In the world of magic lived one boy that was different. His name is Diarem. He is the adopted son of millionaire William Wilson. It's normal to not have any magic but he was the only one in his school. For that, he got bullied. His father often tried to show that life can be beautiful even without magic. You don't need both hands to enjoy your life although it would be nice to have them both.
The worst subject for non-magicians is P.E. Most sports in Splendia were based on magic so Diarem couldn’t take part in most of the games. Whenever the teacher decides to play a game without magic the whole class would be mad at Diarem just because he was born like this. It looked like it didn't bother him that much but he was only putting on a face to don't make things worse.
One day, after school, when Diarem was heading home with his head down, three kids from his class stood in his way. He ignored them and walked past them but they didn't block his path for no reason.
“And where do you think you're going?” Diarem stopped and looked at him. The boy tried throwing a rock at Diarem with his magic. The rock was flying directly at his head but somehow before impact, it flew to the side and missed Diarem.
“It was just a... warning shot!” Said the kid as he was surprised that he missed. He had problems with aiming but not in such a short distance.
“You’re pretty bad at using earth magic for a magician.” Said sarcastically Diarem without hesitation. The boy raised another rock and came closer. Before Diarem could run the other two kids grabbed him.
“I won't miss from this close.” Said the kid and punched Diarem into the stomach with a rock. The boys left Diarem who was curled up on the ground. To make things worse it even started to rain. When Diarem opened the door to his mansion, a maid with long blond hair and pure blue eyes welcomed him.
“Let me grab a towel for you. Sir.” Said Maid.
“No need for that, I just need to change my clothes… Thanks for asking miss Elizabeth.” Diarem answered. Before he entered his room William saw him and said:
“Why are you so wet? Didn’t miss Elizabeth pick you up from school”.
“I wanted to take a walk home. Didn't know it was going to rain...” Said Diarem and closed the door to his room.
A couple of hours later when Diarem was studying he heard knocking at his door. He ignored it. Once again there was knocking but this time after the knocking someone opened the door. It was William.
“I didn’t say you can come in.” Said Diarem while still focusing on homework.
“I know but if you are ignoring me Why can I do the same?" Said William and smiled at Diarem.
“So what do you want?” said Diarem.
”Would you like to change schools next year?” William asked calmly.

“Why do you ask?” asked confused Diarem.
“Well… I know what is happening in your current school so I found the school perfect for you. I know you’re still excited about magic so there is a school where classes are equally made of magicless and magical students.” said William
Diarem froze for a second. He had one thing in mind. Is my life going to change? No... Why would it? It's only a different school... that's all.
“Fine.” Said Diarem without any other word but truly inside he was thinking that his life will change now.
It was a bit hard for Diarem to go sleep after an emotional day. The next day Diarem was getting ready to go out.
“Mr. Diarem would you like me to drive you to the school?” Asked Elizabeth
“Maybe next time. Today I need to buy some school materials.” Said Diarem while he was putting on his shoes.
“At least take this umbrella with you. I don’t want you getting wet again.” Said Elizabeth while giving an umbrella to Diarem.
“Ok, I will. Thank you.” Diarem took the umbrella and left.
It was a very cold November compared to the one from last year. Yet there was no snow. Diarem looked at the address on the note. “Cliff street 87” is the address of the shop but Diarem read it wrong and he stood at Cliff street 97. He looked around but he didn’t see any shops on that street. He looked again and noticed that he read it wrong. The shop that he was supposed to go to was on the other side. He saw an alley between two houses that probably lead to the street with this shop.
When he walked into the alley he saw 3 men wearing red suits in the middle of the alley by the wall. He decided that he will just pass them. They looked like some businessmen taking a smoke break. But looks can be deceiving.
Behind Diarem appeared a tall, well-built blond man with a white shirt and black vest. His right arm was in bandages. When 3 men saw a blond guy they immodestly blocked the path. They didn’t notice Diarem.
“Could you let me through?” asked slightly hesitant Diarem.
One man stepped aside, giving him a clear path. When Diarem was passing the 3 men, one of them shouted at a man with a black vest.
“You got lost or something?! It's red hats territory!”
“I'm not lost... I'll get lost if you don't let me through. So why don't you move aside!?” Said a man in a black vest and threw a fireball at them. One of them blocked it with his fire magic. Another man grabbed Diarem and took him as a hostage.
“You better stop or you will harm a kid.” Said the man and put Diarem in front of him as a shield.
“As if I care. I don't even know this kid...” Said the man in a black vest.
“WHAT?! But I'm still a living person!” shouted surprised Diarem and started wiggling to escape.
"So what about it?"
The man in black pulled out a revolver and pointed it at the kid. Diarem closed his eyes expecting the worst. The man fired 3 bullets while directly pointing at him. In mid-air, bullets changed route and hit two red hats in the head and one of them in the leg. Diarem got free.
“Runaway till you can, kid.” Said the man in black still pointing the gun his way. Diarem immediately started running away. He was so scared that he passed the shop where he was supposed to pick up materials for school.
“Oh yeah! Materials! I need to take them fast! I don't want to face that scary guy again!” Diarem turned and ran toward a shop wherein a hurry he picked up and paid for the materials.
The whole day in school and at home, he was wondering why they grabbed him and who was that “Blondie with a black vest.”
"Speak up... What are the Red Hats up to?" Asked the blond man as he pointed a revolver at the only one left of red hats.
“Can’t talk or something? Fine. I guess you’ll never will.” Said the blond man as he pulled the trigger and the loud sound of a shot traveled through the district.
