Chapter 6: Amelis vs Dalavac

Chapter 6: Amelis vs Dalavac

Dalavac’s aura grew to exponential levels whilst facing Amelis due to his anger growing and growing to astronomical levels. Amelis, who was unfazed, watched on as Dalavac unleashed his full power.

“WATCH ME LITTLE GIRL, THIS IS THE TRUE POWER OF A COMMANDEER OF THE GAMOR ARMY!” Dalavac shouted whilst laughing. Dalavac charged at Amelis, creating a spear in each hand whilst also manifesting hundreds of spears around him that he launched towards Amelis. Amelis swiftly dodged them all with ease and jumped over Dalavac’s attack as if it was nothing.

“DON’T FUCK WITH ME!” Dalavac shouted at Amelis. Long, black tentacles started to home after Amelis as she ran away from them and swiftly dodged them all whilst still being attacked by the flying spears. Dalavac, seeing an opening of sort, flew at high speeds towards Amelis but Amelis saw this coming and whilst mid-air she flipped herself at such a high speed that Dalavac couldn’t comprehend what had happened. Amelis kicked him in the gut with full force, sending him flying towards the ground where he created another crater. As he picked himself up out of the crater he had created he fell to the floor, tired and exhausted ‘why am I so tired after only getting kicked twice by this girl, my darkness should be able to absorb her energy and transfer it to me but it’s not working on her’ Dalavac thought to himself. Dalavac noticed that the darkness that was protecting him was slowly breaking away with cracks appearing in the armour.

“You know that that kind of trick doesn’t work on me, right?” Amelis said as she walked through the debris that was created from the impact.

“What do you mean?” Dalavac asked, panting.

“What I mean, is that your Covenant of the Night doesn’t work on me” Amelis said with a calm voice. As Dalavac heard what Amelis said, he suddenly felt something he has felt before, long ago, when he was face to face with King Gamor himself. ‘FEAR!’, he felt fear for the second time in his life. ‘How does she know that I have the Covenant of the Night? No one should know about it except the other Commandeers and King Gamor himself’ Dalavac thought to himself as he looked up at Amelis with a terrified look.

“WOW, that really scared you huh?” Amelis asked Dalavac.

“How do you know my Covenant?” Dalavac asked as he stood up on his two legs, clenching his stomach in pain.

“It’s simple really, I know everything about you, the Commandeers and the rest of the Gamor Kingdom” Amelis calmly told Dalavac.

“How? Who, are you?” Dalavac asked as Amelis started grinning.

Melia managed to make her way down the High Wall and onto the battlefield where King Voydrick was with King Ishta.

“Dad, what’s happening?” Melia asked as she ran over to Bradamis.

“Well, we got help is what happened” Bradamis said as he looked over at the fight ensuing in front of his eyes. Melia stopped in her tracks as she looked over at Amelis, currently talking to a beaten up Dalavac. As both Melia and Bradamis looked over at Amelis they could see that she was whispering something to Dalavac’s ear. At that moment the both of them saw the most terrified and horrified look they have ever seen on a person’s face. A look of pure terror was captured on Dalavac’s face to the point that he couldn’t even look into Amelis’s eyes and he fell onto his knees.

“How, HOW?” Dalavac asked Amelis.

“Really. How are you still surprised after everything you have seen?” Amelis asked Dalavac.

“That’s not possible, THAT’S NOT POSSIBLE. THERE IS NO WAY THAT YOU WEREN’T KI-“ Dalavac was cut short by another kick from Amelis straight into his gut which made him cough up even more blood. At that point, the armour around him that was shielding him completely left him and only his original body was left as he was kneeling on the floor. His arms were bleeding and an unbearable pain that was left with him from the three kicks into the stomach which meant he couldn’t even stand up anymore and was left simply kneeling on the floor whilst trying his best to look up at Amelis who stood tall and mighty.

“I’m not done, not yet” Dalavac whimpered, weakly.

“Speak up” Amelis said, coldly.

“I SAID I’M NOT DONE JUST YET!” Dalavac shouted as the power from before returned to him, completely healing him and repairing any damages he had taken. Amelis backed off and took a fighting position.

“LETS END THIS YOU LITTLE BITCH, ONCE I KILL YOU ONCE AND FOR ALL THEN I WILL KILL YOUR PARTNER AS WELL!!!” Dalavac yelled out into the world creating a resonance that travelled far. His dark aura completely covered him from head to toe, his eyes burnt a black colour as the aura seeped out, his wings were now even bigger and looked a lot more real than the last time he activated them, his claws grew bigger and the pool of darkness surrounding him grew even larger.

“THIS IS ME AT MY STRONGEST SO YOU BETTER NOT DISSAPOINT ME LITTLE GIRL!!” Dalavac shouted as he flew at even faster speeds now than before at Amelis. Now hundreds of dark bullets started chasing Amelis, homing in on her as she jumped into the air where the bullets followed her along with Dalavac who spawned hundreds of spears and threw them all at Amelis who was in mid-air.

“DIE!!” Dalavac shouted as he soared towards Amelis with his wings. Amelis, still calm and collected, dropped towards the oncoming slaughter of bullets, spears and Dalavac

“YES THAT’S RIGHT ACCEPT YOUR DEATH, YOU KNOW THAT THERE IS NO WAY OUT OF THIS SO JUST ACCEPT YOUR DEATH!!” Dalavac shouted as he saw Amelis plummet towards his deathtrap. Amelis whilst mid-air simply destroyed each and every bullet and spear with her bare hands as she plummeted towards the face of the earth where Davalac was stood, speechless. As she landed on the earth she got into a stance resembling that of an animal with her arms and legs on the floor.

“AHHHHHHHHHHHH, DIE! JUST DIE, DIE ,DIE ,DIE!!!!“ Dalavac shouted as he spawned more hundreds of thousands of bullets, spears and tentacles which all homed in on Amelis’s position.

“I’LL KILL YOU MYSELF!!!” Dalavac shouted as he shot straight at Amelis, conjuring a spear in each hand yet again and pulling them back getting ready to pierce through the body of the girl standing in front of him. Everything that Dalavac had conjured was closing in on Amelis at a very rapid rate but as he got closer, he felt the space around him slowing down and turning rough.

“Since this is the final time we are going to meet, I’ll personally show you something beautiful” Amelis said. ‘what does she mean, ‘this is the final time we are going to meet’, does she think I’m some sort of joke or is she finally realising that she is going to die by my hands’ Dalavac pondered. Amelis raised her right hand and reached behind her back where Dalavac saw a weapon being conjured. ‘A SCYTHE!’ Dalavac couldn’t believe it, he saw Amelis holding a black scythe that was as long as her whole body, the head of the scythe was a dark purple that radiated beautifully with the main front blade itself being a dark black colour, the whole way down the scythe a purple ring could have been seen gleaming gorgeously. As he looked even closer, he saw that the main blade of the scythe was placed inside the gaping mouth of a dragon's skull coloured in purple and black with its eyes replaced by two pearl white gems that glowed iridescently and a third eye, coloured in a crimson red colour. Behind the dragon's skull was the back blade but it was split in two and it had melded itself into the wings of a dragon that had come to life, the wings were small in comparison to the scythe but they were coloured a striking purple and every time they flapped they air around them started pulsating violently. He could sense the danger as Amelis’s weapon conjured into life, she raised her head and Dalavac could see that her eyes also lit up a terrifying colour. actually there was no colour or just too many of them. As he stared in her eyes, it was like he was staring into space itself, an amalgamation of colours was presented in front of him and he could not do anything about it.

“THE VO-“ Dalavac couldn’t finish his final words as Amelis rushed forward and with just from one slice of her scythe she cut through all of his dark apparitions at once and also, simultaneously, was able to cut through all of Dalavac’s dark armour as if she was slicing butter. ‘What happened to me?’ Dalavac thought to himself, as he looked around he could see his lifeless body stood up. ‘Ah, my head was chopped off cleanly, so this is the end’ he thought as he watched his lifeless corpse fall onto the floor. Amelis suddenly walked over to Dalavac’s head on the floor.

“You fought well Dalavac, but you were weak for someone as strong as me so you never stood a chance in the first place” Amelis said to the head of Dalavac. All of the light that was left in his eyes suddenly faded away and his body started to dissipate into darkness leaving not a shred of evidence behind and like that the battle between the VEIL Kingdom and the 10th Commandeer ended in the victory of the VEIL Kingdom.

“That was quite something you know?” Marcus said to Amelis.

“What are you talking about, that was nothing” Amelis said as she turned around now with her scythe gone.

“Yeah I know it was but still, he put up a good fight at least. It was very entertaining” Marcus said whilst smiling.

“Well I’m thankful that you were entertained by his struggle” Amelis said. Marcus grinned as he walked up to Amelis and gave her a head pat. Amelis and Marcus looked over at the army that Dalavac had brought over with him and as they looked on they saw that the darkness that surrounded them disappeared, letting the animals go free. The Wyvern that Dalavac flew on, started snarling at Amelis but as she reached for her scythe again the Wyvern got scared and flew off.

“Come on. Let’s walk back to the High Wall and lets go meet your spectators” Marcus said smiling. Amelis smiled as well as she dispelled her scythe from her hand and they walked back in the direction of the High Wall where Bradamis and Melia were stationed along with 5 doctors who were trying their best to try and heal King Ishta from his injuries as he was sat beside the High Wall.

“Looks like the fight is finished” Melia said standing next to King Voydrick as she looked back at Amelis and Marcus.

“Yeah. Finally” Bradamis said. The two looked over at Marcus and Amelis slowly walking in their direction. Bradamis went back to check up on his friend whilst Melia kept on staring at the two individuals slowly getting closer and closer. ‘WHY DID YOU LEAVE US’ Melia fell on the ground from pain as her head kept on pulsating a message into her brain ‘WHY DID YOU LEAVE US!’ she kept on hearing in her head.

“Melia? MELIA!” Bradamis saw his daughter on the floor in pain and ran over towards her.

“MELIA, ARE YOU OKAY!” Bradamis said, concerned.

“I. DON’T KNOW WHAT’S HAPPENING TO ME, IT HURTS”. ‘WHY DID YOU LEAVE US!’ the voice inside her head kept on getting louder and louder. Marcus and Amelis noticed that Melia fell on the floor and rushed over to see if everything was okay.

“Is she okay?” Amelis said.

“I DON’T KNOW WHAT’S HAPPENING TO HER!” Bradamis said, worried about his daughter. Melia fell on all fours onto the floor as she started seeing visions of when she was back in the prison nightmare and as she looked up, she saw Bradamis talking. Shouting. But she couldn’t hear anything. She looked over at Marcus and Amelis, standing next to each other and as she looked at them she saw visions of the two little kids replacing them, back and forth between reality and the nightmare as if they were standing there. As the visions became even more painful and more frequent she started seeing that her vision started becoming blurry, the screams of the people became louder and louder.

“STOP IT!” Melia shouted and screamed but her pleading wasn’t heard and the pain became even more unbearable. The guards shouting, the prisoners screaming, the two little kids in front of her bleeding from the eyes and nonstop chanting of ‘ITS ALL YOUR FAULT’ kept on ringing inside her head.

“STOP IT!!” Melia kept on shouting, tears started forming around her eyes causing them to become bloodshot. Her whole body started shaking violently from the pain and exhaustion.

“STOP IT!” Melia screamed.

“MELIA!” Bradamis yelled. Melia’s vision suddenly turned to nothing, she faded into the darkness as she fell onto the floor, unconscious.

“WAKE UP!” Melia shot out of her bed in a cold sweat, panting heavily.

“Good Morning” Melia looked around to see that Marcus and Amelis were inside her bedroom, Amelis stood beside the door whilst Marcus was sat down on a chair, legs crossed, next to her bed.

“Sleep well?” Marcus asked. Melia looked over at him with a worried look on her face.

“Yeah, I guessed that would be your response. Right let's get to the point, what did you see?” Marcus asked as he leaned forward on his chair. Melia gulped as she tried to become brave. She breathed in and out trying to relax, to become calmer. As she closed her eyes and breathed out she opened them yet again and spoke.

“I saw a prison covered in fire that was so big that it reached the clouds, being melted to the ground. There were guards, shouting, laughing maniacally to kill the prisoners. I heard the screams and cries of all the prisoners, pleading the guards to spare them but they were killed in the most brutal and horrifying way possible. They were prisoners trying to fight back only to get slaughtered. The skies were dark, covered in the colour of red as the ashes of the fire spread through the whole sky. I was sat down in ash and silt. I couldn’t move, shout let alone speak” Melia said as she tried to comfort herself by wrapping her arms around her shoulders and stomach. Marcus kept on looking at Melia, hoping to get more answers.

“What else did you see?” Marcus asked. Melia looked at him once again and continued.

“I saw two kids, a boy and a girl wrapped in dirty cloth that seem to have been ripped to shreds. The little girl was standing behind the boy, I could see that her eyes were completely slashed leaving her blind, her legs were bruised, and her right arm bleeding, full of injuries. The little boy had his left eye completely taken out leaving an empty socket to look through, his right arm and right leg were cut in many different places with what must have been a sharp blade, his stomach was bruised to the point of being purple completely and the look on his face was one of pure anger and hatred. Hatred for what he was seeing but also so he could mask the pain that he was feeling” Melia finished her memory of the nightmare. As she looked up she saw that Marcus and Amelis were both unfazed by what she said which confused her because no one would be able to keep a straight face after what she was saying. As she looked at them again she noticed something, they looked similar for some reason to the kids in her nightmare but she also felt that they felt familiar to her as if she knows them, but how? Melia kept on staring at them profusely trying to work out what she was seeing in front of her. Then, as she realised, her eyes widened to the core, her jaw dropped, tears started running down her face as she said.

“You’re the kids from the nightmare. Aren’t you” Melia asked as she looked back at Marcus and Amelis, wide eyed. Marcus sighed as he looked up at Melia.

“Yes. We are the kids in the nightmare, but what you saw wasn’t a nightmare, but a story. Melia” Marcus responded. Melia twitched as she heard her name being spoken yet again and the only thing she could think of was.

“How do you know my name?” Melia asked. Marcus stood up and looked at her.

“Meet me and Amelis outside the High Wall where the battle took place. If you come then I will gladly answer all of your questions” Marcus said. Amelis opened Melia’s bedroom door and the two of them left the room, closing the door behind them, leaving Melia to sit in silence by herself, contemplating what the next best course of action would be. Melia got up out of her bed and got dressed so she could leave her room. As she walked down the corridor of the palace thoughts started springing into her mind about what she would ask Marcus and Amelis ‘Why was I there?’, ‘What happened back then?’, ‘Who were those people?’, ‘Why did you tell me ‘it’s all my fault?’’. As Melia pondered over her thoughts, her tummy started rumbling.

“I must be hungry” Melia told herself as she held her stomach. As she made her way over to the dining room she noticed how quiet it was, the wind blowing though her hair. She walked over to a window in the corridor where she witnessed the Kingdom below her, full with the people she loved and adored.

“Princess Melia?” A maid said. Melia jumped as she heard her maid speak.

“Ah yes?” Melia said.

“Breakfast is ready if you are hungry” the maid said.

“OH. thank you” Melia answered. The maid hurriedly left Melia alone to dwell on her thoughts. After a while, Melia carried on walking down the corridor as she felt that her hunger was starting to affect her thoughts. As she entered the dining room she saw her dad and brother sat at the table. Waiting. As they saw Melia enter the room the two of them jumped up from their seats and rushed over to her and hugged her.

“Are you okay Melia, tell me you are okay” Bradamis asked, worryingly.

If you spot this tale on Amazon, know that it has been stolen. Report the violation.

“Yeah I’m fine now, don’t worry” Melia answered as she was cushioned by her family warmth.

“How long was I out for?” Melia asked. Bradamis and Malian looked at each other.

“For a week” Malian answered. Melia’s face went from smiling to all of a sudden one of pure shock.

“Wow, a week?” Melia said in disbelief.

“Yeah, the doctors spoke to us about it and they said that it would take about 3 weeks for you to wake up but then Marcus and Amelis stepped in and told me that they will keep you company, that it won’t take 3 weeks for you to wake up but 1 and that they will make sure that you wake up” Bradamis said. Melia looked surprised but she trusted what her father said, wholeheartedly.

“I saw them leave your room just know, what did they tell you when you woke up?” Malian asked.

“They asked me about what I saw that day and that if I want answers to my questions then I should meet them outside the High Wall where the battle took place” Melia answered. Bradamis and Malian looked at each other worryingly and looked back at Melia.

“Are you going to go see them?” Bradamis asked, but as he asked Melia, the look of disappointment that presented itself on her face changed to one of curiosity. Melia moved away from her families warm embrace and looked up at them.

“There is something about Marcus and Amelis that tells me that if I ask them a question they will know the answer. It’s the same with that whenever I look at them I sense a feeling, a feeling as if I know them but have forgotten. I have many questions that need to be answered otherwise my soul will not be able to rest upon this hill that I am creating. Ever since they have appeared I’ve been having these visions of a girl and a boy and me staring at them. Whenever these visions appear my brain starts screaming at me creating an unfathomable pain that I can’t bear anymore to feel. So yes, I’m going to go find them because I need answers” Melia said in a serious voice. Bradamis and Malian both could see the dedication in Melia’s eyes so all they could do was smile.

“Alright then, you go ahead and go get the answers you are looking for” Bradamis told Melia. Melia’s face brightened up as a massive smile was put on her face.

“THANK YOU!” Melia shouted. She jumped up and down and ran straight out of the dining room as fast as possible.

“Hey Dad?” Malian asked.

“Yes” Bradamis responded.

“Do you think she will find out?” Malian asked.

“If she does then it means it is finally her time to know” Bradamis said. The two looked at each other, concerned.

“Right, should we eat?” Bradamis said whilst clasping his hands together.

“Yeah, let's eat Dad” Malian responded as the two of them moved towards their chairs and sat down to eat breakfast. Melia started running through the Kingdom, inching closer and closer to the High Wall, running past shops, houses, large buildings and the lot. Many people said ‘hi’ and ‘good morning’ to Melia as she ran through. As she arrived by the High Wall she walked over to the guards.

“HI” Melia said.

“Oh, hello princess Melia, how can we help you?” the guard asked.

“Can you let me through for a moment?” Melia asked the guard. The guard looked at her confused and then he realised.

“Oh, are you the one they said to meet outside. Oh yeah I gotcha now. LIFT THE GATE!” the guard shouted up at the people up on the tower. The guards, in haste, started pulling on the metal wheel on either side of the Gate. As the guards pulled the squeaky, metal wheel the gate lifted off the ground exposing the underneath and as the Gate proceeded to lift, the view that was kept from most was revealed.

A beautiful and lush landscape filled with greenery from grass to trees, from golden wheat to vegetable farms, animals were running amok with birds tweeting, cows mooing and dogs barking. As she stepped outside onto the open fields she could feel the wind flowing through her hair setting it free, the fresh smell lightened up her surroundings and the ever bright sun was gleaming down on the ground. As she kept on walking she noticed Marcus and Amelis standing in the middle of the fields.

“So, you decided to come” Marcus said.

“Yeah, I’m here for answers” Melia said. Marcus moved forward towards Melia closing the gap between him and her.

“Okay, then go ahead, ask away” Marcus told Melia.

“Can I ask who you two are first of all, like, who you REALLY are?” Melia asked.

“I will answer that question in time but not right now” Marcus responded. Melia looked disappointed but she thought that that would be the answer.

“Okay then. What was that prison in my dream?” Melia asked.

“The prison you saw in your dream was a prison that was held in the Gamor Kingdom. A prison so violent that no one ever escaped from it no matter how hard they tried. That was the prison that me and Amelis were stuck in” Marcus said. Melia was surprised that his emotions didn’t change as he was speaking, she was expecting anger, hatred but all she got was that she saw someone who is calm and collected. She saw two people who have been attacked and tortured their whole life so much that whenever they talked about their past experiences, they felt nothing, just emptiness.

“You got any more questions?” Marcus asked

“Was I there, with you and Amelis, in that prison?” Melia asked

“Yes, you were there with us in that prison” Marcus told Melia.

“But HOW? I don’t remember any of it, how can I not remember ANY of it!” Melia said confused and frustrated.

“I don’t know how, when you were taken in you must have had your memory completely wiped due to the trauma that it had caused” Marcus said.

“Taken in? what are you talking about?” Melia asked.

“Melia, I will tell you something that might make you angry at us or someone else but when I say this, know that I am speaking 100% the truth” Marcus said.

“What? WHAT IS IT? Melia raised her voice at Marcus as he sighed.

“You, are not King Voydrick’s daughter” As Marcus spoke, Melia fell completely silent, the world around her yet again seemed to have slowed down.

“No. That’s not. True” Melia said silently, tearing up.

“That can’t be true. THAT CAN’T BE TRUE. MY WHOLE LIFE I REMEMBER BEING HERE WITH DAD AND MALIAN LOOKING OVER THE BALCONY OF MY ROOM DOWN AT THE KINGDOM AND ALL THE CITIZENS. I REMEMBER AS A CHILD I WAS PLAYING WITH OTHER KIDS AND I WOULD BE TRAINING WITH MALIAN! IT CAN’T BE TRUE, I DON’T BELIEVE YOU!!” Melia shouted at Marcus whilst he stood there taking it all in. Tears started running down Melia’s face, she looked back at the Kingdom she lived in in disbelief. She started running back to the Kingdom

“Where do you think she is going?” Amelis asked.

“To find more answers most likely” Marcus said. Melia rushed through the gate of the High Wall, tears running down her face.

“Princess?” the guards shouted confused but Melia didn’t care, she wanted to get to the Palace as fast as possible, she jumped over carriages, ran through puddles on the cobble floor, pushed through people helplessly rushing through following a small line that she saw that pointed her in the direction of where she will get her answer. As she arrived at the Palace stairs, she sprinted up them without a faintest clue of what she will do when she sees her father ‘can I even call him that?’ she thought to herself as she ran up the stairs. She pushed open the Palace doors as fast as humanly possible and ran straight into the throne room. There he was. King Voydrick, the person she knew as her Father this whole time. Bradamis looked down onto his daughter, panting and full of tears. He knew she found out and with a look of concern he made his way down the stairs from his throne to the passage where Melia was currently standing. As they faced each other Melia opened her mouth.

“Is it true? Am I NOT your daughter?" Melia asked, still weeping. Bradamis looked down at Melia, disappointed, but not in her, but in himself. He couldn’t stand seeing his daughter cry as if the whole world that she knew and loved has suddenly flipped on over her head and that everything that she ever knew, NOW, made no sense to her.

“Can everyone leave except for me and Melia?” Bradamis said. All the butlers, maids, and associates left the room leaving Bradamis and Melia alone in the throne room. Bradamis gave out a deep sigh before continuing.

“It’s true, you are not my real daughter Melia” Bradamis said, Melia knew that she was expecting that answer but she didn’t know it would hurt her this much, she felt a pain so excruciatingly painful that it couldn’t compare to what she felt on the battlefield. Her heart stung, she felt like she might throw up any second, tears were oozing out of her eyes, she clenched her now hurting heart with both of her hands as she curled forward.

“WHY? WHY DID YOU KEEP THIS FROM ME!” Melia shouted at Bradamis.

“I’m sorry sweetheart but I had to, it hurt me to not tell you, but, I couldn’t” Bradamis said.

“WHY!? WHY COULDN’T YOU TELL ME THIS AND WHEN WERE YOU GOING TO TELL ME THIS HUH! AFTER HOW MANY YEARS WOULD YOU HAVE TOLD ME THIS OR WERE YOU COUNTING ON SOMEONE ELSE TO TELL ME THIS OR I HAD TO FIND IT OUT MYSELF. WELL!?” Melia raised her voice. She slowly got closer and closer to Bradamis.

“I-“ Bradamis said

“TELL ME! TELL ME WHY YOU KEPT THIS FROM ME! DOES MALIAN KNOW AS WELL?, WAS HE IN ON THIS AS WELL? WHY WOULD YOU KEEP ME IN THE DARK FROM THIS!!” Melia shouted as she crept on closer and closer.

“WHY!!”.

“BECAUSE I WAS SCARED!!” Bradamis shouted. Melia realised that this was the first time in a while that Bradamis shouted at her or Malian so she kept quiet as her father raised his voice. Suddenly, tears started dropping from Bradamis eyes as he clenched his fists.

“I was scared that I would lose you, like I lost my wife many years ago. I wanted to. So, so, so badly but the mere thought of you leaving me and Malian terrified me so I kept on pushing it back, further and further until when I was ready” Bradamis spoke up in a calm voice whilst Melia stood still, shocked, at what her father was telling her.

“It was never about me waiting until you were ready for me to tell you, it was about me waiting for myself to become prepared for the consequences that I would face from telling you. So I never told you due to my fear of losing you. That’s why I never told you” Bradamis said in a quieter voice as he let go of his clenched fists. Melia still shocked and surprised, stood still, waiting for her father to finish.

“You may not be my real daughter Melia, but I know that in my heart, you are my daughter and I will never stop loving you no matter what happens from this day forth. You will always be my daughter, Melia” Bradamis spoke up. Tears were streaming down both Melia’s and Bradamis’s eyes now as she ran over to hug her dad and be embraced in his warmth.

“DAD!” Melia shouted as she hugged her father as tightly as possible, crying into his chest. Bradamis crouched down and hugged his daughter back as tight as he could without hurting her, tears were pouring out of his eyes.

“You will always be my daughter, no matter what, do you hear me?” Bradamis whispered into Melia’s ears.

“Mhm” Melia whimpered. As the two were hugging it out, Bradamis heard footsteps approaching them. As he looked up he saw Marcus and Amelis, standing there with smiles on their faces. He smiled back at the two. As if the three spoke to each other telepathically Marcus and Amelis left Bradamis and Melia together and walked out of the Palace closing the doors behind them.

“What are we going to do now?” Amelis asked.

“We’ll wait until she is ready and she has reconciled with her Father. Then, we have a talk with the her and the Four Kings in the throne room. Hopefully” Marcus said whilst they are walking down the Palace stairs.

“Should we walk around town then for now?” Amelis proposed.

“Yeah, that sounds nice” Marcus said as they started walking around the city’s centre.

“After we leave the VEIL Kingdom, are we going to go meet up with Jason or are we just going to leave him and go straight to the Adela Continent?” Amelis asked.

“Well Jason said he was going to go to the Gongonova Mountains at the far top of Teuru. He said something about how by the time he reunites with us he will be someone who will be worthy to stand beside us. Some stupid shit like that” Marcus said.

“What? I seriously don’t understand that man sometimes. I told him that he is a part of the family and now he went off somewhere, saying that he isn’t worthy of us. He’s so weird, I swear” Amelis responded, confused and frustrated.

“Did he say why, exactly?” Amelis asked, looking over at Marcus.

“Not really, but if I had to have a shot at it, I would guess that by the time he comes back to us he might have unleashed his Covenant and had mastered it” Marcus said.

“Well if so, then thankfully it’ll mean we won’t have to do everything again unlike last time with those horrible Yuips” Amelis said in disgust.

“Why do you hate those Yuips so much?” Marcus asked.

“really? You’re asking ME why I hate those Yuips?” Amelis said in disbelief.

“Yeah, I really want to know” Marcus said, holding a straight face whilst looking at Amelis.

“Alright, take a goblin but it’s taller, can speak in its own language, has poisonous spikes on the heel of its feet, its face is all tattooed up with weird emblems, they live in clans with the skin colour changing depending on the clan from red to green, blue and even black sometimes and what did I miss. OH YEAH and it shoved two fuckin horns into its head. That’s why I hate Yuips” Amelis exclaimed, sarcastically.

“Yeah, I see it now. But hey, at least they are not as strong as us otherwise that would be too much of a pain, especially in groups” Marcus said, pondering.

“See what I mean, they are horrible creatures. Also they stink, like really bad, even worse than Jason” Amelis said.

“HEY. Jason didn’t stink that bad” Marcus said, shocked. Then out of nowhere Marcus’s stomach started rumbling, embarrassing him. Amelis chuckled.

“Let’s go find somewhere to eat because I’m starving” Marcus said, embarrassed.

“Yeah, me too” Amelis responded, smiling. The two started walking through the cobble path streets and as they looked around they saw children playing with each other, dogs licking other dogs, adults working in their shops. As they were walking by, Marcus spotted a family in the window of a house. A family made up of a mother, daughter and son. The three were happily dancing and smiling together as the mother was making food, the little boy was at the dining table sitting down and the little girl was by her mother’s side curious as to what she was doing.

“You coming?” Amelis said to Marcus as she tapped him on the shoulder.

“Yeah. I’m coming” Marcus responded. As they were walking down the cobble path they encountered the centre fountain. The silver fountain glistened in the sun whilst water was coming out of the head of phoenix that was standing proud and tall with its wings unveiled. The two stared at it for a moment before continuing on their journey to try and find food. As they encountered upon a small tavern, they walked inside and saw that it was mostly packed downstairs so they ventured upstairs where there were open seats. The two sat down and waited.

“What do you think will happen now that she knows about her father?” Amelis asked.

“To be honest, I don’t know. But what happens, happens I guess and we move on. Besides we can’t stay here forever we need to move forward, the latest by tomorrow night” Marcus said. A waiter suddenly appeared.

“Hello, welcome to the Green Hour, what would you like to eat today may I ask?” The waiter asked.

“Could me and my companion just get soup of the day, please” Amelis said.

“Of course, just wait for me here and I’ll be back shortly with you and your meals” the waiter said as she wandered off.

“Soup of the day huh” Marcus snickered.

“It won’t be that bad. Hopefully” Amelis responded. As they chatted amongst themselves the waiter shortly came back with their meals. A some sort of broth was put in front of them with bread.

“Enjoy” the waiter said as she walked off. Marcus and Amelis picked up the wooden spoons they had next to them and started digging into their broth.

“This is surprisingly good you know” Marcus said.

“See, told you it would be worth it” Amelis said. As they finished up eating they went downstairs, paid for the food and left.

“Should we walk back now to the Palace and see if everything has been sorted out?” Amelis asked.

“Nah, since we are leaving tomorrow, let’s wait till tomorrow and then tell them everything once they have everything sorted out between themselves” Marcus said.

“If you say so” Amelis responded as the two of them started walking back towards the High Wall. Back in the Palace, Melia was now in her room looking outside the window, watching the sun set as it hid itself away behind the horizon and allowed the moon to show itself for the first time in what seemed like forever. Melia soon tucked herself into bed and blew out the fire in her lantern, swallowing the room into darkness as she placed her head on her pillow and snoozed off into the night. Over at the High Wall, Marcus and Amelis were sitting down on the edge of the High Wall, facing the open fields and looking up into the starry, cold night.

“What are you thinking about?” Amelis asked. A slight pause presented itself between the two.

“Do you think she will want to come with us along for our journey?” Marcus asked.

“I don’t know. Does it bug you?” Amelis said.

“No not really, but I guess it would be nice to have another person come along with us, and she does have the potential to become strong” Marcus said.

“I’m with you on that, she has the potential to become someone who is strong and confident in themselves, I can see it in her eyes. I can see her desire for power but not for the wrong reasons. She wants power so she can protect her Kingdom and the people she loves” Amelis said.

“Yeah. Hey Amelis, do you think mother would have been proud of us?” Marcus asked. Another moment of silence intruded itself into the conversation. Amelis put her right hand on Marcus’s left shoulder to provide comfort.

“Yes, I think she would have been proud of us. If mother was still here she would say something like ‘You two went through so much pain and so much hurt, but you still came out of it as good people and that is all I could ask for from my two little, feisty bears’ or something like that” Amelis said. Marcus chuckled

“Yeah, she did call us ‘her little, feisty bears’ didn’t she” Marcus said as he laughed. The two of them started snickering before they went back to normal.

“Do you wish we could go back to that life?” Amelis asked.

“I do. But right now, we can’t. As much as I want to, we don’t have the ability to go back to that life, not until this is all over. Once we have finished our task, THEN, we will be able to go back to that life once and for all” Marcus said whilst clutching Amelis’s hand who looked up and smiled at him.

“Right. Let’s go to sleep, we have a long day tomorrow” Marcus said as he stood up and lied down on the concrete floor where he put his blanket. Amelis joined him soon after and the both of them went to sleep with the moon shining, glistening, on their backs.

In the morning, Marcus and Amelis stood up and walked down to the Kingdom where they made their way to the Palace. They pushed the doors wide open and as they entered they noticed the Four Kings already inside the throne room as if they were there already waiting for them. Bradamis stepped away from his fellow Kings and walked over to Marcus and Amelis.

“Morning, Markus and Amelis” Bradamis said with a friendly voice.

“Morning, King Voydrick” Amelis said with a smile.

“Can I ask, for what reason you are here today?” Bradamis asked.

“Your Majesty may I ask you to gather all your acquaintances as well as Melia and Malian. Me and Markus have something very important to talk to you about and we would like to do it pronto if we could” Amelis said. Bradamis looked at the two and simply smiled.

“If it is as important as you say it is, then I shall make time for it” Bradamis said casually.

“Roud, can you please go find 10 of my acquaintances as well as Melia and Malian and inform them that I will be meeting them in the Throne room along with the other fellow Kings as well as some special guests?” Bradamis said.

“Of course, Your Majesty” Roud said as he walked off into the main corridor.

“So, do you want to make yourselves comfortable?” Bradamis asked.

“Yes please, Your Majesty” Amelis responded.

“Very well. Dyrra, Tarroy, Iluman, we have two special guests who want to share some special information with us. Let us take our seats in our thrones and wait for the rest of the party to arrive” Bradamis said.

“Very well” King Luim said. The three of them took their appropriate throne and sat down.

“I will also go now and take my seat” Bradamis said.

“Very well, your Majesty” Amelis said. Bradamis walked over to his throne and sat down. Eventually, Roud came back with 10 acquaintances, Melia and Malian. They all saw the Four Kings in their throne and saw that Marcus and Amelis were also here. As everyone took their place in the throne room, Marcus and Amelis both kneeled in front of the Kings.

“You may rise” King Ishta announced. As he said that, both Marcus and Amelis raised their heads and stood up in front of the Kings. As Bradamis looked over at the two, he smiled at them as he saw the conviction and the seriousness in their eyes as they stood up, Tall and Mighty.
