The soul is nothing but the essence of cosmic energy.
In an unknown universe.
A shapeless, translucent sliver of soul was darting in the dark space
"Easy Easy," the soul muttered as it swerved around the asteroids and made its way through the void.
It was clear from the voice that the soul belonged to a man.
Since it was only a sliver of soul, the energy contained in the asteroids was extremely dangerous to it.
Even though it was dangerous, he had no choice but to navigate through this belt of asteroids. His main body was destroyed, as were many of its backups.
Fortunately, no one discovered his last back up plan, which allowed him to live and escape the pursuit of those scoundrels.
He had been fleeing with all his might after being attacked by those people, and it had been thousands of years since he had escaped from those people. Even so, whenever he thought he was safe, those people would track him down.
But after fleeing for thousands of years, he didn't have much energy left. He hoped to find a suitable location to acquire a good body and restart his life.
As he fled, he always avoided the area full of these asteroids. He knew that if he ran into them, he would have to expend a lot of energy to save his life.
But, due to a brief lapse in concentration, he became entangled in this belt.
After a long while, he escaped the belt and he heaved a sigh.
"Finally," he grumbled, but he knew he had expended a lot of energy avoiding collision with those asteroids.
He was also aware that he didn't have much time left and would perish if he couldn't find a suitable body.
But suddenly, his attention was drawn to a glittering star in an unknown galaxy.
His eyes narrowed for a moment before excitement flushed on his face as he flew towards the star.
The more he got near the star, the more he realized that something was amiss.
But, all of a sudden, his soul floated in the vast space, his gaze fixed on the star.
"Multiple worlds in a single star?" He muttered to himself.
Stolen from Royal Road, this story should be reported if encountered on Amazon.
"No wonder," The soul almost grinned and dashed towards the star as he also found a suitable body.
But, in his excitement about finding a suitable body and a stable future, he didn't notice that a projectile was speeding toward him.
BAM
"Fuck! What was that? "He yelled weakly. The collision was so powerful that his meager energy was nearly depleted, and he was on the verge of dying.
"So that was it, huh?" he muttered helplessly as he gave up the fight and accepted his fate.
After living a glorious life, he was reduced to a sliver of soul, chased, and hunted to the end of the universe.
Unknowingly, the collision increased his speed toward the star, and he entered it.
....
Logan City.
A desolate and dark alley filled with trash cans and foul odors.
A man in his twenties, dressed in a black blazer over a white shirt, sat on the ground with his back to the wall.
But his breathing was heavy and he was clutching his bloodied stomach and his desolate eyes were staring at four men in front of him.
They were all in good shape and had cruel smiles on their faces as they stared at him and one of them spoke.
"Why were you trying to be a hero? You didn't even know the girl," the man's glance shifted to one end of the alley
At the corner of the alley, a girl in a maroon singlet was bawling as she sprawled on the ground. Her clothes, however, were ripped in various places, and her fair skin was marred by handprints.
The man's eyes were filled with resentment and anger, and his gaze was drawn to the girl and recalled the events that led to this outcome.
Despite his hectic schedule, he made time today to attend his high school reunion.
After leaving the reunion, he thought the weather was nice and wanted to relax his mind, so he went for a walk around the city.
But who would have guessed that when he came across this alley, he would hear the helpless cries of a girl?
His curiosity piqued, and he went inside the alley to find four men attempting to force themselves on the girl.
Unknowingly, he yelled and even mustered the audacity to confront these men, who were clearly hooligans.
And the result was clear: he had been stabbed four times in the stomach and was on the verge of death.
A helpless sigh escaped his lips as he felt unbearable pain all over his body.
His hand was clutching his stomach, but due to the excessive blood loss, darkness began to envelop his consciousness, but he looked up to look at the sky filled with stars
He didn't want to see the figures of four ugly men in his final moments.
Perhaps he was taking his last breaths, or it could have been for another reason. He noticed a bright light approaching him from the sky at an unimaginable speed.
His pupils constricted and his eyes opened wide, but before he could react, that bright light pierced him and entered his body, eventually enveloping him in darkness.
......
The four hooligans had amused expressions on their faces as they watched the man finally close his eyes and stop breathing.
They smirked at each other, and their gaze was eventually drawn to the girl at the alley's corner.
The girl had a shocked expression on her tear-stained face as her eyes were fixed on the dead body of the man, who died because of her.
Her heart was filled with guilt. If not of because of her stubbornness and fight with her parents, she wouldn't have gone to the party with her friends which eventually lead her to be cornered by the hooligans when she was returning home.
That man would not have died if it hadn't been for her stupidity, and her fate would not have been in the hands of these four men.
She was so engrossed in her thoughts that she didn't even notice that four men were approaching her.
But suddenly, her eyes widened as she noticed the man's eyes snapped open, his lips curled into a sinister smile, and his gaze shifted to the four men.
