Felix couldn't see them very well, not until they were right next to him where he could barely react fast enough to block and dodge, let alone hit them with a Fire Bolt. He prepared something he had wanted to try since the failure of a Firework spell attempt back in the dungeon.
Prepare yourselves you annoying land, ice fish things, for The Reverse Pocket Star. Wait that's awful and inaccurate, I'm just reversing the force component, it's not cold or anything. The Exploding Pocket Star, I think I need to drop the whole star thing. The Super Nova, that sounds too cool, I don't think this will be that cool. Hand Grenade? Contact Bomb? Agh, naming is hard.
Felix create a large ball of fire wrapped in a shell of mana with a lot of force packed right in the middle. The disadvantage to their impeccable coordination, was that Felix knew exactly when to expect one of them to appear right next to him.
They really should incorporate bluffs into their battle plan. It wouldn't be full proof, but I would probably have to consider conserving mana.
A Selefin dove through a wave of icy water, fangs ready to sink into flesh but instead it found a small ball of mana stuffed into it's throat. With Felix's wraps, he wasn't worried about it biting down but he was worried about blowing up the tips of his fingers. He planted the spell as deep as he could before yanking his arm back. He realized his timing was completely off, and the contents would have fizzled by the time the shell disintegrated so he instead destroyed the mana shell manually.

Felix was right, the spell was not cool enough to be dubbed, The Super Nova. The Selefin's head remained attached, and outwardly there was no indication of damage, except for some slight stretching of the skin at the base of the skull and a couple of missing scales. The spell did however, kill it completely.
Now I tune the timing better and hope it also kills from the outside too.
Felix was shoving about 25 Fire Bolts worth of fire into the middle of the bomb, with the force acting as the delivery mechanism more than anything.
This really isn't that much better than Fire Blast, is it? This is more unidirectional, so I don't have to aim it, which I don't think I could do against these things anyways. I just wish I had a way to stick the spells then explode them later on.
The next Selefin to directly attack Felix, this one with it's claws, was met with a shrapnel bomb made of many Mana Bolts backed by a wallop of force. Felix also cast part of a dome behind it to make sure everything was directed away from himself.

That one was decent. I guess if I needed to do mostly physical damage that would be fine. Although I would almost rather just create giant arrows or javelins, or a sword, that could be fun. Then I have to learn to use it though. Damn, this is probably better for now.
Felix tried a spell with pure force, and ripped a hole right through one of their chests.

Next he tried some variation of Lightning Touch, though he needed a lot more mana than he wanted to accomplish anything of value. He didn't even kill the one he hit, at first he had to hit it on it's tail again right as it jumped away.

He avoided ice and cold for now as he didn't think it would have any effect on these enemies as well as light, he figured they had some way of seeing through the light or avoiding being blinded.
Wait a second, how did they reflect enough light to almost blind me in here. That doesn't make any sense, conservation of energy and all that. So either System Fuckery with a skill, or…
Felix confidently rose to his full height and walked forwards, away from the wall. He fired a blast of force to his left then followed it with a Fire Bolt.

He used the force blast to bore a hole through the water and mist. His Fire Bolts were also improved from his time in the dungeon. Now he always made them hotter. Instead of making them bigger with more fire, he kept the size the same. He also used a touch of force to hold them together and a touch more to launch them faster. Finally, he spun them, just for good measure. It cost almost double the mana, but it seemed appropriate considering his base Fire Bolt still only cost 10 mana. With his current mana pool, that was over 1500 casts, which he didn't see himself needing anytime soon.
Felix raised his arm and fired of another pair of spells without looking. He realized they were creating light somehow, because there was definitely a lot more light now than there before they had started prancing around, even if it was reflected and concentrated. The light had to either be a skill, part of their bodies, or a spell. He wasn't sure which it was, but it was definitely using mana, Felix could sense them as they danced around him.

They could have just stopped creating light, but considering they didn't use any feints, it didn't seem they were quite intelligent enough to figure that out.
The cave was much darker now, and their coordinated efforts much less effective with only three of them left. They put up a valiant effort, but they didn't have enough of them left to really put up any kind of a fight. It seemed that their intelligence was also too low to try and run away, or the dungeon compelled them to keep fighting. The pack animals without a pack were hunted down and slaughtered rather quickly, with Felix firing out three spells almost at once.

All free points in intelligence. Man, I am going to take this amulet off in D grade or sooner, and be soooo much weaker. I feel like I should add points to something else, balance things out, but it is just too satisfying to see all my stats going up at once. Merh, just have to deal with that when I get to it.

Felix dried himself off with gust and some light heat, then sat down and meditated, pulling mana, but not as fast as he could as he didn't want his spells to misbehave. After 30 minutes, Felix sat attentively waiting for something to happen, movement, sound, a glimmer of light or something more nefarious, like an arrow or ball of fire.
He waited 20 minutes as nothing came his way, then he shrugged and continued meditating. He fully regenerated his mana and the modicum of health he had lost, mostly from the cold, in just under 3 hours, giving him a few minutes to think up some new spells.
While meditating he focused on his senses as much as he could. He also successfully opened his eyes, which he didn't think was possible previously. His meditation was about focus though, so it felt the same to Felix whether he was focusing on his mana or his senses.
Once Felix was fully restored, he rose to his feet and continued walking through the cave. As he walked, the cave grew darker, with some solid stone making up the wall and ceiling now, interspersed with the ice. There was still a minute amount of light mostly from the cave where Felix had come from but barely enough to navigate by.
Felix prepared himself for something to jump out and cast a very bright Light spell right above his own head. Lo and behold, a mass of black fur the size of a car with demonic wings and horns shot itself at Felix the instant the light appeared.
Felix dove to the side with an energy buffed jump, getting him out of range of the whole of it's body and wings. He turned around to see a four legged, muscular bat. It was covered in black fur, except for it's leathery wings which included vicious claws halfway across them. Overall it reminded Felix a little of a wolf crossed with a bat.
[E - Common] Vuloxator (Lvl 68)
Felix shot a Fire Bolt at it and was surprised to see it launch itself at incredible speed to the side, using it's wings to glide out of it's jump and settling in the middle of the far cave wall, using it's claws to anchor it there.
Time to test a new spell I guess. Mana Bolt is fast, but it doesn't do that much damage. As much as I hate naming, Mana Arrow and Mana Javelin for the bigger variant seem appropriate and don't sound too bad.
It took Felix a few tries to get the spin right so that the projectiles didn't veer off to the side, but eventually he was firing projectiles of mana at insane speeds, faster than Felix could track. Unfortunately, his aim was still pathetic, so he had only hit one of them in the leg. Another two had joined into the fight as well, launching themselves off their perches at Felix, trying to tackle him. With one them having an injured leg, there were only two that could continue the assault.
The Vuloxators were not nearly as coordinated as the Selefin's, Felix suspected the latter were pack hunters and the former were solo hunters that the dungeon stuck together for the fight. Either way, Felix was getting sick of jumping off to the side so he decided to test some more spells. When he next heard the explosion that came from one of them launching themselves, he summoned a Mana Shield and turned to face it head on.
The Vuloxator crashed into the Mana Shield, clearly not expecting it to hold strong as it scrambled to find purchase on the slick surface. Felix simply fired a Mana Javelin up through it's head and stepped away from the corpse.

The other two were not nearly smart enough to hold back, reevaluate or change tactics, so Felix simply finished them off in the same way.

Felix had expended a lot of mana tanking the Vuloxator with his shield, but not more than about 20% or so of his pool. His pool was just so massive, what would have once been a large expenditure, now meant little to him.
He had sustained some minor scrapes when he dove away from their attacks. That usually wouldn't have harmed him with his endurance, but he had jumped hard and fast with energy buffs. Felix sat down and meditated, attentive to his surroundings but managed to meditate until he was completely recovered once again.
Felix continued walking down the cave in the same direction as before, with his Light spell above his head from the start this time. He didn't encounter anything throughout the rest of the cave though. He eventually dropped his Light spell as the cave opened up onto a massive sheet of ice.
While on the one hand, it's nice to see the sky and get out of the cave, on the other, a sheet of ice is just bad news all around. Fuck it, nothing is ever gonna happen if I sit here, and I'll lose the potential speed or time bonus, if I haven't already.
Felix carefully stepped out onto the ice, ready to jump back at any moment. There was a pristine layer of powdery snow about an inch thick blanketing the ice, the only reason Felix knew it was ice was that it was almost perfectly flat. There were however, small craters partially covered in snow interspersed through the otherwise barren landscape.
Felix walked out further and looked back. The cave was a small hole at the bottom of an endless cliff wall that stretched out in every direction. He couldn't make out the top or either end of it and it was completely vertical, made of stone with massive glaciers hanging off of it. . . . . .
