[Princess 1]- Template is Good After All

In the white stone hallways of the imperial palace all manner of people be they maid or minister were rushing about back and forth finishing their final preparations for the arrival of the long anticipated heroes. One person however could be seen calmly walking amidst the cacophony of noise all around, whenever someone passed them they lowered their head in greeting regardless of how busy they seemed.

The person in question was a girl in their teenage years with perfectly straight silver hair although from how dark it was some would argue that it was grey the girl would always insist it as silver however as those of her family were well known for their silver locks. She continued her slow march through the castle with a clear destination in mind while spending some time to focus her thoughts as she was burdened with an important task by her father that if she were to be honest with herself troubled her greatly.

While continuing her musings she walked on taking a moment to admire the different sceneries visible through the various windows as she passed, from her current position it was possible to see the lower townscape. To her understanding the commoners were quite busy themselves preparing for a festival in celebration for the heroes summoning, it is just as, if not more important to them as it is to the nobility that the protection of the realm is insured afterall.

If all goes well the heroes will arrive safely and begin their training in preparation for the subjugation of the demon lord that has recently begun its attacks upon the lands of Eden. As the young woman kept walking she passed another window, from this one a section of the Elder Wood could be seen. She was always fascinated by the ancient trust trees what with the biggest one in all of Pleiades growing in the palace courtyard where she would frequent as a young girl.

The tree’s most well-known feature being their delicious fruit that is nine out of ten times a harmless delicacy but with that one out of ten carrying a fatal toxin. As much as humans have fought demons and lilim over the long years it is a fact that chaos is present in all of nature as can be seen just by looking at the sacred tree.

It still confused her greatly when she thought about the fact that summoning magic falls under the chaos branch meaning only those who were bestowed the blessing by lady Aria can cast it. The blessing is then used to summon heroes to vanquish the servants of that same Lady Aria and yet she still gives that blessing to any second born princess of the royal family without fail.

With the girl keeping her steady pace she had at last arrived in front of her destination; it was a large open room guarded by two sentries in matching armour. Upon seeing who had arrived the sentries performed a salute and allowed her to pass without fanfare.

Inside the stone tiled room could be seen even more armoured guards standing at position on either side of the walls as well as five priestesses of order kneeling in prayer before a large intricate magic circle painted in what was no doubt the blood of ancient essence beasts.

And at the very front of those priestesses was an elderly man with a great beard clad in white gaudy robes. The girl knew the grandfatherly man by reputation but had rarely talked to him in person he could be none other than the high priest of the temple of order Kyle Veyron.

『Ah what a pleasure it is to see you again your highness princess Selene I believe the last time we met you were only about as tall as my waste how time does fly.』

Indeed, the person who had just arrived was none other than the second princess of the Severin Empire, Selene vi Severin. The task she had been instructed to perform by her father the Emperor was to be the summoner of the next generation of heroes, a task she felt uneasy towards because if you take away all the flowery language the fact remained that she was going to kidnap one or more likely several people against their will and then command them to risk their lives for the sake of strangers.

Nevertheless on her walk here she steeled her resolve for the sake of the citizens and decided she would take any and all hatred onto herself if it meant the safety of Eden, the safety of the human race.

After taking a breath to clear her mind she responded.

『Yes, it is good to see you as well your holiness I apologise for the long silence but my duties as princess usually keep me otherwise occupied.』

『Nonsense her highness doesn’t have to mind the feelings of an old man you are young you should be out seeing the world not keeping yourself cooped up in the castle all day worrying about things beyond your control.』

At this time a genuine smile made its way onto her lips not the stiff formal one she normally wears but the one she reserves for her friends and family.

『I shall keep your holiness’s words in mind.』

The older man nodded while stroking his beard.

『Just so, ah we have dallied about long enough, your highness are you feeling up to this? If you have any reservations please speak so now. I won’t judge you for it is not cowardice but prudence to act only after thinking things through afterall.』

『Your words alone are enough I will see this through to the end, but I must admit your advice truly rings with your temple’s doctrines.』

At her words he gave a hearty chuckle further cementing his appearance as a kind elder.

『What kind of priest would I be if I did not find the time to preach lady Ariel’s wisdom every chance I can get eh.』

『It is nice to see a priest with a sense of humour, but you are right that we are behind schedule so let us begin. I assume the priestesses there are going to be casting essence sharing magic to reinforce my reserves.』

『You are correct princess afterall while distance has little impact on the cost of chaos magic it is in the limiting of that chaos in order to achieve a specific result that will make your spell more taxing.』

『Right the way summoning magic works is that it will call something random to your location, but that randomness can be limited by restrictions such as it has to include this, or it can’t have that but the price in essence jumps dramatically with every restriction so usually it’s better to be vague.』

『Your highness is right of course but today we must be pretty specific we are here to summon heroes not turtles afterall.』

Selene allowed the old man a moment to finish laughing at his own joke before continuing on.

『I understand and I’m ready have the girls over there start chanting and I’ll follow soon after.』

At the princesses signal the old man turned serious and motioned the girls to begin thus after a short delay they began whispering simultaneously.

When the girls had completed their chant, a white glow began to emit from their bodies before extending to envelop Selene. When the light touched her Selene felt power beyond anything she knew like she could do anything if she just tried.

So caught up in her newfound feeling of omnipotence Selene had not realised she had just been standing there staring at her hand until she saw sweat dripping down one of the girl’s faces from the corner of her eye and returned to her senses. At that reminder she herself began moving to extend her arms towards the stabilising magic circle before she began her own chant in a loud voice.

After a moment of heavy breathing as though she had just run a marathon, she continued.

After finishing, both the princess as well as the five priestesses felt their breaths hitch as the collective essence left their bodies all at once. However, it appeared their struggles were not in vain as the glowing circle flashed especially bright before the visage of several children seeming the same age as her could be seen in its centre (No not children, heroes; for that is what they have to be from now on) thought Selene with a heavy heart.
