They mesmerised me at that moment to the point that I forgot what I was doing this for and I only awoke the moment my fist encountered his” Bradamis said as he looked down at his fist.

“Wait, he caught your fist?” Malian asked, surprised.

“Yeah, as if it was just a normal thing for him. He just caught my fist with ease” Bradamis said, calmly. Malian didn’t know what to say because he had never heard of someone being able to catch his Fathers fist without taking damage, let alone just stand there and catch it with ease as if it was the most normal thing ever.

“What are you going to do now?” Malian asked, looking over at Bradamis.

“Well, I have a meeting with the council plus those two figures are going to hopefully appear and make sense of what is happening because honestly, I think I’ve become dumbfounded after yesterday and I have no idea what is going on anymore. The whole day started normal until that Zander girl appeared and then we had the whole fiasco with her. Then the hooded figure appeared, stopped Zander from hurting anyone, then you came in, another figure appeared and hurt you, I stepped in and got stopped almost nonchalantly and now here we are" Bradamis said, placing his head in the palm of his right hand.

“Yeah, it’s a lot to process isn’t it?” Malian asked, looking up at the ceiling.

“Yeah” Bradamis said. A slight moment of silence presented itself between the two.

“I should probably go get ready for the conference” Bradamis added.

“Yeah, you go do that dad, I would come but as you can see I’m bedridden currently” Malian said. A slight chuckle could be heard coming from Bradamis as he walked away and left the room. Bradamis slowly closed the door, but as he closed it he just stood there, staring at the door whilst holding the handle. ‘I wonder how the meeting will go, what do I ask those two, what will they ask me, how much am I ready to know about the world outside us?’ Bradamis asked himself until.

“Dad?” Melia said

“Sweetheart?” Bradamis responded, surprised.

“Hey Dad, how are you feeling?” Melia asked as she walked up to her Father.

“I’m feeling okay sweetheart. I just left your brothers room to check up on him but it looks like he is doing better now. The doctors are making sure he gets better but right now he is still unable to move due to the severity of his injuries” Bradamis said, looking over at Melia.

“Oh” Melia said, disappointed, as she held her right arm. There was a slight pause of silence between the two as they stood in the corridor staring at each other, the wind slowly chirping, the curtains swinging from side to side.

“Hey Melia, was it my fault that Malian got hurt?” Bradamis asked.

“What, no of course not dad, I also think that if Malian didn’t try to charge at the male figure then he wouldn’t have gotten hurt and then you wouldn’t have had to confront them. Besides when I locked eyes with the male figure, I saw a deep blue that was so cold that it, hypnotised me let’s say, into a trance.” Melia said, looking down at the floor, as if ashamed.

“Yeah, I know what you mean, I was like that too. But thank you Melia, thank you for telling me that, I needed that. Now, if you excuse me I need to head off to the conference hall where I have a meeting in half an hour” Bradamis said. He regained his composure and walked off in the direction of the conference hall but as he looked back at Melia he saw that she was, nervously, standing outside Malian’s room.

“Oh if you want to go see your brother, he is in there and I’m sure he would appreciate it if you visited him” Bradamis said as he walked off. Suddenly, Melia’s face lit up with joy.

“OKAY! Bye Dad!” Melia shouted at her dad. As he was walking down the corridor, he heard the door to Malian’s room open and Melia’s cheery voice as she entered his room. The doors closed and Bradamis left with a smirk.

“Okay, now that that’s over with, let’s go make sense of this situation” Bradamis said to himself putting on a stern face. He opened the door to the conference hall where a rectangular table covered in a dark red velvet tablecloth was presented with his chair at the far back. About 20 seats were filled with people such as the other three kings and also his accomplices. As Bradamis looked over at the table he saw two pure white candelabras placed on top of the table.

“Bradamis, are you gonna sit down?” King Luim asked, gesturing Bradamis to his seat. Everyone saw that King Voydrick had entered the room so everyone stood up and bowed down except for the other three Kings who had simply stood up, smiled and shook his hand.

“Gladly, if you don’t mind” Bradamis said with a smile. As he made his way to his chair everyone sat down back in theirs. Once Bradamis sat down in his chair everyone looked at him to see what he would say.

“So, does everyone know why we are here today?” Bradamis asked with a serious face as he placed his arms on the table. The whole room went silent which made Bradamis sigh.

“We are here today to talk about what happened yesterday which involved two figures who appeared out of nowhere and apprehended the dangerous figure in a matter of seconds, so if anyone has anything to say about the matter please do” Bradamis said. An accomplice on the right of Bradamis stood up from his seat.

“Your Majesty, if I might” The accomplice asked.

“Please, go ahead” Bradamis said, gesturing at him to continue.

“Your Majesty, with all due respect I think these two figures that you have described to us should not be trusted. I think they should be thro-“ before he could finish his sentence a noise could be heard from outside the conference hall.

“Excuse me, SIR, you can’t go that way, there is an important meeting going on in there!” a butler could be heard shouting something from outside the conference hall. The doors flung open with such force that they clashed with the wall. Two figures entered the room with the butler slowly behind them, sweating due to from what looked like running.

“Found it” the male figure said.

“Sir you can’t be in here, there is a meeting going o-“ the butler said, exhausted and out of breath.

“No don’t worry about it, I asked them to come here” Bradamis told the butler. The butler looked confused.

“If you say so, your Majesty” the butler said. He then turned around and closed the doors behind the two figures with a bang, leaving the two figures inside the conference hall. The male figure looked over at King Voydrick.

“Please. Sit” Bradamis said as he gestured towards the figures to sit at the chairs opposite to him. The male looked at the chairs and sat down, the female stood next to male figure. Bradamis thought about telling her to sit down but left it alone.

“First off all, I want to thank you two for apprehending that Zander girl the other day” Bradamis said.

“You’re welcome, we were just doing our job” the male figure replied.

“Now before we get started, can I ask the two of you to take of your hoods and tell us your names, because otherwise I can’t trust you” Bradamis said in a stern voice. The male figure looked over at the female figure and she nodded in agreement to the proposition.

“Alright” the male said, looking back at Bradamis. Everyone looked over at the two figures in anticipation as they started to remove their hood. Time around everyone seemed to slow down exponentially as they started removing their hoods. Bradamis was focused on getting any information he can from the two so when they both removed their hoods, Bradamis saw the same male figure he saw that day. Short, silver hair with a tint of light blue and deep, dark, blue eyes, but what caught his attention the most was the female figure. As she removed her hood he saw those black purple eyes that Malian spoke of. Long, black hair that was as dark as the night sky flew out of her hood with small lines of purple that made her hair stand out even more. Supple skin and deep red lips presented themselves in front of the whole conference to see as they all looked over at the two figures in astonishment and shock.

If you spot this tale on Amazon, know that it has been stolen. Report the violation.

“You wanted our names, didn’t you?” The male asked. Almost as if Bradamis was in a trance again, the males voice woke him up from it.

“Yes, please tell us your names” Bradamis said, looking intensely at the two figures.

“Very well then. My name is Marcus and I won’t tell you my last name because as you said before, I don’t trust you yet” Marcus said, looking intensely at Bradamis with his dark, blue eyes.

“Thank you Marcus” Bradamis said as he looked over to the female figure.

“Hello, my name is Amelis and as Marcus said this is all the information that I will tell you about me as I also, don’t trust you yet” Amelis said.

“Thank you Amelis. So, Marcus and Amelis, please tell me why you are here. What is your purpose in being here?” Bradamis asked. Marcus and Amelis looked at each other and nodded. Marcus looked back at Bradamis with a stern face.

“We are here to warn you” Marcus said, coldly.

“Warn us? Why?” Bradamis asked, curious.

“Have you heard of the Gamor Kingdom?” Marcus asked.

“Yeah but what about them. I thought that their King had hid himself away ages ago and that he has been in hiding ever since, leaving the other beings alone from his rule” Bradamis said, confused.

“I’m going to tell you about the real Gamor Kingdom and also why we are here, but it’s a very long story, are you sure you want to hear this, Your Majesty?” Marcus asked. Bradamis thought about it long and hard ‘do I really want to hear about what’s going on outside the Kingdom, what if the VEIL Kingdom isn’t as powerful as it used to be? What if my Kingdom is in danger?’ but he looked up at the two figures and saw who he was talking to.

“Yes, I do!” Bradamis said, forcefully.

“Okay then, I would recommend for everyone to get comfortable because this is a very long story” Marcus said. The whole conference got comfortable as they sat back in their seats. Marcus sighed before he started to speak.

“Okay, here we go” Marcus said.

“Then let me introduce myself and my accomplice over here again. My name is Marcus and the person over here is Amelis. Me and Amelis have come from a very faraway place, a place that has been deleted from the map since its destruction. The Sefh continent is where the Gamor Kingdom resides in but it’s also where King Gamor lives. You told me you thought that King Gamor was asleep and weak, on the contrary. King Gamor is currently stronger than ever but he is also building an army, an army so strong that if finished would be able to completely take over the world and it would make him so strong that no one would be able to hurt him, let alone touch him. His current armies are big, but not as big as he would like them, but that’s not the point. Each one of his armies is separated currently into 10 different armies, each one being controlled by a being called a ‘Commandeer’. There are ten of them and they are the strongest soldiers that he has personally trained and they command his armies. The lower the number of the Commandeer the stronger they are with number one commanding the strongest army that King Gamor could give them. Whilst ‘in solitude’ he has been able to unite with the other nations around his Kingdom, gaining their alliance and power. Now onto why me and Amelis are here” Marcus said, but Bradamis already felt overloaded with information. So many questions popped into his head but he knew he had to wait and let Marcus finish.

“Now that that is over with. I will tell you why me and Amelis are here in the VEIL Kingdom. I can’t say this in any better way but, one of these Commandeers is on their way over to the VEIL Kingdom right this instant. They might be here today, tomorrow or in two days’ time but what I do know is that King Gamor sent them over here so he could get a sense of the VEIL Kingdom’s power. I am here because I have a personal vendetta against King Gamor and I plan to get revenge so when I heard that one of his Commandeers was on their way over to the VEIL Kingdom, I had to interfere. I came here with Amelis to warn the VEIL Kingdom of the approaching Commandeer” Marcus said. Everyone fell silent at the information, looking down at the table that was in front of them.

“Can I ask a question” Bradamis asked, looking over at Marcus.

“Go ahead” Marcus said.

“That Zander girl yesterday, can I ask who she is, because, yesterday, it looked to me that you knew who she was” Bradamis asked, curious.

“Her full name is Zander Gail and she was the cousin of one of the strongest Commandeers in the Gamor Army. Seera Gail, Commandeer number four and an extremely powerful Covenant of Thunder user that can pulverise her enemies in an instant as well as move from one place to another in an instant if she wished to do so” Marcus explained.

“I see” Bradamis said, gently placing his fingers on his chin as he thought over what Marcus has said.

“You said ‘was’, what do you mean by that?” King Ishta asked.

“Oh yeah I forgot about that. Zander Gail is no more, I killed her personally” Marcus said coldly. King Ishta fell silent along with the rest of the conference after what they heard. He couldn’t fathom what he just heard. What terrified him wasn't the fact that Marcus had just said he killed the girl but he said it so coldly and leisurely as if it was normal for him.

“Look I need you all to understand something. Me and Amelis are seeking revenge against the King and we will do ANYTHING we can to make sure that he doesn’t get any stronger because if he DOES, then the whole world will fall into peril and will be under his rule with no one being able to go up against him, no matter how strong or cunning they are” Marcus said, urgently and aggressively. After letting out all this information, the whole conference fell silent. Everyone looked worried as everyone let their faces sink into the palm of their hands, trying to make any sense of the information they were just given.

“Could I ask your Majesty a question?” Marcus asked. Bradamis, trying to keep his composure, responded.

“Yes, of course, please ask away” Bradamis said, still shook.

“Could me and Amelis be left alone with you and the other three Kings?” Marcus asked. Bradamis looked around the room at the conference and looked at the other three Kings. The three Kings nodded in agreement so Bradamis looked back over at Marcus.

“Okay, may everyone except me, the other Kings and the two individuals leave the room” Bradamis said, sternly. Everyone looked as if they wanted to speak up but they knew that if King Voydrick asked them to leave, then they had to leave so the rest of the conference got up and left the room without a noise and closed the door behind them quietly.

“There you go, it is only us left ” Bradamis said.

“Thank you” Marcus said. The four Kings looked up at Marcus as he sighed.

“May I ask his Majesty to tell me how much he knows about Covenants?” Marcus asked.

“I know that each individual is born with an element that represents their Covenant and they can then train their Covenant, along with a weapon of their choice, allowing them to become a lot stronger but then there are people such as me and my friends here who are able to acquire a familiar and develop a bond with them allowing us to reach a different and stronger type of Covenant" Bradamis said.

“Okay, that’s what most people know about Covenants. What if I told you that there is something such as unleashing your Covenant?” Marcus said as he leaned back into his chair. Bradamis looked up at Marcus, confused and surprised.

“I wouldn’t believe you at first, but I’m curious. Tell me about this ‘Covenant Unleash’ that you talk about” Bradamis asked now curious.

“What your Majesty said was correct, but what people forgot is that you can build a bond with your familiar that is so strong that you can unleash a power that is even stronger. Of course there is an even higher level above that but I won’t get into that since it is very complicated and only a small amount of individuals in this world have been able to acquire it” Marcus said.

“Okay, I think I understand. So you are telling me that one of these ‘Commandeers’ is coming over here with their army so that they can test whether the VEIL Kingdom’s power will be an obstacle interfering with this King Gamor’s plan?” Bradamis asked, confused.

“Yes, what I said was true and they are currently on their way here, they could be here today or tomorrow depending on how long it takes them to get through the land of TEURU and over here to the VEIL Kingdom” Marcus explained.

“And you said that there is ten of these Commandeers, am I right?” Bradamis asked.

“Yes” Marcus responded, nodding his head.

“Okay, so let’s say this King Gamor sent over his weakest Commandeer, which if i remember correctly would be number ten. How strong is this weakest Commandeer compared to one of us?” Bradamis asked.

“If, from what I remember is true, then he is as strong as one of you if he hasn’t unleashed his Covenant. If he HAS unleashed his covenant then not even all four of you could put up a good fight against him” Marcus said.

“That bad, huh” Bradamis said as he leaned back in his chair thinking everything over.

“Can I ask a question?” King Luim said.

“Of course” Marcus responded.

“Can I ask how strong you two are as individuals and if you can fight against these ‘Commandeers’ of King Gamor?” King Luim asked. Marcus looked over at King Luim.

“I know it sounds a bit insane, but me and Amelis are exponentially stronger than even number 6 of the Commandeers. Someone like number 10 is nothing to us” Marcus said harshly.

“Okay, thank you” King Luim responded, surprisingly calm.

“I know that this is a lot to think through and you probably need time to think through all of this information that I have presented you with, but let me tell you this. Me and Amelis aren’t on anyone’s side, we are not some pawns that will be used to get rid of this threat to your Kingdom. If they do appear, we will not interfere until we deem it worthy to, that is all. Now then, if you excuse us, me and Amelis we will be leaving now” Marcus said as he stood up from the chair he was sitting in.

“Of course, thank you for telling us all this information but I need to think this over with my colleagues over here” Bradamis said.

“Of course” Marcus said. He opened the door with a squeak and as he and Amelis left the conference room the doors shut behind them with no noise. The four Kings were left alone in the conference hall, utterly speechless, trying to make any sense of what just happened.

“Does anyone want to say anything about what we just heard from the two individuals who were just there right in front of us?” King Voydrick asked as he leaned back in his chair.

“Bradamis my friend, I personally feel like we shouldn’t trust Marcus and Amelis. As much as I respect them for coming here and telling us this, how can we trust them when there is no proof about what they said” King Ishta said, concerned.

“I agree with Dyrra, Bradamis” King Enhant said.

“With all due respect Iluman and Dyrra. Me and Bradamis have personally seen those two in action, it may have been for a split second but that second was more than enough for me to know that those two are extremely powerful individuals” King Luim said, sternly.

“You can’t possibly think that what those two are saying can be true, right?” King Enhant asked, surprised.

“Tarroy is right, when I saw those two for that split second I could sense a power that was way above ours. At first I was extremely suspicious, but after that conversation I no longer am” Bradamis said.

“If you say so Bradamis. I’ll trust your opinion but I can’t NOT think that there is something suspicious about this. Like I’m still wondering ‘why now, why now of all times?’ you know?” King Ishta said.

“I understand your worries Dyrra, Iluman. But if what they said is true about this ‘Commandeer’ then we need to stay vigilant of the High Wall and make sure it doesn’t get torn to pieces otherwise the whole Kingdom will be vulnerable to enemy attacks and that’s the last thing I want. I understand that this could be a ruse created to make a distraction but trust me when I say this. If they wanted to destroy us and the whole Kingdom they could have done it by now with ease” Bradamis said, placing his hand on the table. His words resonated through the whole conference hall making the other Kings go quiet releasing a silence within the room.

“For now, what I would recommend would be to warn the guards of the High Wall that there might be a terrifying danger making its way towards us and that they should be on High Alert from now until the danger subsides” King Luim said, looking up at the other Kings.

“Okay, I will warn the guards myself” King Ishta said, earnestly.

“Good. If anything happens we will report to each other and make sure everyone gets evacuated to the underground city before a tragedy happens.” Bradamis said.

“That seems fair” King Enhant said.

“Good. Okay, conference meeting over” Bradamis said. The Four Kings stood up from their chairs to leave the room. Outside the conference room Marcus and Amelis were walking down the corridor, leisurely.

“Do you think they took it well?” Amelis asked, looking over at Marcus.

“Well two of them looked shook and the other two looked surprised at what I was saying. Well I would be too if that was what I was hearing from two people who suddenly appeared out of nowhere, took out some girl during a tournament and then spouted some ‘nonsense’ about the world outside, so I guess their reaction was better that I thought it would be” Marcus responded, looking back at Amelis.

“I hope they trust us otherwise we will have some more problems to face other than the Commandeer” Amelis said, concerned.

“It doesn’t matter to me what they think, we are just here to do our mission and that is to see how powerful number 10 is. I hope he puts up a good fight” Marcus said, hopeful.

“What, you want to take him on or something?” Amelis asked, surprised, as she looked at Marcus.

“Well if he as strong as I hope he is, then yeah, sure. But if he isn’t then you can have him I guess” Marcus said as he looked over at Amelis.

“Well thank you very much my dear brother, I will make sure to enjoy my time with him when we fight” Amelis said whilst smirking. The two laugh whilst walking down the corridor.

“Hello” Melia said. Both parties stop in their tracks looking at each other. Melia looked over at the girl besides the male figure and all she could think was ‘BEAUTIFUL!’. Melia looked at Amelis’s lustrous purple eyes and flowing black hair as she smiled back at Melia.

“Are you okay?” Amelis asked, smiling. Melia awakened quickly from her entranced state.

“Ye- Yeah! I’m fine!” Melia said, embarrassed.

“Were you two just in that room over there?” Melia asked.

“Yeah, we were just talking to the Four Kings” Marcus responded.

“So you spoke with my Father?” Melia asked.

“Yeah, we did, we spoke with King Voydrick” Amelis responded.

“Can I ask what about?” Melia asked, worried.

“Sorry, its confidential information” Marcus rejected her advance.

“Okay, yeah I thought it was but I just needed to ask you know?” Melia said in a shy voice. Amelis laughed a bit.

“Why are you laughing?” Melia asked Amelis, surprised.

“No its nothing, it’s just I thought that you would be trying to attack us after what we did to your brother and dad but you are a lot more relaxed around us than I thought you would be” Amelis responded. Melia looked down as if she was ashamed.

“The reason is because I know that my brother was in the wrong, as much as it hurts for me to say it. You two don’t feel evil, let’s say” Melia said smiling.

“Well that’s good that you don’t think of us as evil” Amelis responded, smiling.

“Amelis, we should probably head off now” Marcus told Amelis. ‘So her name is Amelis’ Melia thought to herself.

“Yes, of course. Well nice meeting you Melia, I hope we meet again in the near future” Amelis said whilst smiling.

“Yes, I hope so too” Melia bowed and sprinted off past the two individuals.

“Hey Marcus?” Amelis asked.

“Yeah” Marcus responded.

“Do you think she remembers us?” Amelis asked with a serious face.

“Well she obviously doesn’t but why should I care, what happened was a long time ago and to be honest, I’d vouch that if what happened that day didn’t, then we wouldn’t be in this position and this strong, now would we?” Marcus asked Amelis.

“No, you’re probably right. Should we go around the town then whilst we are waiting because I mean I don’t think we have anything better to do, now do we?” Amelis asked Marcus whilst smiling.

“No, we don’t” Marcus said as he and Amelis started wandering off into the direction of the Palace Doors. As they flung open the doors they lifted their hoods back over their heads and made their way down the stairs into the Kingdoms centre.
