CHAPTER 13: THE AWAKENING OF SUNWEAVER, A WANDERER'S JOURNEY TO DISCOVER THE HOLY BLADE.

As John trudged through the endless dunes of the Sandsea Desert, he couldn't help but feel lost. After departing from the encampment which had been at, he trudged through the desert once again, this time he had a new goal before entering the inner region of the human kingdom which was to first become more learned, and in his efforts to better himself he started searching for answers about the complex history of the human empire and the conflicts that had arisen with other races in Arathia which he had heard about along the way while traveling.

After searching for clues from nearby nomad encampments, John left and eventually found a far distance away from him a demon wielding a scythe. The mere sight of it sent a chill down his spine as the creature towered over him, its skin the color of ash, and its eyes glowing with an unearthly yellow hue.

The demon was adorned in yellow, brittle cloth, its robes tattered and worn. Its sharp features were accentuated by the dark shadows cast by the scythe it carried. John felt a shiver run down his spine as he realized the danger he was in. He knew he had to get away, but he couldn't bring himself to move. The demon's presence was overwhelming, and he felt paralyzed by fear.

The demon didn’t seem to have noticed him yet, and John knew that it was too dangerous for him to face in his current state. So, he chose to avoid the demon by taking refuge in a nearby cave.

As he entered the cave, John was enveloped in darkness, and he could feel space distorting around him. When he finally emerged from the darkness, he found himself in an underground inverted mausoleum, surrounded by an ancient aura. He tried to leave but found himself back at the same spot every time.

John took a deep breath and decided to delve deeper into the inverted mausoleum. As he explored, he came across ancient text plastered on the walls, detailing the history and lore of the Sandsea Desert. The text revealed that the desert was once a thriving land until a sorcerer, who had once been a saint level practitioner, fell into corruption and brought ruin to the land.

This book was originally published on Royal Road. Check it out there for the real experience.

The more John read, the more he realized that the text was incomprehensible to anyone else but himself. He felt as if he was destined to discover the secrets that lay hidden within the walls of the mausoleum.

John continued his journey through the mausoleum, coming across a mural behind an alter According to the text, the Sandsea Desert was once a lush forest, home to a Saint-level knight and a Saint-level sorcerer. The sorcerer was corrupted by power and engaged in a duel with the knight. After the fight, the knight's sword became infused with the remnant energies remaining in its surrounding, and it transformed into a Holy Blade. The knight and sorcerer eventually succumbed to their wounds, with their body becoming the foundation for the desert's creation.

As John continued to read, he came across a mural behind a sword that was entrenched in the middle of an altar. The mural indicated that the sword was the holy sword that the Saint knight had once used, and it had a name - "Sunweaver." The sword had been entombed for centuries waiting for its awaited awakening.

John took the sword from its resting place and felt a surge of power course through his body. The sword, known as the Sunweaver, was unlike any he had ever seen. Its blade shimmered like a sunbeam, and its hilt was adorned with intricate engravings of vines and leaves. John could feel its weight in his hand, and it felt as though it was meant to be wielded by him.

John couldn't believe his luck in finding such a weapon, yet his sense of morality knew he couldn't keep it. The sword belonged to the people of Arathia, and he was just a wanderer passing through. He made the decision to leave the sword in the altar and continue his journey, but as he was about to place the Sunweaver back in its resting place, he felt a burning sensation on his hand.

The sword had left a mark on him - a tattoo of the blade itself, etched onto the back of his hand. John knew that he had been chosen by the Sunweaver, and he couldn't help but feel a sense of responsibility, yet also one of guilt leaving him to sigh.

After some more exploring he eventually managed to leave the inverted mausoleum and continued on his journey, feeling the weight of the holy sword's legacy on the back of his hand. He knew that with the power of the Sunweaver, he could bring hope to Arathia and fight against the darkness that threatened to consume it.

Looking back he noticed that the cave had returned to being just an ordinary cave.
