Awakening

Pilot was high into the tree's branches watching below him with wide eyes. There were no signs of anyone anywhere nearby. No one was walking, nor was there any noise coming from nearby. It was humid out as the sky was darkening as night slowly approached them. The wind was still strong, but it would be much colder as the night approached.

"How can Freeland see when it's getting dark like this…" Pilot whispered.

Freeland stood behind the tree holding a semi morphed hand waiting while stalking a lone deer . As it neared the tree he slashed at the deer swiftly before it could escape. The deer fell to the ground dead without being able to even cry out for mercy.

"Whoa! You did it!" Pilot cheered.

"We will have super tonight!" Freeland said happily.

That night Pilot watched Freeland cut open the stomach, clean it after removing the fur from it and prepare an animal stew. Pilot sat down and watched the old man working as his appetite slowly increased until it was a complete feast to eat.

They sat down by the fire and ate. Pilot ate silently and listened intently as the old man talked about his past adventures and stories from his childhood.

"Seeing as you speak english I want to guess you are from America," He grinned.

"I mean…I am from the US, but doesn't mean all english speakers are from there, but while on the subject where are you from?" Pilot asked.

"Also from America, but located in the heart of Texas, but they probably think were dead now and I left my poor wife there by herself," He explained.

"How come it was just you and daughter transported?" Pilot questioned.

Freeland took a huge bite of the meat on his plate before swallowing. He placed another piece of meat into his mouth chewing thoughtfully before answering.

"I was babysitting while my wife was at work and some reason a huge explosion of light hit us in our living room!" He shouted.

Pilot was speechless as he continued to listen closely. Freeland finished eating before continuing his next thought.

"But your daughter is a grown woman now…" Pilot mumbled.

"We have lived here a long time Pilot and there has not been a way out yet and Fawn and the mother try their best to accomadate us," Freeland noted.

"How old was Mayham when you was babysitting here?"

Freeland paused a moment thinking over the best way to word what he was about to tell him. He sat there with a guilty look on his face before taking a breath. Pilot's eyes grew wider. This couldn't be good, something wasn't right.

"She was around three years old at the time…now she is nearly sixteen…" He admitted.

"I am gonna be stuck here for the rest of my life…" Pilot muttered.

He was unsure what to do with himself realizing no one has returned to Earth . How many of his friends have been killed by Master Caym? He thought to himself.

"We should probably get rest soon," Freeland said.

"Right…"

Freeland started to place the meat away in plastic, but not before taking honey that was in his attached to his belt satchel to pour all over it. The man picked up his backpack before handing it to Pilot along with his blanket.

They both laid back against the trees watching the stars twinkle as the moon rose above the horizon, lighting the sky. Pilot glanced up to see the bright light of the star that always made his chest tight and caused his heart to ache.

"Goodnight kid,"

"Goodnight…" Pilot said.

Pilot was surprised to hear a soft chuckle from the other side of the tree as he watched Freeland lay his head on the tree trunk.

"Hey Freeland…can I ask you something?" Pilot spoke up.

"Hmm…"

"Who is Caym?"

"He is a boy who lost his way…the fae, the goblin race and more now under his control, but in terms of gifted I am not sure what his ability is other than he has truly amazing gifted people on his side," Freeland explained.

"How does Fawn expect us to fight someone like her?" Pilot asked.

"Truthfully…I really don't know Pilot…I am more scared of it being my daughter who kills me over Caym," Freeland noted.

"I see…"

"We got to try to train or else we can't improve ourselves…" Freeland mumbled.

Noises of ruffling could be heard softly in the tree's and nearby brush . Freeland and Pilot looked up at each other. Tiny noises of laughter could be heard lightly near them. Pilot gulped hard when he saw two figures moving closer towards them.

One was wearing some sort of armor, but the other one seemed a bit younger than her counterpart. A sword was strapped onto her hip. Pilot was stunned. A pair of a million eyes could be seen in the darkness.

The darkness before disappearing completely. Pilot watched as she grabbed a branch to pull herself into view. Pilot's heart began beating faster as he stared at the being in front of him, mesmerized. Her features were perfect; her hair blonde, long and silky. Her skin was smooth and tan and her teeth slightly showed in anticipation of what he could say next. Her eyes were big, round and brown. The other one, the young girl who was standing behind her sister.

"Goblins! " Pilot gasped.

"Shit! Why are they in this part?" Freeland yelled.

There was something off about the creature before him. It was as if she knew he was staring at her and wanted him to know exactly why. His eyes shifted back and forth between the two creatures before his gaze landed back on her he observed curiously.

"Master Caym sends you his warm regards, Pilot!" The goblin smiled.

The younger goblin pulled out a gun to shoot Pilot in the head . Pilot raised his arm to block it but the young goblin jumped aside in time and fired at Pilot. He dodged the bullet narrowly as it grazed his shoulder.

"How the fuck are you doing that?" Freeland asked.

"I-I don't know!" Pilot announced.

"Get him!" The female goblin ordered.

A stray bullet hits him in the forehead causing him to fall backward unconunconcious.

"Nnngh….wh...wha'..?" He groaned.

He tried opening his eyes again only to feel someone grab him by the collar. The female goblin pulled his head upward to stare down at his face. Her sharp pointed nose, red lips and white teeth glared down at him.

"Leave Pilot alone!" Freeland demanded.

"Shut up! It's no really a bullet as it will only knock him out temporarily…he is speaking to Master Caym…" She mumbled.

"Wait…what?!" Freeland yelled.

'Pilot, can you hear me Pilot?" A voice called.

Everything was covered in darkness . Nothing made sense. Everything felt distant. His mind had become cloudy. He could only barely make sense of what was going on around him.

The world spun and swayed. All he could feel was coldness and pain. He was in so much pain. His body burned. Every muscle screamed as it strained trying to force itself to move.

'Where am I?' Pilot asked.

'Well we are at the beginning of nothing…' He said with a snap.

Every inch became white and numb.Pilot woke to find himself in a field of grass and flowers. He looked around to find a familiar place, his eyes locked with those of a young woman who was lying asleep by his side. The young woman opened her eyes suddenly. She quickly scanned the area around her.

Bursting into a million butterflies that illuminated the real person behind the voice. A tall man with white bowl cut hair stood looking down at Pilot. Pilot's head pounded searching for a threat he didn't know yet.

"It's alright Pilot. You're safe," The man assured.

Pilot turned his attention back to the man and slowly began to relax. He looked around him again before asking 'What happened?'

"Allow me to introduce myself…I am Caym and you are my humble guest," Smirked.

"So you are Caym?" Pilot questioned.

Caym paced back and forth looking at the kid while saying "Yes Pilot I am Caym, the Lord of this world, you must give up this silly act as hero if you wish to live!" Caym stated.

"I didn't ask to here anyways!" Pilot shouted.

"Then why try at all? If I recall Fawn knew what was wrong with the second time you tried Minds Arrow and it didn't, but I don't think she ever told you why," He huffed.

"How…did you know?" Pilot questioned.

Caym bent down to grab Pilot by the jaw examining his features , his eyes narrowed in concentration.

"You are not normal," Caym declared.

"Why do I look inhuman you idiot!" Pilot barked.

"Even if you return home you will still these gifts given to you…you will never return home my little Pilot…" Caym smirked.

He flicked Pilot in the forehead to reveal a moving third eye in the middle of his head . Caym let go. Pilot stumbled forward falling onto his knees as the pain coursed throughout his whole body.

"I literally have a third eye?!" Pilot yelled.

The pupil of his newly risen third eye darted side to side as it gawked up at Caym and back down at the ground and Pilot could see it all.

"Make it stop please!" Pilot ordered.

"It seems this a part of you now…there is nothing I can do Pilot," He laughed.

"Please make it stop!" He begged.

Blood coursed down the eye painfully causing him to bend forward laying his head on the cold grass under him. His body shook with fright. He could see Caym laughing mockingly at him.

"I would advise against running away from your problem little boy…or maybe even try to take advantage of it. Think carefully before you make an unforgivable mistake my child," Caym warned.
