The first thing I noticed about the room was it was shuck boring. Yup. That's the thing I noticed. Everything was some shade of gray or white. The walls were smooth, but slightly tilting inward, like a triangle, there were no decorations or extra things added. Just a table Which, for some reason, was bolted to the ground. Apparently Newt noticed this too.
“ Why the bloody hell would you bolt a table down, in an underground shaft, in a practically hidden room?”
“ I can honestly say that I don’t know.”
Newt was not going to drop this.
“ I mean you gotta watch out for the bloody shanks, who go around in the shafts, carting tables away!”
I don't know why but I started laughing. I kept laughing till I couldn't breathe. Newt just stood there looking at me, like I was the first shank to ever laugh
“ Sorry Newt. It’s just the stupidness of this whole situation.”
“ You think I’m stupid? “
I flushed almost instantly
“ what? No, of course not, Newt.”
It was Newt’s turn to burst out laughing. I realized what he had done.

“ Hey! Not funny Newt!”
Newt faked dramatically falling over laughing.
“ Okay Newt, I get it, you should have been an actor.”
“ Well I didn't have much choice in the bloody matter.”
That instantly killed the mood. Like murdered the mood. It went from two boys being smart alecs with each other to both of them almost crying. Newt had been lying on the ground for this whole time, and after what had to have been at least five minutes of silence, he spoke.
“ Hey Minho, I think I found out why there's a table here.”
“ Well?”
“ There's a hidden door thing under it.”
“ Well, open this ‘ hidden door thing ‘ and see what it's for.”
I stood there watching as Newt crawled under the table and opened the trap door.
“ It is a small space.”
“ How small? “
“ Two or three people could fit in it.”
That's when I heard it. It wasn't actually anything, just a sound. A sound that barely sounded human. A sound that was close, quiet, but definitely there. I turned around slowly, and saw a hideous creature that must have been human at one point. Looking back now, I’m pretty sure it was male, considering the voice.
He had clothing that barely was staying on because of how torn and ripped it was, and if it had originally been a color, it wasn't anymore. The man was covered in a mix of blood and dirt, and the rare spots of skin I could see were tinted with black and green bruises, or rubbed raw. His face was sunken and hollow, and it looked like he only had one eye, and his hair was a matted mess of blood. The worst part of all was that he had no nose. Where a nose should have been was leveled out, and you could see the nose holes of a skull protruding out. My first thought was
What?
