Chapter 91: Dungeon

Chapter 91: Dungeon

Lugo clapped his hands together. “So, we should definitely get moving.”

“You’re goin to turn tail-and-run? There’s a fookin treasure chest right in front of us!” The red hair picked up a few of the old human bones off the ground.

“And you’re going to go get it now are you?!” Lugo yelled.

The man smirked and tossed the bones throughout the place to find a loophole. Tossing it high, spears shot through the air, straight to the other wall, but sliding it on the ground, nothing happened to the bone. It slid safely a distance away.

“Easy-peasy!” He and the other six began to crawl on the floor, keeping their head low.

One of the men had lifted his head to see where he was going and the blade came screaming across the room, cleanly slicing his skull at an angle. His brain matter slid out and onto the pool of blood that gathered on the floor. Half of his eyeball slid out and plopped onto the floor like a soaked ball of parchment.

The other adventurers froze and watched the lifeless body of their buddy.

“Keep goin’!” The red haired man yelled.

“And you say these guys are experienced?” Lugo muttered to Max.

“Experienced? Yes, but I didn’t say they weren’t stupid greedy bastards.” Max covered his face in embarrassment.

A sharp slicing sound rang through the air. Spikes emerged out of the ground and impaled one of the other adventurers, freezing the rest of them in their place.

“Fooken piece of shite!” The red haired man was now unsure as he pondered his next move. "Drune!" He called. "Crawl to Volk’s and test out a safe place!"

"Fuuuck!" A man with bright green hair griped, and proceeded to crawl toward the body of the man in the spikes.

Careful not to crawl too far so the spiked would get him too, he pulled out one of Volk's weapons and slid it across the floor. The sharp ringing of spikes rang through the air again. Launching the weapon high into the air. As it landed, it triggered the response again and again until it stopped responding about three meters in front of them. Drune then proceeded to lift Volk’s leg into the air, the blades raced back over and in seconds, showering him with blood.

Crawling up a little more, this time Drune lifted Volk’s arm, but nothing happened. Drune waved the arm through the air, and once he reached the just beyond Volk’s waist, the blades sliced through the air and the fingers were severed, dropping to the floor like bloody chunks of turd.

“I think I found the window!” Drune called out.

“Good! Now stand!” The red head yelled.

Drune mumbled angrily under his breath and aligned himself perpendicular to Volks body. With a shaky breath he clenched his eyes shut and slowly pushed himself up onto his knees. Opening his eyes, he exhaled in relief to see that he was still alive and in one piece. Closing his eyes, he held his breath again and stood to his feet. “Yes!” He exclaimed loudly. “J’agen! There’s only a very small window, so you have to be very careful!”

The story has been stolen; if detected on Amazon, report the violation.

The rest of them made their way into position, each of them holding their breaths as they stood onto their feet. Only after their loud cheers did Tsugi realize she too was holding her breath with them.

“Idiots.” Lugo mumbled. “And what are you going to do now?” He screamed. “You going to jump three meters across the spikes?” Crossing his arms on his chest he mumbled, “dumbasses.”

J’agen scratched the stubble on his chin and looked around, pondering what to do. He walked over to wear Volk's was and picked up his body, and tossed it into the middle of the spikes. The spikes quickly rang through the air and impaled the lifeless body, extending an extra few centimeters above the surface.

The rest of the adventurers quickly understood the plan and crawled back to retrieve the dead body parts, dragging them to the spikes, and leaving behind a trail of blood and guts. Throwing them to make a path, they smirked haughtily at Lugo before stepping onto the bodies and jumped across to the other side.

They whooped loudly as they gazed upon the chest that sat in the middle of the room. Tsugi and the others only looked on, with anticipation and waited as J’agen approached.

Sliding his hand across the surface, his eyes gleamed with greed. He pushed the chest open and a loud roar shook the whole mine. Ruzo, immediately crouched over, taking a defensive stance, his eyes locked upon the chest. The doors slammed shut behind and the ground rumbled as though a volcano were about to explode beneath their very feet.

A giant hand reached out from inside the bottomless chest and grabbed J’agen by his torso, with one squeeze, his eyeballs popped out of his head, and his gut burst out of his mouth. It was as if his intestines had inverted themselves and were now hanging from his mouth. The hand released him, dropping his lifeless body to the floor.

The other adventurers with him ran screaming, but died either by the spikes or the blades. Out from the chest came another arm as the creature pulled itself out. Its arms were long, lanky and slimy, similar to that of a maggot with the way it wriggled as if it had no bones. Next out was a head, but no face, not even a mouth. Instead, it looked like a giant puckered anus that continued to contract as if it was about to let out a big one.

Then a long skinny neck with a creepily disfigured body that sent a chill up their spines. Its body contorted oddly and bone like projections protruded from its joints in a weaponized fashion. It fully emerged and stood onto its feet, standing taller than Ruzo. It held out its open hands in front of it and in its palms were blinking eyeballs, one in each palm and one on each fingertip. Loud clicking of metallic locks rang through the room.

The eyeballs gazed around and reached over to pick up J’agen. It’s belly opened up into a giant gaping mouth, lined with millions of razor sharp teeth. It tossed the J’agen into its belly, chomping on it with glee, blood dripped down its belly as it let out a satisfying grumble. It meandered around and picked up each of the bodies lying on the ground.

The defense system had been disengaged so they no longer worked.

“Naiagamyt.” Lugo muttered. His eyes widened with deep fear. “RUN!” Lugo placed his hand on the ground to open a door, but he was too slow. The creature bounded across the room, straight for Lugo.

Ruzo latched onto the creature's leg and pulled in the opposite direction, yanking as hard as he could. It threw back an elbow, piercing the bone jutting out of its elbow right into Ruzo’s scruff. He let out a loud yelp, but he only clamped on harder, growling angrily this time. Ruzo pushed his grip in fuller and pulled harder, dropping the creature onto its knees.

Tsugi swung her dagger through the air and severed the creature's arm, releasing the bone from Ruzo’s neck as it dropped to the floor. The naigamyt threw its head back in a loud roar, waving its hand around to find the source of the person that caused it pain. Blue blood oozed out of its severed arm, squirting spurts onto the ground.

As its many eyes found Tsugi, waving her swords in the most elegant dance that she does, the muscles and tissues on its severed arm stretched and crawled from the severed orifice, like wriggling worms and connected to its arm lying on the ground. The worm-like muscles tightened and pulled the arm back up, reattaching itself firmly to the base.

“I hate regenerating monsters.” Tsugi mumbled, swinging her daggers into the defensive forcefield, slowly advancing toward it.

Ellie climbed onto Ruzo’s back and placed her hands on him, healing the wound on his neck.

Maki and Aylin launched flames and bullets of water at the creature. It raised its arm up in defense, but the attack barely left a scratch on it. If anything, it only seemed more angry.

Tsugi severed the creature's leg, dropping it on its hands for support, shaking the room as dust and debris fell from the ceiling above them. Ruzo still held firmly onto the other leg, grounding it in place as best he could. The muscles began to wriggle out to reattach again, but Tsugi minced the appendage into little pieces before it could even reach it.

It roared out in anger, its eyes locked onto Ellie and Ruzo. Pissed, it reached its eyeballed hands at them. Tsugi swung her dagger as fast as she could to sever its arms again, but it parried her daggers with the bone jutting out on its elbow. The dagger wrapped around the bone, and the creature tugged on it, throwing Tsugi across the room, slamming her into the wall. The wall broke explosively and sent out a cloud of smoke.

“You fucker!!!” Lugo yelled, pulling out the daggers that Tsugi had gifted to him. His eyes flared and his aura was murderous.
