...While she and I both had our tries of 5-star food it wasn't something we regularly ate and that showed blatantly in the foods we ate. While Chloe was willing to eat more Boujie foods than me it was clear that she was just trying things out and seeing what she liked while Rain was well versed in whatever she had. It seemed to follow an actual taste pállate and she seemed to know exactly what she wanted and where to get it from, something that you would only know from experiencing Michelin-star restaurants all the time.
Markan chimed in a little about the whole Latia and Judias situation and simply thought that staying with someone that you didn't like just for social status was silly and that she was basically doing it to herself which was kind of true.
By the time we were done, I was stuffed and wanted to crawl into my bed and hibernate again, the only thing probably stopping me was that it wasn't as enticing as my bed at home. While it was luxury and all it just couldn't compete with nostalgia.
Markan and Chloe wanted to go and chill with their friends, me and Rain were left to decide what to do with ourselves and eventually decided on a session in the gym area. Even though we were worn out from all the battles before, we thought that we might as well get to know this place a little better and also scope out who's a good opponent. We also weren't gonna do any actual combat mostly just magic stuff so we wouldn't ware ourselves too much.
Blue Phoenix had a thing for creating chaos and I wanted to know who my competition was in this place. Every point counts and since I seemed to already be in a place of decent power I might as well climb the ladder a little bit myself. I wasn't going to go out of my way to become something too special if I was already close to the bottom but if I had a fighting chance, we'll, you'd sure as hell bet that I was going to take it.
The gym was to the right of the hall. We weren't going to change into another outfit we simply couldn't be bothered and weren't doing anything too drastic anyway.
It wasn't too long before we got to the room. Honestly even felt like a disservice to call it a room, the place could house more than 30 people with just the main section of the gym.
Sleek clouded glass double doors were the protector of this piece. A vast array of high-end gym equipment was placed perfectly across the marble floors. Cardio machines were to the left of the room with more intense equipment placed on the higher floor on the right side of the room above a few small steps.
This gym was big and I wasn't surprised I could hardly see any people, aside from me and Rain there were just five others that were there. This wasn't the only section of the gym and from what I could see there were four more doors that led to somewhere else.
Rain and I were looking for the open spaces to practice magic, the other doors were for boxing practice, elemental magic and a large outside space for magic that needed it such as speed running. The last room was the one we were looking for, It was big and consisted of multiple sections of empty space to use magic in. There was also the option to use those animatronics that they used on us previously but I didn't want to see their silly metal faces again, I was not over the work they put me through before and didn't need a reminder of what it was like in combat with them so soon after getting my ass beat in the last rounds of the Trials.

Me and Rain decided that we were just going to practice a little on each other and also show each other what powers we had. I knew she worked with defence magic mainly and she liked to use weapons for attack like I did. She didn't like the same weapons as me though as she told me that she usually opted for bows of sorts and the occasional long sword while I liked it up close and personal with sharp daggers.
There were also only a couple of people in here while we trained which I was kind of glad for because it meant that no one really knew what I could do, the downside obviously being that it was the same for me.
"You ready?" Rain said as she braced. Because of the powers that we had, we decided that it would be best for me to practice my magic offence on her defences. "I'm as ready as you are."
"Then you're very ready."
I hurled a ball of energy at her before she had a chance to register what I was doing, I knew she was a good opponent and didn't want to give her a chance to brace again after she spoke.
Not like I thought she would do she dodged the ball instead of throwing up her signature shield. She had shown us it during our little girls' talk, it was a hot topic because of the colour of it, it was unlike usual shields which usually had an oblique appearance no matter the colour. Rain's one was different. It was iridescent and shiny as it glowed. It was beautiful and looked dainty despite knowing that it was not. The simplicity of her power didn't match the boldness and loudness of her appearance as she looked as though she would have been someone that had more overt magic.
"Going easy on me are you?" She chirped, clearly happy with her performance.
I quickly hurled small balls of energy at her that she couldn't dodge, the downside of being able to throw so many being that they were much weaker in strength compared to bigger more concentrated ones. It would definitely not hurt her if it was to touch her but it made sure that she couldn't dodge this attack.
She did what I'd assumed she would have done first and put up her shield, funnily enough, she didn't know the limits to the strength of her shield yet or how long it would take to regenerate after it fell. Like most of us until recently we were all weak in power compared to our fullest potential so that meant that she didn't have anyone who was strong enough to test her shield out.
She would have also needed multiple people to try this with her to see if there was maybe a certain type of power that she was more susceptible to. I guess that type of training and knowledge was what we were here for.
Not to my surprise her ability to put up her shield was more than honed in. She put up her with such speed it made the appearance of her sleek shield make sense as its agility was out of this world.
While I didn't know how strong I needed to be to be able to destroy her shield I knew that there was a demon behind the magic that happened to be very susceptible to wearing out. Although magic and man were separate it still took great amounts of physical energy to evoke magic and especially to keep it. While I was lucky enough to have a slight regeneration period between hits she didn't. She may have to keep her magic up for minutes at a time or risk being caught off guard.
It was just a matter of how much stamina she had.
It wasn't too long after that when she finally broke under my attacks, I kept to my plan and continued to throw small weak attacks at her so she was forced to use her magic, she was more than okay at the start but we all had a limit. She had realised the weak spot in her defences a little while after I had started my scheming and I could already tell that she was thinking of ways to hone that in even more.
