Chapter 4: HOPE, FEAR AND DETERMINATION

Chapter 4: HOPE, FEAR AND DETERMINATION

After John left at the throne room, King Elwyn turned to Tarek whom he had summoned. "Tarek, what do you think of the boy's progress?"

"He's doing well," Tarek replied. "He has a lot to learn, but he's eager to learn it."

The king nodded. "Good. We need him to be strong if we're going to face the demons."

Tarek's expression turned serious. "Speaking of which, we've received word from our scouts that the demon king's forces are moving south aswell."

Elwyn frowned. "How far south?"

"Into the lands of the scorching deserts of Sandsea," Tarek said. "They've already infiltrated the Delfiora Human Kingdom it seems."

The king sighed. "I had hoped we would have more time to prepare John for the ordeals that lie ahead."

Tarek nodded. "We need to act quickly." His face weary from the stress

Elwyn placed a hand on Tarek's shoulder. "Thank you, my friend. Your loyalty to our kingdom is unwavering."

Tarek bowed his head, lowering his gaze. "It is my honor to serve your majesty."

Stolen story; please report.

The king's gaze turned to the window, where the first rays of sunlight were peeking over the horizon. "We must make haste. The fate of our realm hangs in the balance."

Tarek nodded. "I'll see to it that our forces are mobilized immediately. Thankfully this will be a well lesson for our young hero."

As Tarek left the throne room, King Elwyn sat down on his throne, lost in thought. The demons were a constant threat, but the news that they were moving south was particularly concerning. He knew that he and his people must be ready to face them eventually, no matter the cost. And he couldn't help but wonder if John, with his hidden protector and newfound skills, would be able to play a role in the coming conflict.

As he thought about the coming conflict, his mind drifted to his late wife, who had passed away several years ago. She had been a strong and wise queen, and he missed her dearly. He knew that she would have been proud of him for the way he was handling the crisis, but he also wished she was there with him to face it together.

Despite his feelings of loss and concern, Elwyn remained steadfast in his determination to protect his people. And he couldn't help but feel a glimmer of hope when he thought about John. The young man had a hidden protector and was being taught how to protect himself. Perhaps he could be the hero they needed to turn the tide of the coming conflict.

But as much as he wanted to place his hopes in John, he knew that he couldn't rely solely on one person. The demons were a powerful and ruthless enemy, and they would stop at nothing to conquer the lands of the innocent, making constant plots of corruption. He would need to call upon all of his resources, including his best warriors and the support of his people, to face this threat head-on, but that would be a situation for later.

With a deep breath, King Elwyn stood up from his throne, feeling a renewed sense of purpose. He would lead his people with strength and courage, just as his late wife had done before him.
