Volume 4: Pionin Chapter

Delaware

On the shores of Delaware, Hyuken and Kiqi are looking over the former Cult of Sheyane members as they begin building new homes on the coast

Hyuken: So why did the guild want us to oversee these movements, we're hardly the most qualified people

Kiqi: I think it’s more so that the guild gave us a low effort job after the crucible we were just thrown into

Hyuken: So you’re saying we’re getting our much earned rest?

Kiqi: You’re damn right

Hyuken: So…what now..

Kiqi: What do you mean?

Hyuken: What happens to the Pionin, what happens to us?

Kiqi: I don’t see why that matters?

Hyuken: We were involved with the capture of a genocidal maniac who can now never die and while she will never escape the Garden of Eden, it still worries me

Kiqi: Neve will no longer haunt the Pionin and the Pionin’s Truth will disband and scatter to the winds.

???: But still…

Someone else emerges

Pionin Stranger: Those people are still out there, people like me

Unauthorized use: this story is on Amazon without permission from the author. Report any sightings.

Kiqi: What do you have to say sir

Pionin Stranger: My name is Eett and I was a member of the Pionin’s Turth’s final assault on The Coral Chamber

Hyuken: Alright Eett, what business do you have with me and my partner?

Eett: I think I want to apologize

Kiqi: Pardon me?

Eett: Neve and Aoenen’s plan was madness, a massacre on that scale is something I could never take part in. I joined the Pionin’s Truth to defend old Pionin traditions and be a guiding light for other Pionin. Our group was paramilitary in nature but we never really partook in terrorism of the innocent.

Hyuken: I thought your entire group was made of racist assholes.

Eett: Some of us maybe, but for every dickhead there was a genuinely kind and mislead person like me who got roped into their shenanigans out of good intentions

Kiqi: So?

Eett: Getting trapped in the Coral Chamber was an experience that has marred me and my perception of the world. I realized that maybe our cause was wrong and we needed to evolve and change as a people.

Kiqi: I get where you’re coming from, I always idolized Neve for being such a stalwart defender of our culture, for sticking to her values and convictions, I had no idea about her childish jealousy and how she lashed out others like her but different at the same time. Neve was rude to me from the jump and Hyuken could immediately tell she wasn’t worth a damn thing or moment of my time. I was blinded by that fact since I had looked up to her for so long and wanted to be in the guild like her. It all fell apart when she lied about her pregnancy with Aoenen, I had lost all faith I had in her because she wanted to tell such a pointless lie, just to hurt me.

Eett: Getting your entire worldview warped, it’s a disjointed experience

Hyuken: So how do you plan to move forward?

Eett: Together

A large group of ex Pionin’s Truth members appear

Kiqi: A riot?

Eett: No, we’re going to be better than that

Eett leads the group of people up to the ex Sheyane Cultists

Sheyane Stranger: Uh hello, what do you want with us?

Eett: Remember our time in the Coral Chamber

Sheyane Stranger: Eett?

Eett: I think it’s time to leave all that violence behind us

Sheyane Stranger: Are you moving into the future with us

Eett: Of course, we’ll build a better future together

The Pionin and Sheyane begin working together on the project

Kiqi: We’re better than revenge

Hyuken: Do you want to join them in civilian life?

Kiqi: No, we’ve got to defend the future they plan to build because without us, this wouldn’t be possible

Hyuken: You want to fight on?

Kiqi: I do, my weary heart has taken blow after blow, but I can’t despair now, and I can’t give up

Hyuken: In that case, I’ll follow you to the end

Kiqi and Hyuken resume their watch, resolving to stay in the Century Corps.
