Flying Solo: Epilogue

Four Years Ago

Falconer is sitting alone with Viridian, the two of them are talking..

Viridian: I’m very sorry for what happened to Hyane…and even if I didn’t fire the shot, I still had a hand in what happened…so…please forgive me for what I’ve done…

Falconer: I think…what you did really hurt my friend…but I know you would have never wanted this…and the person responsible has already been discharged and has been punished for their actions…I don’t think you should punish yourself anymore but..I don’t have it in my heart to forgive you now…

Viridian: I understand…I’m not a good person by any longshot but I always try my hardest.

Falconer: I know you’ve got a good heart, and one day I’ll be able to finally forgive you for what you’ve done and I’ll be able to move on with my life…

Viridian: I have a feeling..that you’ll never really be able too

Falconer: Why is that?

Viridian: Because you are stubborn, and you don’t give up

Falconer: Huh..

Viridian: I’m right, aren’t I?

Falconer: You may be…

Viridian: I know you and while Hyane may be incapacitated right now but he’ll be fine one day and you’ll be able to cherish the days you have left.

Falconer: One day, one day soon hopefully

Present Day

A group of Century Corps members are going to the train station to welcome Juni, Falconer and Zaylee back from their trip to Columbia

Gladian: Falconer, Juni and Zaylee are scheduled to come back today, I wonder if they’re ok?

Indica: Why do you wonder that?

Gladian: Apparently there’s been some weird stuff happening in Columbia recently…

Viridian: The people I know would be fine in a crisis, they’re troopers.

Cosma: Having faith in your friends,

Viridian: I doubt the three of them forgive me for what happened all that time ago, but I’m really going the extra mile here..

Shiye: You can’t always get the outcome you want

Auralie: Sometimes you just gotta hope for that kind of stuff…

Gladian: Well..we’re here

The Six of Them enter the train station, only to find no Falconer, Juni or Zaylee

Auralie: Hey wait a minute…where are they?

Gladian: Uhm…I didn’t prepare for this…

Viridian: Well they were scheduled so I don’t doubt that they came back here…

Indica: So what? They just stiffed us and moved on

Shiye: It seems likely to be the case, maybe they missed our welcome and hightailed back it to the guild?

Cosma: Or maybe not?

Cosma points to a bundle of armor, the helmets of Falconer and Juni sticking out among them, with shards of Zaylee’s mace nearby

Indica: What the heck is this…

The Six of them move over to the bundle, with a message stuck to the armor

Cosma: Should we read it?

Shiye: Yeah we should

Viridian: I’ll do it

Viridian picks up the note and begins reading

Viridian: “Hello old friends and family, I’m sorry we could not be here to tell you ourselves, for we worry you will try to change our minds-”

The Voice shifts into Juni and Falconer

Falconer: “We’re announcing our formal resignation from The Century Corps, I’m sorry I can’t keep the promise I made to Hyane before he left, but I know you’ll keep fighting for the dream he cherished so much”

Juni: “Zaylee is also no longer with us, it’s part of the reason for our departure, while we want to continue fighting for the things we care about. We’re weary and tired from all the loss and heartbreak and we need peace of our own…”

Falconer: “If you don’t like that, then fine, but don’t try to find us…because we are not coming home”

Juni: “Our home is now the great world beyond, hopefully we find happiness out there”

Falconer: “Every ending is just a beginning, good luck out there”

The voice shifts back to Viridian

Viridan: “your dear friends, Juni and Falconer”

Gladian: So, they’re gone now?

Indica: What the hell, so Zaylee is dead and those two have quit…

Shiye: Looks like it…

Viridian: Well we can’t influence their decisions, we have to respect their choice and do our best to defend the city in their absence

Cosma: Anyone else find it weird how Falconer took off even though Hyane’s dream was to defend this city and help keep the smiles on everyone’s faces?

Auralie: I think it’s quite simple actually

Viridian: Why do you say that?

Auralie: It’s clear that over time…Falconer and Hyane lost their close connection they used to, it went on hiatus for four entire years, and while Falconer was still devoted, Hyane himself was not…it’s clear that in death that Falconer. Juni and Zaylee weren’t the people he considered close…it was us.

Indica: Our friend…and we never knew him by a name of Hyane did we

Gladian: Nope…we knew our friend as Husk…

Viridian: Falconer really had nothing left for him back at this guild…as his reason for being here is no longer present and it’s not like Juni wanted to stay either.

Cosma: So what to do now?

Shiye: Well, I’m glad Falconer has another reason to live…and that he can finally start over with no regrets

Indica: Because…maybe…one day…we’ll see him flying throughout our big beautiful sky, flying past the clouds drifting by
