Chapter sixteen-Chamber Trials Day XIII

Celeste~

The timer was getting closer to zero and that was when they both upped the anti, The fight got way more intense and It made me notice just how fast Judias was in his movements during this whole thing. While Caspian had the accuracy of...well an assassin Judias also had the agility of a feline. It was clear that his speed was inhumane and had magical advancements but he didn't seem to have it on display today.

Maybe that power of his was weak in that regard and that was the limit of his speed or maybe it was just uncontrollable.

I could easily see how the magic of enhanced speed could create chaos. Not being able to correctly control your landing point and going too fast could cause damage. Also not being able to put a stop to the speed could cause issues as well but that was usually the first thing people trained.

They seemed to have decided to stop the magic and move to physical attacks, they were throwing punch after punch at speeds that my eyes couldn’t even register.

“Three, Two, One. And the winner is Caspian!”

What proceeded was a series of shouting in respect for Caspians' win and the other was again a series of disappointed ‘awh’s’ from those who either supported or betted on Judias’ win.

The other people that were in the rings on the other sides of the room also seemed to have stopped fighting and the crowds that once surrounded them were now interested in Caspian and Judias.

“Ha, you owe me a thousand”

“Ah fuck you man”

Poor him. I was right about Caspian and Judias being friends as they did a lovely handshake at the end of it and were walking out with each other as they left the ring.

“Everyone seems to be staying, who do you think is next?” I asked Rain. When the arguments from the betting subsided I could hear people talking about how much money they were going to put into this one.

“I don’t know in checking now, it says that the next fighters are random and will be chosen from those who watched the previous battles.”

Excuse me. It’s not that I was scared to fight anyone, while I didn’t know if there were limits and boundaries to what damage you could do while you were in here, I was a strong opponent and could defend myself quite well if I do say so myself.

“Well damn then, it seems we may have accepted something without knowing it”

“Yeah I was not prepared to fight today, I don’t know how people still have the energy to fight battles after what they’ve put us through in the last challenges.”

Honestly. It was definitely for appearances though, again, nobody wanted to look worn out already.

The chatter began to subside and I could see everyone looking at their phones. I went onto the Academies’ page and went to the Fighting Chambers section. There was a wheel that spun and that seemed to have the names of everyone that was In here, there was also a video from a camera that darted right to everyone’s face when the wheel met their name and for a split second I saw mine as the wheel span. Fuck me.

The wheel picked up its pace and continued to spin as it darted to everyone in the room. They must have had the time for this while everyone was watching the fight because even I failed to notice the large cameras pointing at all of us from the ceiling.

The dramatics of the place started up once again as the cheering and chanting intensified as the wheel continued to gain speed and then slow down.

“Ooooooooooooooo.” Everyone shouted in coordination as the wheel slowed even more.

The arrow spun across names that I did not recognise intertwined with the one and only Caspian. Not to his luck the arrow landed on him and he was to fight once again. I didn’t know if there was a rule about fighting twice in a row but by the looks of everyone in the room, it was determined.

He appeared from the corner, shirtless and walking towards the ring. When he got in he threw up his hands and everyone cheered for him once again.

He took a gulp of his water and looked at his phone as everyone else did.

“Wowzers, he has to fight twice in a row poor him. But I guess his opponent wouldn’t be any more powerful than Judias and definitely not him. And I don’t see Chimen or Chisila here so I think he’s good.”

“Not that they would fight anyways, it doesn’t really fit the whole vibe they have going for them. Would much rather focus on academics and I wouldn’t be surprised if they were at a chess match right now. Latía just walked in and I’m guessing the princess didn’t want to fight either as she made sure she missed the part where we were being chosen for battle”

Rain giggled and said “Definitely in chess class, or maybe archery lessons. And the pretty princess definitely doesn’t seem to want to get her hands dirty today.”

“Ooooooooooo” The crowd chanted again as the wheel slowed.

I saw my name in between others and I silently prayed that I wouldn’t be chosen. Forget what I said about not minding fighting before, after seeing what he was capable of any normal person would be apprehensive.

“Anddddd the chosen one is, Celeste Luxe.”

Fuck me. Fuck me. Fuck me.

It was just my stupid luck that I had to go up against him. I couldn’t back out now as part of being able to watch the battle was having a chance to be the one in the ring. Everyone here seemed to be up and ready to fight at any given moment and it was clear that the majority which those who were here before did not come here to simply just observe. Women, men and all the In-between were hyped up and practically ready for war.

If only I had known that before.

The camera was pointed directly at my face and I tried my best to keep all composure. Not only was I intimidated by his raw power, his presence alone held weight. A weight that I could feel pounding in my chest.

Everyone turned to me and Rain had an expression on her face that I could only interpret as ‘Good fucking luck man, you’re gonna need it.’

“Celeste!, Celeste!” They all shouted. Not honest in their support as we all knew what they were looking forward to. Me getting beat the fuck up. I tried my best not to look up at the Beast in the cage but my eyes just couldn’t fight it.

Now he was at the side of the cage that was facing me. He looked down at me like the predator he was, analysing, gaging.

He smirked when my eyes met his.
