Lay Back (Poem)

(Back when I was in grade 10, someone did like me but I wasn't sure how to deal with it as I was quite frustrated with my home life at the time.)

I know you're there, I can feel your eyes on me,

You feel you're in the right, but there's something you have to see.

I don't feel special, I don't feel kind,

It's just kind stuck, stuck in my mind.

So please lay back, back away from me,

My feelings me be locked, unlocked with a key.

So please understand, and give me some time,

Then I won't feel guilty, as though I've done a crime.

I don't want to hurt you, Don't give in,

And maybe, later on, my sad face may turn to a grin.

So just for now, lay back for some space,

No reason to run, for love is no race.
