Bio: Born in Russia 1972 March 9 as the sole child of a patriotic family Tarasov grew into an example of his parents. Being quite athletic he enjoyed a comfortable childhood with close friends in the neighbourhood. He learned to shoot from a very young age and took an interest in joining the army with the support of his family at 12 years of age. This comfortable childhood began to fall apart at the age of 14 following the chernobyl disaster.
The disaster crippled the country as it attempted to recover throwing it into debt. The strain was felt by Tarasov’s family as their lifestyle began to degrade. While maintaining a modest living Tarasov saw the newly formed zone as a cancer sucking the life out his neighbourhood turning his ambition to finding a solution to either solve or destroy the zone. Not being an academic however he leant towards the army even further to be given the tools to at least keep it contained while someone else figured out a solution.

At the age of 18 Tarasov enlisted immediately with selectors becoming aware of his inspiring zeal for his country. During training he was a model recruit and inspiration to those around him as he pushed himself to his limits to be the best soldier he could be. At graduation Tarasov saw himself at the top of his class and took up a position in the VDV from an initiative looking for exceptional recruits. Once he had completed his training he first saw action in the first Chechen war in 1996.
The war devolved into chaos on the front’s Tarasov fought on which ended up incurring massive civilian casualties. Bloodied and shaken his resolve was tested when both sides devolved into using desperate and unethical methods as commonplace tactics. Tarasov’s faith in his country was eventually broken after an airborne operation went wrong after deployment and he and his men were abandoned behind enemy lines. While most surrendered to the separatists Tarasov made his way back to the Russian line miraculously without being killed. With the war at an end in 1996 with Russia’s withdrawal Tarasov was given plenty of time to reflect on the horrors he had seen and try rebuild his patriotism.
Shaken by the carnage he had seen Tarasov simply set out to complete the service he owed to his country and hopefully leave the armed forces at some point. In 1999 however with the second Chechen war Tarasov once again saw service in the same location he came to dread. A brutal assault was launched once again seeing the same atrocities of the last war coming back to life. By 2000 the war had seemingly come to an end but he saw himself fighting insurgents for 9 long years before the war was finally declared over.
At 37 years of age and his mind being torn apart by the horrors too numerous to mention he generated an unhealthy obsession for the zone in which he blamed both wars on. In his mind all the friends he’d lost and the great depression in his country he so desperately wanted to love all fell during the chernobyl disaster in his mind. Upon hearing of the crusaders in the zone in 2010 he left without hesitation to infiltrate the area to finally destroy his arch nemesis and apparent antagonist in his life.
Infiltrating without issue and quickly finding a crusader force it took very little convincing to be placed in a crusader unit. Tarasov fought numerous cerberus cell’s and being well accustomed to counter insurgent warfare absolutely excelled in his role. His terrifying zeal was given purpose anew as he fought for his comrades in arms which he grew to respect immensely as they protected the pioneer populace from the menaces deeper within the zone.
By 2011 he was already a renowned crusader in the south of the zone. He regularly fought in bare fist boxing matches earning the nickname Ringer and eventually Victor. His friends also called him Failsafe as a bet on Tarasov was a bet won. Fighting alongside his friends within the 10km exclusion zone where otherworldly threats were at their height saw their demise however. While navigating a tear field a few of his squad were lost to gravity fluctuations blowing some apart with tremendous force.
Ill equipped and without the knowledge to traverse the area safely the situation became critical as a cerberus unit took full advantage of the tear. Half of the squad remaining perished in seeking out cover alone while the other half fell one by one not being able to safely move and find cover amongst the deadly tears. With the hit squad leaving their hunting ground Tarasov clawed his way back to the cemetery ships agreed as neutral ground and was given medical care until he was ready for duty.
In 2012 Tarasov was given assignments closer to the border of the zone to protect the outlying areas from the increasing aggression the zone emitted. Though he saw less conflict or horrors a fire continued to burn deep within his soul. An absolute iron will drove him forward in his duties never relenting or hesitating to destroy the forces of the zone or those who pledged to protect it. Mutant, cerberus, collective or otherwise they would all fall beneath his righteous fire wherever they hid. The world would not be taken by this perverse corruption as it destroyed what he loved most in his mind.
