Jeff and Rachel arrived in the training courtyard and soon found Sargent Mar overwatching two of Jeff’s summons working with bows. They stood observing the elven corporal fixing the stances of the two when Mar Looked at them.
“ Good, lil commander, even if you are taking time for yourself, you should never neglect your men. And who might this lovely lady be?”
Rachel blushed a little bit and Jeff straightened up entering his ‘commander’ mindset.
“ May I introduce, Saintess Rachel, one of the otherworlders and my friend. It is with her that I found I can teach my class to others.”
Hearing this the Sargent made a seemingly random gesture with his hands in front of his chest and bowed.
“ Greetings holy one. I see you walk a divine path. I assume these are some of your holy servants?”
Rachael turned to look are her three card constructs. She gestures to the heavily armored one to step forward and it took an honor guard stance after it does.
“ Well, this is my paladin variant of Jeff’s cards from my first subclass. Honestly, I am not that knowledgeable about armor or weapons.”
Mar takes a step forward and starts examining the construct. Its white featureless flesh is a stark contrast to Jeff’s floating skeleton version. He walks around twice before looking at the Saintess mildly disappointed.
“ When you asked for this armor and weapons, was it all together?”
Sheepishly she nods and the Sargent sighs in disappointment.
“ Well, from already working with the Lil Commanders constructs, I know that having them change out of something they are already using is near impossible unless they recently evolved. This means you are stuck with a heavy front liner with a two-handed polearm paired with a sword and board. Not to mention the armor is not quite right. For one your construct has no underarmor, leaving his joints completely exposed. Any half-decent rogue would take an arm or leg when they try to swing that monster one-handed. So they need to be taught how to use each of their weapons separately. In addition, they need a long-range attack option. Some light nimble archer will run around and rain down arrows as it chases in circles helplessly.”

Rachel blushed ashamed as Mar gestured to the less armored female construct with a crossbow on her back.
“ I will point it out right away, the arbalist has no under armor again. That being said, this one I can see being used in conjunction with your palidin. An automatic crossbow will ensure four quick shots. Even if you miss most of them, you are likely to hit at least one. However, what are they going to do if the bolts do not work. They have no secondary weapon like the palidin, which can do both short and medium range. You have got to remember to have a short-range option.”
Mar then dismissed the second construct and raised a curious eyebrow to the third, who brought out hidden daggers from her sleeves.
“ Rogue is not in my wheelhouse. So I can not really comment on their effectiveness by looks alone, but this one is probably the best of the three.”
He then turns to Rachael to look at her.
“ I highly recommend you think about getting some battle garb as well. As the healer, any wise attacker will go after you first. Especially in a surprise attack...”
Mar then paused realizing something and quickly bowed.
“ My apologies your holiness, I just realized...”
Rachel just waved her hand side to side.
“ I do not want to be defined by being a victim of my circumstance. You are helping me catch up on the weeks I missed due to the charm incident and the following recovery. I have not had much help from the staff since then because...”
Mar straightened up and breathed easier relieved.
“ Yes, your grace, as I was saying, I highly recommend arranging for some battle dress such as the Lil Commander normally wears. As he took today to be more casual than a noble should, I can excuse for him not wearing it today. As for you, I assume you have seen his different uniforms?”
Rachel nods and gestures toward Jeff’s constructs still learning how to use the bow.
“ I have seen him in much fancier versions of what they are wearing, and I see his even more fancy getup and the more reinforced version I assume for actual combat. I can assume that what he normally wears is his day-to-day while the fancy set is for special events and the reinforced one is for combat.”
“ And you would be correct. His day-to-day battle dress was made with comfort, fashion, and protection in mind. While the other two sacrifice comfort in order to enhance one of the other two aspects.”
Rachel nods agreeing to this.
“ So I need the same three things for the same reasons.”
“ Not quite, while the Lil Commander here is often in the spotlight, he is not often interacting with the masses. He is a noble, he is learning how to be a noble, and he is going to attempt to act like a noble. You are a saintess. People are going to want to close in on you and if you put up a strong outer appearance.”
“ I will be less approachable if I am in a suit of armor to say...”
She then gestured to what she had on and Mar smiled and shook his head amused.
“ Well, this is a bit too... open for most common folk. You are a saintess and expect at least some protection. And definitely less revealing.”
She started to blush again but did nothing to cover herself up. Which caused Mar to laugh.
