Chapter 5:Antidote

Chapter 5:Antidote

The gunshot resonated through the beach, startling all the little demons who had been engaged in their skirmish. They froze, their curious gazes turning toward the peculiar noise. Two more shots followed, leaving them utterly bewildered by these unfamiliar sounds.

Arthur, who had fired at the four-eyed demon, was equally taken aback by the outcome. He observed with surprise that the demon didn't succumb immediately, even after a shot to the abdomen. Instead, it howled in pain and tore a sizable chunk of flesh from Arthur's left arm.

Pain coursing through his body, Arthur's survival instincts kicked in. He pressed the gun against the demon's stomach and squeezed off two more rounds. Finally, the demon ceased its movements, its lifeless body sprawled on the sandy beach, a pool of purple blood slowly spreading around it.

Covered in wounds, Arthur struggled to get up, his breaths coming in heavy pants. He couldn't help but marvel at the resilience of the four-eyed demon; it had taken four shots to bring it down. Perhaps the gun was underpowered, or maybe demons were just sturdier after hatching.

Relieved that the demon was no longer a threat, Arthur couldn't afford to relax. Other little demons were drawn by the gunshots and approached with curiosity. Despite his injuries, he raised the gun and aimed it at one of them. He pulled the trigger, but the shot missed, and the little demon darted away. He pointed the gun at another one, successfully scaring it off.

With a simple intimidation tactic, Arthur managed to keep the other demons at bay. However, he also noticed his growing instinctual craving for their souls. His body reacted to the presence of these souls nearby, and he had to struggle to maintain control.

Arthur gazed at the soul of the four-eyed demon lying on the ground, now without a body. He decided to see if he could store it using the system. To his surprise, it worked, and the soul disappeared from the beach.

Checking the system interface, he noted the change:

Soul: Weaker Soul (1)(0.2)

Arthur understood that as a demon, he might have a natural longing for souls, but he had to resist it. Souls were his lifeline, and he couldn't afford to consume them recklessly.

As the little demons dispersed, Arthur settled down on the ground, forgetting to retract his tail, which caused him some discomfort. Adapting to his new form was proving to be quite the challenge. He examined the revolver he had summoned earlier, and despite its appearance, it worked. The ability to materialize objects by defining attributes seemed like something out of science fiction.

Arthur also realized that the way he defined attributes affected soul consumption. He had wanted the "infinite ammo" attribute, but it had come at a high cost. Now, he had to make do with a basic gun and limited bullets.

Summoning the system again, Arthur attempted to create something new. He drew a test tube filled with blue liquid and labeled it "Antidote," intending to use it to counteract the poison from the four-eyed demon's bite.

However, he decided to add a playful twist. He changed the liquid's color to dark brown and then added the attribute "[chocolate chip]." Arthur hoped this concoction would be sufficient to neutralize the poison.

After materializing the item, the secound soul vanished , and Arthur held a tube of dark brown liquid in his hand. He knew it was time to give it a try and cautiously took a sip.
