Bio: Born 1974 June 5 Finland. Raised in a brutal family environment of constant abuse Fusion found himself suffering mental illness from a very young age. He became very adept at hiding his emotions and focussing on being what others around him wanted him to be. While this actually saw him became somewhat popular with his peers he always felt that he never had any true friends. Working through his school career he developed a strong interest in pulling apart any mechanical items he could get his hands on as an escape for his mind.
Continuing to follow his passion he became quite a skilled mechanic and gunsmith which saw him excelling in hands on classes. Working as hard as he could regardless of his home life or personal issues he achieved a surprisingly impressive academic record which he took to the army seeing it as an escape from the issues which plagued him. After training he quickly saw himself as an armourer maintaining a variety of weapon systems. His ability to salvage parts earned him the callsign Fusion while some just referred to him as the wizard.
A case of theft: this story is not rightfully on Amazon; if you spot it, report the violation.
During firing drills on the range he was stationed on the misuse of a a heavy machine gun saw 3 soldiers wounded in training. It was this moment Fusion met his future partner as the on station nurse tended to the wounded soldiers. The two enjoyed the brief company they experienced with each other and after running into each other a number of times on base the nurse Alkilina persuaded Fusion to take her out for drinks where Fusion admitted to some of his issues as well as Alkilina mentioning she suffered from hemophilia.
The two became fast friends and for the first time in his life Fusion felt he had someone there for him. Alkilina quickly became an irreplaceable force in Fusion’s life as he began to open up on all the issues that had plagued his mind to this point. One night Fusion found himself in a drunken stupor after an overwhelming rush of PTSD. Noting Fusion had been off for the last couple of days Alkilina went round to find him in his state. After looking after him through the night Fusion woke up to breakfast and a concerned friend.
At this moment Fusion recalled every moment of distress in his life to Alkilina though he remained calm no matter what he recounted while Alkilina simply sat and listened. Shortly after Fusion apologized for putting such strain on her and she simply replied that she just wanted to see him happy. After admitting that a life with her would complete him the two became romantically engaged and married 3 years later at the age of 24.
Fusion took to life with an incredibly positive attitude afterwards and even though he’d been through hell things worked out to be ok, fantastic even. Every day he’d return to a warm home and loving wife and couldn’t ever ask for more. While the couple attempted to have children Fusion found out at the age of 26 he was sterile. Disappointed he was reassured it wasn’t an issue as long as they had each other from his wife and continued on carefree and optimistic.
At the age of 33 however Fusions perfect world came crashing down upon receiving a call that his wife had been involved in a car crash. Speeding over on a motorcycle risking life and limb to at least see his wife one last time he burst through the hospital to the emergency room regardless of security trying to apprehend him. Entering the theater he saw the blood soaked body of his wife covered in wounds which refused to clot as security finally dragged Fusion away.
A year after the event Fusion had already made an attempt on his life after his mind broke under the stress of reliving the sight of his dead wife in his mind every night. Developing debilitating hemophobia he found himself discharged with support benefits from the army driving him to two choices. Either push himself to the point where he couldn’t feel the loss of his wife anymore or give in to the constant stress. Choosing the prior he saw the zone as an ultimate test in that it would either provide challenges preventing him from going back to that place in his mind or kill him outright, either way suited him.
Arriving in 2008 he found his skills were in high demand as there were few equipment specialists in the zone especially those with an aptitude towards weapons. Fusion quickly found himself working as an armourer once again repairing anything handed over to him quickly building a reputation as a reliable technician. Though away from the challenges he craved for he found that his PTSD and depression quickly subsided and his optimism and carefree nature returned in the zone while constantly focussed on repair jobs.
In 2009 Fusion also met Sparrow who saw Fusion frequently as a returning customer asking for maintenance jobs for the weapons of her entire team. After a few visits the two warmed up to each other where Fusion saw Sparrow as the daughter he never had while Sparrow respected the man's optimism and big heartedness. Fusion ended up owning a very prosperous repair shop on the cemetery ships island living in what was considered very comfortable conditions for the zone.
Sparrow however continued to pressure Fusion to leave with her to find the comfortable life he deserves. Unsure on how to proceed all he remembered was the crushing stress of reliving the memories of the sight of that body. He believed however that maybe he could make it in the real world now he had worked through his issues in the zone but if the stresses returned in force he wouldn’t be long for this world. Sticking to what he knew he for the moment he remained biased to remaining in the zone but is still open to Sparrow’s pleas to leave.
