Well this is long and kind of boring.
Grim mentally chuckled, For you maybe.
You think they are all enjoying themselves?
I think, you dislike meeting and talking to people. I think you also don't care at all about political shenanigans. Jack on the other hand was constantly testing you with questions. Amani was trying to be nice without giving away too much. Martin seems to just be shy or not aware.
I caught the testing part, just didn't know why until he grabbed Martin. Amani was just being smart, don't give away more than you need to.
Right, you recognize what they're doing, you just see yourself as above it all.
I don't know that I see myself as above it. I just don't see the point.
Sure, not above it but, they're all thinking about their cities and what's best for them. You just don't care at all, you let Noah deal with that stuff. So you don't bother.
I also don't enjoy it. It's a pain in the ass.
Fair enough. Some people, like Jack and Amani I suspect, enjoy it.
I just want to go evolve and work on getting stronger. Fight things, find cool treasures, invent things, explore and discover. If you want something from me, be direct.
To each their own. You might want to interact a little bit though. There is some value in these people. They are more or less the best of the best in the world. If you need a sparring partner, these are the people I would look to.
I know. Hopefully I can convince Martin to work on a plane so we can set up trade and transport. It would also be a good enchanting project.
You sure you have time for that?
I don't want my profession to fall behind. Need to make some time to work on things like that.
You could always just keep making magical weapons, that should level you just as quickly.
I guess. This is a more interesting project, a richer experience. At least I hope it will be.
Ok, then I was wrong, in that case, it's not a waste of time at all.
What do you think about the vote?
I don't think it matters. Just vote however Noah tells you or sell your votes to gain favor.
I'll just listen to Noah then.
The next hour or so, until the vote, Felix sat in the room for Atalus juggling mana and practicing his spell formation. Just to be safe, he only crafted harmless spells so there was no risk of The System thinking might attack someone. A half hour or so into him waiting and practicing, Nova returned to his side and begged for attention. Noah, Will and Alan had all returned at some point after that after having socialized, made friends and brokered deals with others in the meeting. They told him briefly about Ashok, the leader of Lav'Gur, the other desert city. Their interpretation of the leader was that he seemed like a nice guy but was a little too prideful, or at least that was Noah's impression.
He was seemingly convinced he was the strongest in the room and was even slightly offended when no one knocked on his panel to meet him. When he did reveal himself, apparently he made everyone sit across the table from him and asked them what he could do for them, as if he had all the cards. The only other somewhat interesting thing to happen was Will and Alan telling Felix about Han, the old man leader of Coastwatch. He was essentially a battle crazy pirate, sailing around to find things to fight. He didn't care at all about any of the ‘political crap' but was more than willing to play cards with Will and Alan. At the end of the hour, everyone was presented with a screen.
World Council
The vote is for whether or not the restricted settlement founding period should continue for another 4 months or not. There are 65 votes in attendance. You may cast each of your votes as you wish.
The options are:
Extend.
End.
Abstain.
Felix left the 5 votes Atalus owned to Noah, allocating only the Stormbringer's votes himself.
25 votes, the Stormbringer's, abstain.
He figured it was best if he abstained, making it appear as if the Stormbringer didn't care or wasn't even in attendance. He waited for Noah to finish casting the city's votes then asked him what they had voted for. Turns out, it was almost unanimous amongst the people that had opened their panels that they wanted the restricted period to continue. Atalus had voted along with them to gain favor but mostly to avoid making enemies. Once all the votes were in, just a few minutes later, the results were displayed to all in attendance.
World Council
The vote is for whether or not the settlement founding restricted period should continue for another 4 months or not. There are 65 votes in attendance.
The results are:
Extend: 23
End: 7
Abstain: 35
World Council
The restricted settlement founding period will be extended for another 4 months, until the next world council meeting where another vote will occur to extend or end it. The other items on the agenda for the next meeting are:
Restricted Settlement Period Vote
World Event Selection Vote
Any of the World Council members or their representatives may also add items to the agenda at any time, before the meeting, to be voted on by the council.
Who the hell split their votes?
Maybe they sold them individually?
World Event
Stolen novel; please report.
At the following World Council Meeting, the council will vote on three options for the World Event. This Event will take place one month following the next meeting and will last an indefinite amount of time. There are a limited number of slots to attend the world event and they will be offered to the first 10,000 people to hit D grade. The options for the world event are as follows:
Ancient Sanctum of Knowledge: An ancient library that has long since been abandoned but still contains secrets and treasures left behind. The knowledge will be useful to inform decisions about your class, race, profession, skills, the world, crafting and more. Treasures can also be found hidden among the books and shelves of the library.
Vault and Tomb Raiding: A city where an ancient evil has been sealed away. His soul and treasures that led to his rise in power have been sealed in the city. Throughout the city there remains treasures left behind by the citizens before they were turned into a hoard of mindless zombies. Their leader also stockpiled treasures into vaults throughout the city from his various conquests throughout his system.
Natural Treasure Hunt: An area rife with natural treasures of all varieties, minerals, metals, plants, gems. Be wary, the treasures will be guarded by dangerous beasts. These materials will be useful for crafting weapons, armor and building up the infrastructure of a civilization.
Hoard not horde? Was that a mistake? Couldn't be…
World Council
With all items on the agenda complete, you may freely discuss with other representatives or leave the meeting simply by initiating teleportation.
Finally. Teleport.
Felix instantly reappeared in the empty floor of his tower with Nova in his arms, just as he had left for the meeting. He gently placed Nova on the floor and was about to open his D grade class selection screen when Grim interrupted him.
I got an answer for the gods thing.
The what?
Remember we were wondering why some legends and myths from earth exist?
Oh right.
It seems like no one actually knows, but myths and legends tend to be the same across many planets and universes. A lot of those also tend to be real, no one really knows why though.
That was unsatisfying.
You want my guess?
Yeah, hit me with it.
You know about anima, the collective unconscious?
Of course.
Well, it's made up of departed souls and contains experiences. It's possible some experiences were so great, they were ingrained in the ambient anima and happen to reoccur all over the place.
Wouldn't that have happened in your universe? Why is this just a theory?
I'm starting to think your universe or the multiverse ruled by the system is ridiculously old in comparison to most universes.
So yours never had time to develop the myths and legends and then pass them on?
It also seems like the system might be messing with the anima, not entirely sure about that one though. That's my best guess though. It's somewhat supported by the odd phenomena where sometimes people will access memories from past lives, old souls that make up their soul now.
Maybe we can figure that one out at some point. Any other answers?
D grade ends at level 1000, C at 2000. This continues to S then past S things get weird and it's mostly just considered Divine or Godhood at that point. Apparently no one cares about levels anymore.
So E grade is just weirdly short?
Yeah the first grade and last grade are weird, everything else is simple.
900 levels to go. That's a lot. Seems like D grade will be a lot longer than I had hoped.
From what I gather, D grade is the first big wall most people hit and where most people get stuck. The vast majority of the multiverse is stuck at D grade.
Really? 1000 is high, but not that high.
Apparently the time to gain levels slows down dramatically.
Ouch, all the more reason to choose a good class and profession then.
Felix opened his D grade class evolution selection screen and scrolled through the options. There were 5 total.
[D - Uncommon] Sorcerer
The sorcerer focuses on casting spells instead of learning them. The sorcerer's spell list is locked and may not be changed without consequences. The spells on the spell list however, may be cast faster and without verbal or somatic components. The spells will also become more tuned to the desire of the sorcerer, sometimes morphing or shifting with a strong enough will.

Boring.
[D - Rare] Arcanist
The Arcanist focuses on understanding the unknown. Their spells will tailor themselves depending on the Arcanist's understanding of the spell and it's functions. This can result in spells morphing shape, changing element and growing or shrinking as an example.

I like the theme of understanding, definitely resonate with that. It's still focused on a spell list though.
[D - Rare] Spell Weaver
The Spell Weaver attempts to weave and fuse spells together. They utilize a combo system that allows them to cast multiple spells in rapid succession or even fuse multiple spells together for devastating effect. This requires an intimate connection with the spells, and understanding of the effects of the spells, on their spell list.

+5 FREE per level
This sounds really cool and if this were a video game, spell combos sound awesome. Unfortunately, I don't want to use my spell list, and I can already do this more or less.
[D - Special] Evoker
The Evoker focuses on large scale siege spells that cause massive damage but are slow to cast and have large costs. The damage of these spells is increased as well as the stability, aim and cast time. Any spells with elemental effects will also deal bonus damage when the spell strikes either multiple creatures or structures.

+25 INT per level
+6 FREE per level
This is… really boring. This might be the worst one. Large spells, long cast times? I want to be fast, not standing still. Also, I'm starting to hate spell lists.
[D - Mythic] Wizard
The Wizard is a Mythic class that is rarely given out and reserved for the very few who are worthy of it. It focuses on understanding the workings of spells, mana and magic as deeply as possible to uncover the mysteries of the universe. This class is heavily focused on research to obtain and guard knowledge. There is no penalty to swap spells from the Wizard's spell list so long as they have previously researched the new spell. Spells that have been researched are typically held in a spell book in case they need to be swapped onto the Wizard's spell list. Swapping spells in the spell list takes a period of an hour reduced by intelligence to a minimum of 10 minutes.

Mythic? Hey Grim, any big reason why I should take this one?
What? Hell no, that class sucks. They all suck. It's stats are only slightly better than rare and it sounds boring as hell.
Huh, thought you would push for it.
Why the hell would I do that?
I don't know, guess I just expected it given how you reacted to the race selections.
That was a special case. My opinion: These are all really arse.
Did you say ‘arse'?
I couldn't think of an appropriate word to express my disappointment.
Yeah… Hey System, these all suck… for me. Can we switch these up and give me some new options? Please? Anything that doesn't have to do with the spell list but still gives lots of intelligence or free points if possible? If the stats weren't so misaligned, I would take a look at switching to fighter… . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .
