Unfortunate pt. 1

Unfortunate pt. 1

Like the teacher recommended, Diarem went to the hospital to check and register his magic. Normally there are big lines for this but William pulled some strings and made it happen the next they after he saw Diarem use his magic.

“Please put your hand on the crystal.” Said the Doctor.

Crystal didn’t react to Diarem's touch. Usually, when crystals detect magic it changes color and possibly show particles of that magic like flames or electricity.

“Are you sure you have a magic boy?” Asked the Doctor.

“Of course, he can! I have seen him breathe fire!” Said, William.

"I know you wouldn't lie to me William but crystal doesn't feel anything."

"Could I ask you to use some kind of magic on me, doctor?" Asked Diarem.

"Sure... If that helps somehow..." The doctor moved water from the glass and wrapped it around Diarem’s arm like a bandage. Diarem used the same magic and transferred the water bandage to his other arm. The doctor was surprised at first. While that happen the crystal started glowing blue and in the crystal appeared a few water drops. It only lasted for a few seconds and disappeared.

“So you're a water magician? But why didn't it react earlier?" Said, the doctor.

"Wait? Water? He breathed fire... Can you use more than one element?" Asked William.

"But crystal would show something else besides the water..." Said, the doctor.

"Could you bring someone with different magic? It might clear up some things." Asked Diarem.

"Yeah... I'll get someone."

This tale has been unlawfully lifted from Royal Road; report any instances of this story if found elsewhere.

Another doctor zapped Diarem and when that happened crystal began to glow yellow and a bolt of lightning was visible in it. The doctor was amazed and shocked at the same time.

"You must be a specialist!" Said, the doctor. Diarem looked at the doctor with confusion on his face and asked.

“What is a specialist?”

“How old are you?” Asked Doctor

“Seventeen”

“How on earth after living in the magic world for seventeen years you never heard of a specialist?!” Said the Doctor with disappointment.

“Well I heard someone saying it but I don’t know what it means.”

“Ok. I’ll explain. Specialists are the magicians with unique magic that haven’t been registered or there are no more than a thousand magicians like that.”

“Oh… So my magic is rare.”

“Yes, It is. Could you wait for a few minutes? I need to check records.” William amazed by Diarem didn't even notice the doctor leaving.

“Where is the doctor?” Asked William.

“He is going to check some records for my magic.”

William walked to Diarem, grabbed him by the shoulders, and said.

"Told you that the world isn't against you. All you needed was to wait."

The doctor walked to the room with the folder. In this folder, there were only two pieces of paper. One had information about magic and another piece of paper got information about the user of that magic.

“Looks like you’re the second one with 'Nemesis magic'. Your magic is as rare as the magic of our generals.” Said, the doctor.

“Who was the first?” Asked curious Diarem.

“Let me see… Lativ Omni… that’s an unusual name. All it says is that he could use magic thrown at him. No specific information since he wasn't tested."

"What do you mean?"

"He was a bandit or something and this information is from witness and police." After registering Diarem's magic they went to the car to go home.

“Diarem? How about celebrating your magic awakening? It's very special for magicians. Usually, it's celebrated much earlier but you know... You can invite your friends. Make it memorable.” Said, William.

Diarem looked at William with joy and said:

“Thanks, dad.”

In front of Diarem’s house, there was Charlotte, Jasmine, and a not-so-tall man with a bald top on his head. He wears a monocle and from his grey suit’s pocket sticks out a golden chain from his portable watch. When Diarem and William approached them man stepped out and said:

“You’re Diarem I presume? I didn’t have time to thank you personally for saving my daughter and I’ve heard that your magic has awakened recently. Thank you and I wish you all the best.”

Diarem and Jasmine’s father shake hands. Jasmine gave Diarem a white cake with strawberries on top.

“Since you all came here… Why don’t you celebrate with us?” Asked William.

“I can only stay for coffee. How about you girls?” Said Jasmine’s father.
