Life and Death pt. 3

To the Monlo Police Department walked a tall man wearing a black and red coat with fur at the edges. He has short dark hair lining on the right side of the head. On his coat, he has hooked the silver star. Under his coat, he has two katanas attached to his belt. One is in the red scabbard and the other in black.

A police officer approached him and saluted.

“Sergeant Simon at your service, General.”

“At ease officer. Just call me Diabolo.”

“Yes sir. Those are the files you asked for.” Said Simon as he gave files to Diabolo.

“Diarem Wilson, age 17, magic until 17- no sign of magic. Now... Nemesis Magic. Same as this… this terrorist Lativ O… Om… Omwai! that’s right! We found his body like a month ago. No trace of magic on his body. Like it was devoured by something.”

Diabolo browsed the rest of the documents.

“No criminal activities for him…”

“Sir! He was seen yesterday in the casino fighting Philip Taylor. Boss of some assassins group.” Said Simon.

“You know why?”

“From what we heard from witnesses he was defending someone.”

“Interesting… After awakening his magic he immediately fights against top dogs… I can relate to that! Are you able to assign someone to watch him?”

“I think there might be a few good agents that could keep an eye on him.”

“Ok. Get me a copy of his files and I’ll be going. There is still so much to do but almost no time.”

Diabolo left the police station. He was going to his hotel on foot. Someone with a purse ran past him. He heard a woman shouting “Thief! Someone stop him!”

"Finally something to do." Whispered Diabolo.

The thief tripped to the ground as he tried to stand up something was holding his legs. When he looked there were black chains wrapped around his legs and slowly wrapping around his chest and arms. Diabolo picked up the purse and said:

“Do you like purses or something? And pink to that! Huh… man! You’ve got weird taste.”

Diabolo walked to the woman and gave back her purse. She thanked him. Meanwhile, the thief tried to roll his escape but Diabolo grabbed him.

“Looks like I’m going back to the police station… right after I said goodbye…” Said Diabolo as he dragged the thief wrapped in chains on the ground. It was fast action but so many people saw this and were still watching as he dragged that thief.

As usual, after school Diarem was visiting his dad at the hospital. When he entered the hospital he felt like something was wrong with this place. No one was by the reception. Actually, he didn’t see anyone outside too. Normally there were at least a few people inside.

His dad’s room was on the third floor. On the way to the third floor again, Diarem didn’t see anybody. The doors to his dad’s room were already opened. As he slowly approached them, he saw his dad standing by the window. William tried to say something but Diarem didn’t hear it. He took a few steps forward so he could hear him better. When he looked at William, he noticed that he was shaking.

“RUN!” Shouted William.

Diarem looked behind and in the doors stood Mark with a crooked smile.

“Long time no see… KID!” Said, Mark.

He removed his eye patch. His left eye turned red.

“You sure got stronger… I can’t even move you with red-eye…” Said Mark and gasped.

Stolen from its original source, this story is not meant to be on Amazon; report any sightings.

“Oh… I wanted to kill your father with your hands but it looks like I need to do it myself.”

Mark blinked and his eye turned black. He moved a table that was by the bed and pushed Diarem from the room with it. When Diarem tried standing up, two men grabbed him. Diarem couldn’t use any ability because they used pure strength to keep him.

“First you attacked my man in school. Then fight in the warehouse and yesterday in the casino. You’re getting on my nerves.” Said Mark as he grabbed a revolver from his pocket.

“One, two, three, and four for humiliating me. Four bullets in a six-round revolver.” Said Mark as he reloaded a revolver.

Mark kicked William. He fell to the ground. Diarem yelled at him to stop. Mark shot William four times in front of his son. On was an empty shot. Diarem was still yelling at him and now started crying. Mark put his revolver on Diarems head.

“There are two possible ways that this will end... I fire and u die with your father or this shot will be empty and u will live without your father.” Said, Mark.

He slowly pulled the trigger, and rising tension was felt in the whole room. There it was, an empty sound of a revolver clicking.

“Khm… lucky…” Said Mark and knocked out Diarem with his revolver. Before he passed out he crawled a few meters to his dad’s body.

“Don’t… Die… On me…” Diarem passed out while he tried to hug his dad covered in blood and tears.

It was a cloudy gray day. At the cemetery, the priest said his prayer for the dead William. Not many people were at his funeral. His only family was Diarem and his servants, Elizabeth and Helen. Everyone one by one placed flowers on his grave and prayed to him.

The only person that didn’t done that yet was Diarem with golden tulips. He couldn’t pull himself together. Before Diarem moved he saw someone placing unusual black roses. When the person turned around he saw his face. Alex walked to Diarem and grabbed his shoulder.

“The more time you’ll take the more it will hurt. I know it’s not the best time to say this but you need to decide fast. ”

After a moment of hesitation, Diarem placed golden tulips on his father’s grave. No matter how hard he tried he couldn’t look someone else in the eyes. He clenched his fists and after inhaling, he said:

“Without magic… my life wasn’t happy. With magic, it was better for some time but it’s worse than it ever has been. What it made… it made it worse. I’m too weak… all… all I could do is watch… watch my father DIE! Magic didn’t make me stronger. I’m weak like I always have been.”

Diarem was still mumbling about his magic. Alex punched Diarem into the face so he would stop talking.

“You’re standing after my punch… that means… you are strong!” Said Alex.

Diarem finally looked into Alex’s eyes. He could see how serious Alex is at this moment he wasn’t this serious even during the fight.

“And you can be stronger.”

“Take me to Hans. Like the other… Now I have a reason to join.”

They both left the cemetery by the east gate.

Meanwhile by the west gate of the cemetery stood Diabolo with someone that looked like a young flat chested woman. They were listening to what Alex and Diarem are talking about.

“Hans? It must be Hans Godly. Boss of dead gang Black Roses. Keep a close eye on him especially when he is with the gang.” Said Diabolo as he was leaving the cemetery.

Diarem barges into the bar and kicks his way into Hans’ office. While he was doing that Alex tried to peruse him that he doesn’t need to be so harsh but Diarem ignored him.

“Now! I have a reason to join your gang!” Shouted Diarem.

Alex was standing behind him in shock and thinking:

“Is that all? All time he looked so angry but that’s all he says?!”

Hans looked into Diarem’s eyes, he sighed and said:

“Maybe you have a reason but you don’t know how much this will change your life. If anyone from other gangs would know that you’re a member of Black Roses they might attack you. Dirty job just for the money. Sometimes you will take others’ lives. That is part of what you can expect. This is other side of the world that you’re used to. So do you still intend to join us?”

“Yes.”

“Ugh… Fine. Under one condition. You can't attack red hats without order or outside your turf.”

“...Okey… I accept your conditions…” Agreed, Diarem but he was very annoyed by these terms but he accepted because there were no other options in his eyes.

“Welcome to the Black Roses gang Diarem. Since you’re a new member tomorrow we will test your abilities.”

Diarem left the bar and came back as fast as he could. Despite his father’s death he still lives in a mansion. William’s good friend took over the company. He pays bills for Diarem and gives him an allowance. At least until Diarem puts his life in order.

Helen and Elizabeth still lifes In the mansion as workers. Elizabeth works the same as usual but Helen started slacking off a little bit. Basically, after almost every supper she gets drunk. She is still not over William’s death. Diarem came back when Helen made dinner for the three of them.

“Mr. Diarem are your clothes still suit you?” Asked Elizabeth.

“Now that you ask, I think not. They got a bit tighter.”

“I’m glad to hear that! Then I’ll go shopping tomorrow.” Said Elizabeth with a smile on her face.

Elizabeth was the one who chose clothes for Diarem and William. She also wanted to choose clothes for Helen but she would sell the most expensive ones or use the ugly ones for fire in the kitchen

“Oh! And by the way, tomorrow I’ll be going to be tested for my new job.”

“Work? What kind of?” Asked Helen as she stopped cleaning the plate. She wanted to start a conversation so Elizabeth wouldn’t notice that she didn’t clean them ‘perfectly’.

Diarem didn’t think that over. He couldn’t say to them that he will work for a gang. After a moment of stressful thinking, he said without any hesitation “Guard!”

“You? Guarding? Funny. But your magic is unique and more like defensive type or something so maybe but I’m not some kind of strategist.” Said Helen.

“Congratulations on finding a job master. Just don’t forget about studying… Okay?” Said convincingly Elizabeth as she slowly clapped her hands.

“Kind and hardworking maid is only a mask for a demon!” Thought Diarem and Helen as they were surprised by what Elizabeth said.

Fortunately, they didn’t ask questions anymore about his job. Before super Diarem trained some martial arts that he used to train when he was younger. Unlike then, now he feels like he will need it very much. It was a northern martial art named Tokon mainly focused on counter-attacking with fists and elbows. He wanted to train more but rest is also an important part of training.
